Fargas gets a 3 year, $12 million deal (http://www.contracostatimes.com/raiders/ci_8259468)to stay in Oakland.

"Justin really wanted to remain with the Raiders, and the Raiders made it clear that they wanted him back," Baker said. "He feels the offense very much suits his talents."

The proof is in the statistics Fargas compiled last season. He rushed for 1,009 yards on only 222 carries and scored four touchdowns, all career-highs, in his breakout season.

Fargas entered the season as the backup to LaMont Jordan and appeared destined to finish his fifth season with the Raiders in much the same way he did his first four, as an afterthought.

Re-signing Fargas makes it more likely that the Raiders will cut Jordan. The move also makes it less likely that the Raiders will bring back running back Dominic Rhodes for a second season and all but rules out their using a first-round pick in the NFL draft on Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.Interesting move that probably indicates Darth Raider is leaning toward one of the top d-linemen (Dorsey, Long, or Ellis) with their #1 pick.

Well that sucks.

I think this is a good move. I'm in favor of McFadden getting pushed down the draft board and a team really wanting a running back taking him or trading up for him. This would HOPEFULLY mean a better chance of Mendenhall falling to the Texans if we want him. Also, could be that a team in Need of a CB so chooses to take McFadden instead thus causing a CB to fall to us???

Just a thought wasn't Howie a Raider? He didn't do too bad....If Chris falls I think you can mark it as done.

As for Fargas ...eh. I'd feel better if he'd done it consistantly the past four years. Contract year + plus injuries ahead of him. Reminiscent of Lamont Jordan.

Fargas is a talent and would have been an inteesting addition here, but the
Draft is a natural place (and not FA), to pick up a good "dime a dozen" back
in maybe the 3rd round or later.
Fargas had a lot of injury problems in college as I recall (USC or UCLA ?),
but apparently he's become more durable in the pros ?

I just remember his game against us last year, which was very impressive.
The guy at 'bout 220 ran hard with determination and yet also has excellent speed.
I dunno, but from the sounds of the stats you site his game against us
last year with > 20 carries & > 100 yards was an aberration in his NFL career.
