Per PFT.com:

The Cleveland Browns have benched starting quarterback Derek Anderson and will replace him with Brady Quinn for Thursday’s game against the Broncos, ESPN’s Trent Dilfer is reporting.

The news comes just hours after Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Anderson was the starter “as of right now.”

Anderson had an ugly game against the Ravens yesterday, completing 17 of 33 passes for 219 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception that was returned for the game-clinching touchdown.

It's not like Anderson has been horrible these past couple of games.

Good. Maybe Quinn will throw the ball to Braylon Edwards and my FF team will win :D

Er, or maybe Edwards will stop leading the league in drops. He's nearly as much to blame for DA's benching as DA is.

DA has just been completely awful this season. It's been a very good game for him if he completes 50% of his passes. Quinn's time is here.

EDIT: And since when did Trent Dilfer work for BSPN?

17 of 33 for 219 yards, 2 TDs, & 1 INT......against the Ravens defense.

He's had many worse starts than this one. Why now?

A boneheaded last series in that game. He made very questionable decisions.

I think he is being penalized for that INT, which really wasn't all his fault.

He definitely should not have thrown it, but the RB looked lost & confused. Didn't even try to go for the ball.

This is a knee jerk coaching move. He has had worse games than this one & they didn't pull him.

I guess they thought Quinn wasn't quite ready. That, or starting Quinn is admission that the season's over.

Could be either of those I guess.
