View Full Version : Brockington waiting for phone to ring

few months after completing a solid collegiate football career at Notre Dame, the Palmyra native, an inside linebacker, is hoping to get a chance to continue his gridiron career at the pro level, either as a late-round pick or through a free-agent invitation to an NFL training camp.

And the good news for Brockington is there seem to be people out there who think he can play. ESPN and Scouts, Inc. draft expert Todd McShay has Brockington being selected in the seventh round with the 235th pick in his mock draft projection, and no less than six NFL teams — Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals and, yes, the Philadelphia Eagles — have contacted the now former Fighting Irish ’backer this week and may do so again Sunday, depending on each team’s respective needs.

“I don’t know. I’m not really sure what’s gonna happen,” said Brockington, understandably uncertain of what to believe. “I’m just gonna kind of wait and see what happens. You never know.”

In his heart, though, Brockington knows he can play in the NFL, a notion that has been reinforced by the recent professional successes of former ND teammates Justin Tuck (Giants), Ryan Grant (Packers) and Chinedum Ndukwe (Bengals).

And also by his performance at Notre Dame’s Pro Day last month, when by his own analysis he turned in a strong performance for the NFL scouts in attendance.
