Half-time report:

First-off, the offense. Matt Schuab look set to have a pro-bowl type season, he looks really really good today. Same thing with Walter. Brown and Taylor looks pretty decent. Our run game looks alot better then last week at the end of the half. O-line again looks better in pass pro. then run blocking. I'm really impress by how much the pass protection improved from last year.

ST: I'm dissapointed in Jacoby. I know he wants to impress especially in his hometown, but he needs to make better football descisions. The defender was 5 feet away from him and it was stupid to even think that you could return it in that situation. He doing nothing but hurting our team right now, and I hope he gets his mind right before we go into Heinz Field. Or else, the back-up PR needs to get ready.

Andre Davis success last year is starting to look like a fluke.

Defense: Oh boy, don't get me started. Pass-rush dissappear til the last series, where Mario got pressure on Brees. Run defense was good at first, then wear down in the 2nd quarter. The defense had a back-to-back three and out series, so they did pretty good in the beginning.

Linebacker: Demeco showed us what Vinny was talking about on that one play against McCalister.(Art of Tackling) Didn't really notice Diles. Morlon looks like crap again.

Backs: Bennet is beasting, he had a nice tackle in the backfield against Bush, but was negated by a penalty. Reeves got punk'd on the 4th Saints possesion. In partciular, against Bush. After the stiff arm and trash talking by Bush to Reeves, Bennett came up and defend him. He showed good leadership there, proud of that dude.

Note: I was pschye to see Mario german-suplex Bush.:scarygirl:

Yeah, but the running game opened up play action and some big plays in the passing game. The Saints were honoring the run and left their corners exposed.

I'm going to agree with you. Jacoby has officially put his ass on notice. It's great how excited he gets before fielding a punt but dammit.....hold on to the damn ball! Speaking of which...I know it was last year but that muffed punt against the Titans was as bad as the Cook fumble against the Giants. (sorry to bring up bad memories but if we're going to move forward as a franchise we MUST protect the football).

I'm really hoping that the growing pains are coming to an end because if he makes the 53 man roster and continues to turn the ball over....we could be forced to make some tough decisions. What makes this worse is that Rick Smith has done an excellent job at finding talent throughout the draft....it'd be a shame if we can't mold JJ into a quality reciever/returner.

One last thing....David Anderson and Kevin Walter....one is becoming a quality pro and one is making me a believer. I'm now hoping DA makes the reg. season roster. The guy just shows up and goes to work! Gotta love that.

The muffed punt I remember against the Titans was David Anderson's. Jacoby was injured and they put Anderson back there to act as a PR. He hadn't practiced much at the position and muffed it.

Jacoby, otoh, took that little swing pass right at the beginning of the game and put it on the carpet.

Hate to bust your bubble but that was David Anderson. Here's what NFL.com says:

(6:52) 15-C.Hentrich punts 39 yards to HOU 31, Center-58-K.Amato. 89-D.Anderson MUFFS catch, RECOVERED by TEN-21-R.Hill at HOU 33. 21-R.Hill to HOU 33 for no gain (89-D.Anderson).

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/playbyplay?game_id=29287&displayPage=tab_play_by_play&season=2007&week=REG7&override=true

Jacoby was hurt. They stuck Anderson back there even though he hadn't practiced much at the position. During the press conference afterwards, Kubiak took the blame for putting Anderson in that situation when he hadn't practiced it, iirc.

Jacoby, otoh, took that little swing pass right at the beginning of the game and put it on the carpet.

No man, Jacoby muffed the punt at the end of the 4th quarter in Nashville when we were making our comeback. A couple first downs later and we lost the game. Are we talking about the same game?

Hate to bust your bubble but that was David Anderson. Here's what NFL.com says:

Jacoby was hurt. They stuck Anderson back there even though he hadn't practiced much at the position. During the press conference afterwards, Kubiak took the blame for putting Anderson in that situation when he hadn't practiced it, iirc.

Well, I don't care what nfl.com says, it was Jacoby that muffed the game away at Tennessee in the 4th quarter last season.

I think you guys are talking about 2 different games. The one Pencil Neck is referring to is the game when we made the comeback at home, that was the game that Anderson muffed the punt. JJ's muffed punt came in the game in Tennessee.

Thank you. I had a feeling we wern't talking about the same game.

My bad. I'll hide behind the "it was late and I was sleepy" defense.

Here's the one you were talking about:

(10:50) (Punt formation) 15-C.Hentrich punts 39 yards to HOU 32, Center-40-J.Cain. 12-J.Jones MUFFS catch, touched at HOU 29, RECOVERED by TEN-23-D.Nickey at HOU 29.

It's all good. :texflag:

After getting some rest, I woke up this morning feeling kind of bad for Jacoby. I mean, he muffed a punt in front of his family and hometown crowd and then fumbled again later on. I can only imagine how embarassed he was for his poor performance. Hopefully he did some personal reflection and is going to come back a little more attentive.

JJ scares me a little bit. The O was really clicking.
