As we all know, the Houston Texans have a lot of "IF" factors heading into the 2008 NFL season. Depending on which one's come through that will make the difference between 6-10 and 10-6 imo. We've got a tough schedule but im confident the Texans will get a wild card birth "IF"

1) Matt Schaub stays healthy

2) Gibbs creates another masterpiece with the OL

3) Dunta Robinson comes back healthy

4) The secondary improves considerably

5) Mario picks up where he left off and plays the way he did over the last half of the season for the entire season

6) Amobi makes a similar 1st-2nd year jump that Mario did

7) Ahman Green stays healthy

8)Duane Brown makes a successful transition as an NFL LT much earlier than we could've hoped

Feel free to add your own "IF" factors. Plus, how many of these above would have to come to fruition for the Texans to make the playoffs this year?

2) Gibbs creates another masterpiece with the OL

I think he's got more to work with here than he did when he started in Atlanta .

I will go with Spencer, our two new CBs and running game. LT I expect to be Salaam & we know what he brings. Defense should be incrementally improved also.

Heck, after last season.... HEALTH is my main priority clearly above all else. We stay healthy, any other "IFs" I think will work themselves out more so in our favor than not.

You can add Jacoby Jones. If he can make the rookie to sophmore jump.

Also Add:
IF Anthony Weaver is able to stay healthy, provide some pass rushing, and solidly play the run.

If: Learn to win on the road. Only the Falcons, Jets, Dolphins & Ravens had worse road records than us. If we can go 6-2 at home (like we did last year) and 4-4 on the road; bingo: a 10 win season.

I'm going with this. I do expect an upturn in the running department however.

If we go 3-3 in the divison. We need to start beating the Colts and Titans more.

IF we drastically improve our giveaway/takeaway ratio. We were 31st in the entire league with a -13 turnover differential. That has to move over to the plus side; +10 or better would be super.

IF our defense/special teams can score 4/5 TDs a piece over the course of the season.

IF we improve our redzone efficiency. Let's get TDs instead of FGs, thank you.

Well, shoot. I'll going ahead and take a huge gamble and say that "IF" we win the Super Bowl, we will be just fine. :fans:

I think the biggest thing that needs to change goes along with the idea of getting more turnovers. We need to stop giving away all those easy 5 to 12 yard receptions, some of which go for much longer runs afterwards. Those DBs that have been mentioned really need to step it up. I think having Glenn Earl healthy will help; but I don't know how much, really. We need our secondary to contest all those passes more. I hope we can get to a point where the secondary knows its D well enough to stop using such vanilla Ds all the time. I know we always line up vanilla, and that's fine; but that doesn't mean we have to play vanilla, if these young guys can learn enough fast enough.

Other than not having a boatload of injuries, the turn over ratio will likely have the biggest impact on how well we do. Get it out of the minus collumn and into the plus and that alone will probably result in 3 or more extra wins.

Chris Brown staying healthy and playing well.

Chris Myers making an impact at center.

How can it be anything but Schaubs health/durability ?
If he's able to remain on the field this season and play as he did at the beginning of last year it will be huge for the Texans.

All of the above plus our QBs need to have at least a 2:1 TD:INT ratio.

Seems like alot of "ifs" here. Most could work out in our favor but, there really are alot of ????? still on this team. Maybe our playoff aspirations are a bit premature.

That'll be the day. :lion:

If our DT's remain relativly healthy after the bye week.
If one of the corner backs can cover for Robinson for nine games.
If Salaam can pile another six to ten games on to the twenty eight he already has on his thirty-four year old legs.
If Andre Davis, Jacoby Jones and Owen Daniels all stay healthy.

Absolute truth. If we're lucky, they'll come up with a few picks along the way.

If Duane Brown can earn the position at LT

If Spencer and Weary can get into playing shape and stay healthy

If Andre can stay healthy

If Faggins can get back to being a very good nickle back

If Demps can play like he did for the whole year

If Bennett can fast forward to playing like a fourth year CB

If Adibi can crack the starting line up

If Owen Daniels can play to his ability

If Jacoby Jones can regain his confidence
