Wow. What a blow to a really, really promising Lions season. Looks like this might JUST put the playoffs out of reach.

When Bears quarterback Kyle Orton injured his ankle during Sundayís come-from-behind win against the Lions, more than a few NFL observers wondered whether Daunte Culpepper was having some remorse over agreeing to terms with Detroit.

As it turns out, the path to the playing field in Motown is a lot more clear than expected for Culpepper.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that current Lions starter Dan Orlovsky is out indefinitely with a sprained thumb.

Last month, former starter Jon Kitna was placed on IR with a back injury.

Per Glazer, Orlovsky will miss the next few weeks, and possibly longer. Heíll wear a cast for at least a couple of weeks.

The absence of Orlovsky leaves Culpepper (once his deal is official), Drew Stanton, and Drew Henson on the teamís depth chart at quarterback.

We suppose itís possible that, in lieu of dumping Henson upon the official arrival of Culpepper, the Lions will choose to put Orlovsky on IR. But thereís no indication yet that the Lions are considering such a move.

Oh, damn, I picked the Lions to win the division. There's a hundred bucks I'll never see again.

On a serious note, this should be interesting. The Lion's Offensive Coordinator said this about 2nd string QB Drew Stanton:

When asked about the possibility of Stanton playing soon, Colletto said "He's not ready to do that yet. I'm not going to embarrass the kid just to prove a point to somebody else.''

Stanton then replied

"I didn't read the article but I heard what it said. That's fine, he's entitled to his opinion. If he thinks I embarrass myself when I go out there then that's what he believes. Ultimately, he's the offensive coordinator right now.''

Playoff hopes? Hahahaha.

Damn! Does anyone know who Orlovsky's backup is? I have to find a new starter for my fanasty league.

Wow, Drew Henson is still in the NFL. Anyone know who got waived to make room for Henson when the Lions signed him from their practice squad?

Moran Norris.

The league is filled with ex-Texans it seems sometimes.

Playoff hopes? Hahahaha.

That was my initial thought too, but my haha was WAY longer.

Everytime I think how bad we have it.... I think of Detroit Lions fans.

The Lions drafted Drew Stanton at the top of the second round two years ago, but he never plays.

Must've been another crappy pick be Matt Millen.

Stanton has all the tools and nothin between the ears.

Must be Millen's favorite player.
