Two weeks after announcing his retirement, animated Giants defensive end Michael Strahan signed with Fox Sports as an NFL studio analyst, SI.com reported yesterday. The Associated Press reported that Fox will make the announcement at a news conference today.

After 15 seasons and seven Pro Bowls, Strahan will join host Curt Menefee and analysts Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson and Howie Long on the network's pregame show, Fox NFL Sunday.

Strahan, a natural for the spotlight, has worked for Fox part-time in recent years, appearing on Fox NFL Sunday as well as "The Best Damn Sports Show Period." Like Tiki Barber, his former teammate who joined NBC after retiring at the end of the 2006 season, Strahan's move to network television was an anticipated one.

What's the over/under on how many times Caliendo makes fun of his gap? Seriously, it's one of the best pre-game shows on and I think Strahan will make it better.

Who didn't see this coming?

I might have to check out Fox's pre-game this season. I usually tune into either NFLN or ESPN. The regular networks just seem so cheesy with their presentation these days.
