I know for a fact the Falcons won't beat us next week since we are playing the Ravens.

Worse and worse and worse. How can this game continue getting worse.

Ok the Steelers are a good team. But 3 points scored. I would state how many points we've conceded but its probably out of date by now...

Good chance for Mario to load up on sacks here, Byron Leftwitch coming in, heck our D is so bad he'll probably put up 21 more points for Pitt this quarter

Bull Pen 1

Maybe our defense can pad it's sacks totals with Leftwich in there at qb

DerekLee1
09-07-2008, 02:16 PM
I expected the offense to struggle against the NFL's toughest, most blitzing defense since Buddy Ryan retired. But this defense is just the absolute PITS. I'm disgusted and embarassed by it. The Pittsburgh offense is NOT this f'ing good. They're average at best. My God, if Pittsburgh does this, what's going to happen when we face Jacksonville with MJD and Fred Taylor, or Indianapolis with - well, with their whole offense. We're toast.

Spike
09-07-2008, 02:17 PM
There is a lot of pressure coming from the left side....a lot.

I want more than anything to believe that we are going to be able to use this game as a learning tool and bounce back. The offense isn't going to face a better defense this year. Hopefully this will be the worst game for Matt and the o-line. Maybe the defense can get it together.

That sucked. I don't care if it is Week 1. How many times is our team gonna come out and look so unprepared? It's amazing to me. Still no halftime adjustments. Still no DC with a set of stones to take some risks. Mario played outstanding, DeMeco was okay, Brown struggled but he is a rook, Schuab had a tough day. Slaton looked impressive. He really ran hard. What the hell happened to Chris Taylor, Kubes? The guy deserves at least a chance, doesn't he? Amazing.

I don't care what Polo or anyone says, Richard Smith is a terrible playcaller. Perfect example: 3rd & 9 with Byron Leftwich in the shotgun. Play Call: Soft zone, rush four, no pressure, Leftwich almost completes the pass. Garbage, garbage, garbage. Dick Lebeau kept bringing it on us until the final play.

I flipped over and watched some of the Titans v Jags game. Get ready Schaub, because it ain't over yet. Williams and Schwartz were bringing it all day long.

threetoedpete
09-07-2008, 03:14 PM
Is it too early to get rid of Richard Smith like we should have the past 2 offseasons? We are getting destroyed on the sidelines and the field, their coaches are owning ours.

What does Richard Smith Have to with the second year corner back walking himself out of position pre snap and or not having enough athletes to compete with a pretty fair rushing attack ? Not to mention being exposed in the back seven for not having enough athletes to compete with the Steeler receivers ? I still do not under stand this kind of logic.

Couple of knee jerk things: I was very disappointed in the backside blocking at the start of the game. No back side cut blocks. No one on the ground. Our guru just got his hat handed to him by their defensive guru. Gibbs just got his but whipped in toto by Dick Lebeau. One of the key calls from LeBeau....bracketing Dav Anderson , the Z receiver, on a simple out pattern which led to an early interception. I don't know, and I'm not in the room...but that was either a mighty fine guess, or someone was reading tendencies and trends this summer and trumped our offensive co-coordinator. I thought Duane Brown had a very good game considering what he was up against. You know it's bad when it's the third quarter before your QB has time to find his TE in the seam.

I expected Fred Bennett to have a bit of a sophomore slump...but the very poor tackling and the bad decisions on angles is unacceptable. That's got to be corrected before next week or we'll get pretty much the same thing against the Ravens.

dream is kicking himself for

a.) starting carson palmer in one of his leagues
b.) playing deuce over chris johnson
c.) starting seattle's D over Titans D

Does this have anything to do with the Texans game?

Anyway.....

This is one game and thankfully it's only the first one of 16. Pittsburgh is a good team, I don't like them but I respect them. I want to see how this team bounces back next week. Baltimore is another good defensive unit.

that's the difference in having a storied history and team pride and having a losing history and certain guys with no pride...

Pittsburgh's O-line has been hearing all week how much they would suck because Faneca was gone... they came out with something to prove and only allowed two sacks to Super Mario. No one will blame them for that. They ran the ball right down our necks.

what's missing from this Texans team?
Team Pride.

Interesting, we can pass the ball when... the defense knows we'll pass.. very interesting indeed...

Or the Steelers have called off the dogs are running their zone and our #1's get to compete with some of their number twos ? Texans have always done well in garbage time when the game is out of hand the last couple of years. You'd think that little tid-bit would give some folks a clue . But obviously it doesn't.

Well, since I feel absolutely SICK, and since this is an opinion board, THIS is my opinion. We are a POORLY coached team, on every side of the ball!! ST might get a pass, but, O and D suck! Can't blame any one particular player, can't put the blame on the combo's, OL, DL, secondary, whatever. Out coached, out played, unprepared, all equals failure!

I am no homer, and I expected a loss!. BUT, I hate the feeling of being embarrassed, and that's the way I feel today. The Steelers, and their fans, were laughing at us, rightfullly so, and that really tickes me off!!

We have achieved mediocrity. Nothing more. We have surpassed the Miamiís and Arizonas of the league, but we still canít play with the big boys.

Big Ben is one tackle away from being sidlined and we'll see what they do with Byron leftbit*h at the helm. Heck, even with big ben, they will get their embarrassment too, they won't go 16-0 and when they lose it won't always be with dignity.

Texans will bounce back.

I really didn't think we were likely to win, but damn at least fight. At first I thought well we fell behind Carolina and then came back strong, but this efort was just pathetic. I didn't drink more than 3 beers, but for this first time ever I made coffee just to stay awake for the whole game.

But, history has shown us that when the Texans play like this, it is a prelude of bad things to come.

Think of it as preparation and not to expect too much.

I'm definitely NOT depressed. I'm PISSED OFF!! The only good thing about watching that game today was watching it with some of the best TEXAN fans a person could find anywhere!! THEY made it tolerable! I'll cool off later, and try to find some positives, but, right now, I just wanna b*tch!!!!:yap

That might be tough, G-ma. Other than Mario and AJ's "garbage" yards, there is nothing positive to pull from this game.

We're still healthy??

Matt's reason for not killing himself:

- The Ravens next week, and the thought of setting Mario onto Flacco.

- I only watched a choppy stream, perhaps a full nice torrent our loss will look better.

- Ahman Green can still walk (although not pick up too much yardage...)

- AJ made 100+ yards, yet still needs more touches.

- Two sacks for Mario.

- We aren't the Rams.

Sorry, but you can't take the blame for todays loss, we all know who's truly at fault here...

I blame Tmac....blame him, it's Tmac's fault we lost tonight. It's Tmac's fault that Schaub threw those 2 ints, because Tmac told him to do his best "David Carr impersonation"...the only reason why he wasn't wearing the white gloves is because Tmac happened to leave them at home. Tmac was the one that spotted the ball on the 4th and inches......Tmac was the reason why Houston lost...yep I'm blaming Tmac.

IMO the secondary was playing too far back, giving a huge cushion. The D line looked fine, but Ben was able to get rid of the ball in 2 seconds or less.

Matt Schaub had a David Carr like game and really frustrated me. I wanted Sage put in by the 2nd quarter. Slaton, Brown, and the WR's looked good.

I know its one game, whatever, but if we did manage to get into the playoffs, who really thinks we will do anything but get blown out??
