I don't have a problem with it. He lead them to a National Championship and it isn't like UT has to worry about running out of #s because they retire one when they win a trophy. It is kinda slap in the face to all the other players that he carried to that championship but oh well.

Young definitely was a fantastic college QB (which is about where my respect and admiration for the man ends), but it's much too early to retire the number...it's been two years since, and mind you not a very good two years from Austin's favorite hype machine.
Whatever, as long as UT continues to win games, I couldn't care less.

Actually there is nothing funny about this thread........he should have his # retired. (College is not the NFL and even David Carr and Ron Dayne had their #s retired)
While I don't think Vince will ever become a great NFL QB, He was one of the greatest college QBs in the history of college football. His winning % as a starting college QB is right there with the alltime college greats and his performances in his bowl/title games are legendary..........his # being retired is well deserved.
Now if you want to start a thread about Durant's # being retired.......yeah, that's a joke. Durant's # should've NEVER been retired.

exactly, what Vince did do in College was amazing, I don't know how anyone could hate on that, (or someone could just hate the university which is fine)
I can't even hate on "dumbing" of the offense ... Mack and company did what they needed to do to get a championship.
He was simply sensational in college. By whatever criteria they have for retiring jerseys at UT I'm sure Vince would fill that.
