ok, damn it! I'm not sure if Kubiak & Smith are willing to give Gibbs another ZBS seems like we're good now but the best OG is still on the board, I think, Roy Schuening, OSU would be a great value & fit :)

What Titan fans have to say about their recent pick, WIlliam Hayes

http://forums.titansonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35787
Welcome DE William Hayes/4th round pick #103
I googled his name and couldn't find anything.

Let's hope he really exists.
I tricked the FO and wrote in a fake name and threw it in their tumbler that they are picking the players from.
They are laughing at us on ESPN for this pick.
Of the guys at ESPN only Mel Kiper had him on a draft board or even knew he existed. Said in the old 12 round draft he may have gone in the 8th,9th or 10th..
Just saw that, no one knows who it is, don't have any clips of him or even his picture. WTH is the front office doing?
It looks like after one playoff season we've already gone back to rebuilding and we definitely don't seem to be using the highest quality building blocks.

Foxsports still hasn't updated the pick because they don't know who the guy is evidently.

and my personal favorite...

who?

LOL!

The thought of a mentally healthy Tommy Blake opposite of Mario Williams, with Okoye blowing up the middle is making me drool. I think I pass on him here, but if he is still there in the 5th, I take the gamble.

Adibi is probably my favorite on the board right now. I think he can unseat Greenwood at the will myself. Lot's of others that can still play though, so let's see what they come up with. Pick is about 4 away.

Why not. Plus Barber is a restricted FA next year and will ask for big bucks. This guy was BPA at the time and has the same skills. I love it. These guys can play ST, etc. I actually saw some things on him yesterday and thought he would be a tough pick for some team. Its more insurance a guy that was a top rusher in the ACC for 2 years straight.

This has been a great draft in terms of addressing postions of need but we still need to pick up a pass rush defensive end.

I doubt a guy like D. Robertson will be around in for our pick in the 5th, any thought on a player to address that need in the 5th?

I tend to agree with you. He looked like a great prospect until he just disappeared from the team later in the 2007 season. He's never been involved in criminal activity........that wasn't the problem. He had a severe problem with social anxiety and depression. Believe it or not, one of his major stresses that sent him over the edge was the barage of scouts calling him daily........said to be around 300. Because of privacy laws, the university was never able to explain his problem. [LINK] (http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/story/604036.html)

Brian Johnston[LINK] (http://www.nfldraftdog.com/2008_nfl_draft/brian_johnston.htm)..........

This season (2007), the senior Johnston was named Big South Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row, he recorded an impressive 74 total tackles, 37 being solo, a school and conference-record 24 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback sacks and 22 quarterback hurries. He finished ranked No. 2 nationally in tackles for loss on the season, and established new Big South Conference career records for sacks (20.5) and tackles for loss. Johnston finished his career as the top tackling defensive lineman in school history with 268 total tackles.

With the advent of the 34 defense in the NFL, those jumbo defensive ends like Johnston have been much sought after. Johnston has fought almost constant double teams, which is why his 6 sacks donít look that impressive, but he has proven to be very solid against the run, despite being double teamed, his 74 tackles, 20.5 being for a loss, prove that he can fight through multiple blockers and get to the ball carrier. Very good at using his hands, strong and quick, Johnston plays the game with a non-stop motor. He will have to increase his repertoire of pass rushing moves and continue to train to get stronger and quicker in the NFL, but he has the raw talent and skills to warrant a 4th or 5th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

You are correct...all that and nothing more than the pressures of the preseason all american hype, and all the scouts...not to mention the prying media types. He is an upstanding kid who was overcome by all the hype and pressure. LOL SURPRISE! I'm not mad though.

Guess we got our fatboy in the middle. He's the biggest DT in the draft.

he is the big DT i have been clamoring for. I would have preferred Red, but hopefully Okam can be that big body we need.

STEEL BLUE TEXANS

Texans needed a big space eater in the middle and they just got it.

The Pencil Neck
04-27-2008, 02:28 PM

Frank Okam it is, I quess Frnklin's praise of TJ was smoke as well.

Do you think they really needed to smokescreen for a 5th rounder?

BSofA04
04-27-2008, 02:28 PM
Might need to lose some weight, but was once considered a top 3 DT. Motor issues need to be resolved....could be the best value pick of the draft.

Count it.

So Blake at 173

Okam has taken a beating in the offseason. He basically ate his way out of the 1st day. But, he does provide value and should become a good rotational 2 gap DT.

Still a lot of pass rushers left???
