View Full Version : Which RB Will Get The Most Carries?

Ryan

Our rb situation is a mess, so i'd like to ask you who will get the most carries? At this point, i'm gonna say Chris Brown just cause the optimist in me thinks he'll actually stay healthy. I also see Slaton getting a nice share of the load. What do you think?

If I had my way Green, Brown, and Shipp would be cut and have 0 carries.

Shipp is just a body right now, no way he makes the roster(barring horrendous injury).

My thoughts on Green and Brown. Not even warm bodies. They each have one foot in the proverbial grave.

Well this is the place where RBs come to die.

List of victims that was never heard of again:

DD
Wells
That guy from the Pats, his hometown was Houston
Dayne(so far)
Wali Lundy(he was so young too)

Soon to be:

Green

Shipp is already in the grave, i've heard his name maybe once since the beginning of his tremendous nfl career.

Green will rush for over 1,000 yards this season. :glasshalffull:

OK, I admit my glass has been over half full a couple of times tonight.

If they don't die here, they venture of to another team staggering on their last steps, before they are finish off.

Who voted Shipp? He must have a fan, because that's wishful thinking.

Don't forget James Allen.

Steve Slaton will have the most carries next season, because week 1 Ahman is going to trip getting off the bus in Pittsburgh and then Chris Brown will fall over him and both of them will be lost for the season. Steve Slaton by default. :gun:

ye of little faith :ohsnap: remember the Giants?

http://www.giants.com/news/headlines/story.asp?story_id=27210

There is a way to play all four that capitalizes on all their skills. Bradshaw and Jacobs could split first and second down carries, with complimentary running styles. Ward could be the third down and passing situations back, and Droughns could be the short yardage guy. Would that arrangement keep everyone happy, or not be enough to satisfy anyone? Itís a delicate balance.

Funny you list (well kinda list) Dayne in the poll .... If Slaton is the #1 I could see Dayne behind him (yeah I know a lotta people dont like him) He wont put up stellar numbers but would get ya 4ish per and hang onto the ball .... while being healthier than both Green and Brown..... Not to mention probably considerably cheaper than either. Not a long term solution but I could see it.

I think Taylor ends up the being the workhorse. At minimum I believe Taylor will be the short yardage back. If/when AGreen goes down, I think he'll be the primary back and Slaton will probably steal 8-10 touches a game regardless.

It will be interested how it unfolds because Kubiak (God knows I love him) tends to be a little sloppy with new situations and kind of perfects and corrects them as time goes on. So, September may have some strange RB rotations before the dust settles.

I chose Slaton. That is, until we bring back Mr. ChooChoo! :)

... oh, I thought you meant most times carried off the field. Slaton and Brown RBBC.

I voted Brown based solely on what I've read on the Chron, houstontexans.com, etc. Looking forward to seeing how Steve does against the cowboys today. :fans:

I voted for Slaton.

At this point, I don't think Brown and Green will last more than 6 games combined. Slaton will get his carries during that time. After that, I've gotta feeling Walker will start a lot, primarily because it will take Kubiak most of the season to give in and finally let Slaton (a rookie) start. In the end, I'm guessing the total number of carries is close between Walker and Slaton, but we will all wish Slaton had gotten the nod much, much earlier--although Walker won't be so bad.

I also voted for Slaton. I also don't think either Brown or Green will help us this year.

I envision Slaton to the lightning to go with Brown's thunder.

I'd rather have Dayne back that EITHER Green or Brown. At least Buffet Dayne will show up every game and run for you. The O-line just needs to learn to stay out of his way. If you could hang double meat cheeseburgers on the linebackers he'd crack at least 7 yards a pop. :splits:

Green's too old and no longer has the durability to stay on the field.

I think RB will be split by Taylor and Slayton. Taylor will get more carries than Slayton because Slayton will end up catching a many more passes

I don't think it really matters because if the defense plays well and the offense doesn't turn the ball over, this is a 550 attempt or 35 per game team. If that's the case, 1 guy will get 15, another 10, and another 10 for 35.

My pick is Slaton. I was really impressed from what I saw the other day from him. I never followed him in college, so I had no idea what he was bringing to the table. Hopefully he has the durability to withstand the pounding of being a featured back. I doubt they start him in that role, but he may be winner by default, which is fine with me.
