I went with Slaton getting 1275 yards because he looks best of all our backs in this offense, seems to truly understand how to use his blockers and then make his cut at the right moment, and Green stands almost no chance of staying healthy for even half a season much less the entire one.

I voted Steve Slaton 1275 yards. Not sure if you meant combined yards or rushing yard but I think both are a possibility. We haven't had anyone out-produce Slaton so far in the Pre-season.Which to me looks like he'll get a fair amount of touches this year per game. He'd only have to average about 80 yards a game to hit that rushing total and he's capable of breaking long runs.

If our blocking comes together like i think it should about midway through the season combine that if we can get decent production of of either Walker(If he's still around), Taylor or if by some miracle of the football gods Ahman Green can go a series without hurting himself.

If Slaton or Taylor gets 1275 yards or they have 4 pro-bowlers on O then top 5 offense is pretty likely.

I think Slaton for 1275 yards and Mario with 18.5 sacks are the most likely scenarios. I went with Slaton.

I'm going with Slaton for the same reason. It seems to be the 'most realistic' of the choices (but I'd be happy with any of them!).

i'm torn between slaton and mario. the single word i could use for mario is determined. i guess "mean" would come close but he's got a focus that i'm not sure i've seen in a long time, 15 sacks or 50, honestly neither would suprise me. slaton has a few injured players to hurdle but once he's out front i think he can hit ~100 per game. 1275 only depends on how quick he gets the starting job, and at this rate it should be pretty quick.

There were a couple choices I felt like I could go with, though the Slaton 1275 is an outside shot, IMO. I guess they all are, though. I voted Walter to the Pro Bwl. I think he's really grasping the offense, has proven to be a reliable receiver, and will likely be one of those guys that has two or three Pro Bowl appearances over his career - in other words, not a guy in the tier of the top WRs, but a guy that can have a few stellar years. Kubiak's offense is very good, so top 5 offense could happen as well. We put up over 5K yards last year with tons of injuries and no running game to speak of.

Plus with all the attention Andre will get, and how well Walter is playing, I think he may be poised for a really good yr...

great poll by the way! that was really tough. several of them are possible but none likely. so it was hard. i went with minimal sacks given up. we have a better chance at being efficient that we do of superstar stats just because of the nature of our football team. and that was really the only stat that seemed really like "us".

second would be green staying healthy for 11 games. it's not unreasonable to think he'll play in that many.

Where's the Richard Smith gets fired choice?
:jk:

Really love the choices...

As much as I'd like to see "All of the Above" happen; I went with we're a top-5 offense.
- Can't see Mario getting 18-19 sacks without Weaver/Colvin/Kalu demanding a double teams or you get your wish and we upgrade those positions
- Allowing one sack per game or less is reeeeeally asking for a miracle. I think they can keep it around 20-25, but 16?? Only N.O. did that last year.
- 2nd round of playoffs? That's my real first choice but I was afraid I'd jinx them if I picked it. ...so I'm superstitious, sue me.
- Neither Slaton nor Taylor will get sufficient carries to approach 1200 yds. Green will stay just healthy enough to screw that up.
- Ahman Green healthy for "a full 11 games" - that's not gonna happen.
- 4 offensive pro-bowlers.... this isn't impossible either if we become a top-five offense. AJ, OD, Schaub, Capt. Caveman, Walter (if he has a Wes Welker year) all could have pro bowl "quality" years. Now whether they unseat the usual & customary, big name, pro bowl nominees is another question.
- Amobi gets 9.5 sacks. DTs rarely reach those kinds of sack numbers. I think he'll be lucky to get 5 again.
- Kevin Walter makes the pro bowl - see above. If he has a stud year in 08 he'll be on the league "radar screens". He'll have to have another in 09 to get to the pro bowl. Ask Mario.... and he had name recognition.

- My personal fave: We become a Top Five offense. The most achievable of all the potential occurrences. Last season's top five (yds/game)
Pats - - - - 411.2
Pack - - - - 370.7
boys - - - - 365.7
Saints - - - 361.2
Colts - - - -358.7

Texans - - - 333.6

We were only 26 yds off a top 5 finish last year. If the running game improves by, saaay, 30 yds/game and the passing game doesn't suffer for it, we could be there.

