You show me Schaub's double, same face, same voice, everything. And I'd know it wasn't Schaub. I'd know in my gut. Now, I want you to tell me that you know for a fact that there's nothing wrong with our Quarterback, except in his mind. YOU TELL ME FOR A FACT YOU KNOW AN EXORCISIM WOULDN'T DO ANY GOOD. YOU TELL ME THAT.

What we need is a good old Native American smudging ceremony! Nothing like a little smoke from burning sage to drive out the bad spirits or influences and to keep them from coming back in. Easier than an exorcism and more reliable.:shades:

I saw some scary tendencies the last two games...the happy feet...the locking onto his receiver...the run away from constant pressure...the sack that should have been a throw away pass...the deer in the headlights look...the hit, slow get up, dazed stumble...

The infinite debate regarding what ruined HWSNBN - bad offensive line vs. raw potential - is now looking a bit swayed towards the line. When a QB cannot trust his coverage, he becomes Crazy 8!!

Why? He's the best QB on the roster. You think sacrificing him will make Shaub better?

I have a hard time finding my happy place when I see a picture of HWSNBN. :chickendance:

But you're right. *sips battle red koolaide* Our offensive line is going to nut up and protect our QB, and make some holes so Slaton can rack up some serious yardarge. AJ and Walter catch the TD passes this time and we stomp the Jags out of sheer determination and grit, thus exorcising the no. 8 demon spirit from the offense. :cowboy1:

Look, LT is happy and still has his visor.:shades:

They should just have a burning of that jersey in the stadium parking lot. I do find it funny that last year the complaint was that he stood in the pocket too long and took too many hits. Head on a swivel now.

I'm all for Schaub ditching the #8. He wore #7 at Virginia (many of my UVA buddies still wear Schaub 7 jerseys to games). Dogfighter had #7 in Atlanta, so Schaub just took the next-highest available number. Once Chad Stanley was--mericfully--cut, he should have taken his old number back.

Heck, it's not like #7 is currently in use at his alma mater, either: the UVA QB who was wearing Schaub's old number just got booted off the team for underage drinking and is now transferring to Oregon State. Wihtout going in to the gory details, 2008 has been an incredibly lousy year for all things UVA (I'll stop before I get started), and I fear Schaub's poor play this year is part of all this bad mojo.

So I'm definitely in for the exorcism!

Matt seems like a pretty cool dude, he's really been smacked around in only two games & has yet to assume the fetal position ala Carr so maybe there is hope. I'm most dissapointed with OL guru Alex Gibbs, both in blocking for Matt & developing a more effective run game. He needs to come out & address these issue instead of hiding in Kubiaks shadow. if you watch Denver for example they spread out spacing way more so there are bigger lanes at least it appears more space. I really like it when they use misdirection & roll Cutler out which I've seen Matt do on occassion but not nearly enough. the whole offense is predicated on movement & spacing I don't understand little Shaneys playcalling, Matt is forcing the ball trying to make something happen or reacting to bad situations/execution :voodoo:

Funniest thing about #8 I heard was a texter on the 610 Adam Clanton experience. It read:

We don't want to suck too.

Signed 7 and 9.

Gotta agree. I was really disapointed that not only Schaub choose 8 but that the Texans let him. Sorry, I am not suspicious, but just from a marketing angle alone, I wouldn't have let Matt choose 8. Now, it appears that David Carr has taken over the body of Matt in some sort of invasion of the body snatchers horror flick. Yes, I will gladly sign any petition to make him change numbers.

When you have a bad OL and just an ok QB not great you aren't going to win IMO.

I don't think the OLine is all that bad. Granted Myers has not looked good at all and was worth a sixth round pick. We are missing Weary right now.

Other than that I have liked what I have seen from Brown. He has worked his tail off. Yeah sure, he has given up a few plays but that is to be expected of a rookie.

This is still an Oline that rushed for 145 yards on the number one ranked defense.

They do miss Weary.

And Matt is on the run a lot because his guys aren't open and the pocket starts to break down.

Matt had a vicious hit on him from a blitzer against Pittsburgh not because of a problem with the line but because of a missed block by Vonta Leach. Another time, Matt had no time to throw and got nailed because Winston whiffed on a block.

The line has to improve. The blitz pickups by the backs needs to improve (although Slaton has surprised me so far.) Schaub needs to make the right reads and put the ball in the right place quickly; early in the game he was making his reads TOO fast and putting the ball in the wrong place. Our receivers need to do a better job of getting free, which is why I think David Anderson is on his way back down the depth chart and Andre Davis is on his way back up the depth chart.

So, there's plenty of blame to go around. Everyone needs to step it up.

If they put an "8" with "CARR" above it in every urinal (I know they are the trough style but still) I would laugh my ass off. And this is coming from a guy who still thinks we screwed Carr up for life with the OL he played behind.

I find it a little sad to see all of the hatred for Carr on this board. It's so dense that you would think our team has dramatically improved since his departure, which it hasn't. Schaub has, in all honesty, done very little to prove that he is any better than Carr during the time he has spent here. Comparing Carr's 06 numbers to Schaub's 07 numbers really leaves one to just shrug.

No hatred involved, but there is a vast chasm between the suckitude of HWWNBN and Schaub's performance in '07.

Schaub would likely have thrown more touchdown's than Carr...but was on pace to throw more interceptions. Pick your poison.

Regardless of Schaub being a step up over Carr, there is a lot of hatred for Carr on the board. It is silliy and irritating watching some posters 'man up' and show their toughness mocking Carr. Let it go already.

To get back to a previous conversation about the 7-9 team and the 8-8 team, I have a thought experiment.

Most people say that the 8-8 team is much better. If Carr and Schaub were switched, I think the 7-9 team is easily better. Outside of QB, I don't see all that much overall improvement and steady progression around here.

Now, what was this thread about...

As if turnovers are the only measure. In any event, David was upside down on TD/INT while Schaub was dead even, but that forgets the 17 fumbles Carr had. But yes Schaub needs to work on turnovers.

The more significant point is under Schaub the O moves the ball--to the tune of almost an extra 100 yards of passing per game and isn't dink and dunk with a 7.8 ypa that was near top of the league (the exact opposite of a Carr offense).

OK enough Carr talk--as Runner said, time to move on.

The 7-9 team did nothing consistently. The biggest thing that got them to that record was being 2nd in the league at takeaways. That's nice but can't be counted on as can be seen the next year when they didn't get them and went 2-14. In contrast, the 8-8 team was near the bottom of the league on turnovers.
