This would be a huge blow to the Giants if he misses a big part of the year. And this happened in a pre-season game, OUCH!!!!

Giants DE Osi Umenyiora suffered serious ligament damage last night against the Jets and will be forced to undergo surgery, which will probably knock him out for the entire season.

Much more on this to come.

Don't know how credible the source is, but the Newark Star-Ledger apparently thinks it's credible enough to run.

Two thoughts -

1. Karma for busting on Mario? (just kidding about this)
2. Could it result in another "Unretirement" bringing the gap-toothed one back? (Serious about this one).

I'll chalk this up to karma, and I'm not kidding.

I saw the play and his knee just gave out as he was rushing the edge...it wasn't a direct hit on his legs or anything but he went down like a house of cards.

Moving Kiwanuka from OLB back to DE is more likely.

That's the thought that popped up in my head as well upon hearing the news. Maybe we can trade Weaver to the Giants for a 6 pack of beer.

Since Richard Smith likes to drop Weaver in coverage so often, maybe we can move him to OLB?

First thing that came into my head when I heard the news. However on a serious note I never like to see players go down full stop let alone in the pre-season. Thats a big blow to himself and to the Giants.

Just saw on the NFL Network ticker that Umenyiora is having season ending surgery on Tuesday to repair a lateral torn meniscus. Too bad for him and the Giants. (Although I am thinking that karma is a great thing.)

I wonder if they'd take Anthony Weaver off our hands?

I heard they are asking Strahan if he'd be interested in "un" retiring...

That goes as a warning to all those that would talk bad about Mario Williams.

Karma is on Mario's side, be warned. :bat:

As for unretiring, that is reserved for Brett Favre, he would be so miffed if someone else crowded his spotlight.

He got hurt so Mario wouldn't have to outright hurdle his play this year and make him eat his own .....words.

Want to talk Osi...err i mean Sh*t now? :wild:

ESPN was talking about it this morning. I think Strahan has them where he wants them. He can ask for alot, and they'll probably pay it.

Worse thing about this injury is that it gives the girls in Dallas reason to be happy. He gave them a good fight last season.