I went with Walter getting to the pro bowl...
him and OD seem to touch the ball alot more now than they did when Johnson was healthy last year and all this crap about now that ESPN is saying about how he won't see the ball now that AJ is back is just crap. with AJ getting all the attention Walter will pick up a lot of the grabs for this offense. I was surprised there wasn't an OD option up but i still probably would have gone with Walter.

Save me a window seat, cause I am getting on board with this as well. Thinking who went last year and the turmoil on some teams, I honestly believe we could have two WR goto the probowl.

I voted for 16 or less sacks. MS will get rid of the ball quickly and the line will give him or Sage the time needed.

When you boil it down to just one sack per game, it sounds less likely, but I'll stick with my vote anyways.

Top 5 Offensively, individual stats are so fragile due to injury/form.

Team offense is easy to predict given system and depth of talent.

The one threat to this prediction is if the Defense can't get off the field.

The above pretty much sums up my thoughts on the poll .... :goodpost:

Only One team had 16 or fewer sacks last season .... NO
Three other teams had 20 or fewer.

One Rookie had more than 1250 yards last season ..... A.P
One other had more than 1000 yards.
No other Rookie had more than 265 yards.

No player reached 16 sacks last season
Jared Allen lead the NFL with 15.5

Ahman Green staying healthy for one play would be an accomplishment , I wouldnt bet on 11 outa him.

2nd round of the play-offs ? ..... I dont wanna jinx them.

I went with Mario getting 18.5 sacks. I didn't see the other options as being as likely. He got 14.5 sacks with no help. He looks to improve upon last season so even without help he could see 4 more sacks. Okoye should be improved which will help Mario. With Dunta Robinson back during the 2nd half of the season he could see some coverage sacks with Bennett and Dunta back there. I realize nobody had that many sacks last season, but nobody had 50 TD passes before last year. If someone were to break out and notch that many sacks why couldn't it be Mario?

A lot of these are contingent on others so I will hope that we can get close to 4-5 of these. If Slaton/Taylor can get the yards we would be a top 5 offense AND our sacks would be reduced since Ds can't just expect us to pass all day. If Mario can somehow get that many sacks I guarantee that ther will be turnovers as well as our O will see many more plays, thus allowing rush yards and a top 5 O. If we can get more people to be doing the Hula dance I am sure that our offense would be top notch. Lastly we come to Green. If Green can play in that many games BEWARE. Do you remember that hot girl that told you "when hell frezes over"? Will that day has come so take a shower and get dressed because you are about to have a GREAT night ahead of you.

none of the above.

most likely to happen? Schaub to pass for over 4,000 yards. I'm not buying into the running game just yet, inexperienced line & lack of premier back. the defense is dissapointing, lack of pass rush, corner skills & quality @ LB. however the system will execute better than it ever has through the air, the line will protect Matt just long enough & the running game by committee should balance enough heat off Schaub to utilize his quick release to a really promising WR group. seems like only last year WR was considered our biggest weakness now it may be the biggest asset, which will benefit Matt. :)

Besides that, the D looks just fine. So in other words, we've just got a lot of issues on our defense, on the basis of what we've seen in preseason. Profound Issues ! And unless we see something radically different in the regular season than what we've seen in recent weeks from our defense, don't see a playoff team here in H-town this year, especially with this schedule.

I won't necessarily be disappointed. I am hoping it ends up being a catch-22 for opposing offenses. If they focus too much on him maybe others will get to the QB. As I posted, he did get 14.5 with no real help. Okoye should be better. I think if Cochrane sees more time he would be better than Weaver. I'd just like to see an improvement to the team's number. I don't care where they come from. I just felt that most of the other options would require more things to go right for the team. I think Mario can be dominant enough that he could get to 18.5 sacks without anyone else really helping him regardless of blocking. It will depend on if he wants it.

Based on your wording, I will take Slaton getting 1275 yards. Since you didn't specify rushing o0r combined, I will claim its an easy 1275 combined. To do this Slaton would need to average a combined 80 yards of rushing and receiving a game. I think he is more than up for that.
