I couldn't find the link to support this statement, but I remember seeing a stat on ESPN that said something along these lines.
The `72 Dolphins only faced 4 teams with a non-losing record that season.
The Patriots have faced...
Week 1 -> Jets 4-12
Week 2 -> Chargers 11-5
Week 3 -> Bills 7-9
Week 4 -> Bengals 7-9
Week 5 -> Browns 10-6
Week 6 -> Cowboys 13-3
Week 7 -> Dolphins 1-15
Week 8 -> Redskins 9-7
Week 9 -> Colts 13-3
Week 10 -> Bye
Week 11 -> Bills 7-9
Week 12 -> Eagles 8-8
Week 13 -> Ravens 5-11
Week 14 -> Steelers 10-6
Week 15 -> Jets 4-12
Week 16 -> Dolphins 1-15
Week 17 -> Giants 10-6
Week 18 -> Divisional Playoff -> Jags 11-5
Week 19 -> Conference Playoff -> Chargers 11-5

What's the point?
The Dolphins faced opponents with a combined winning percentage of .372 with only 4 of their opponents (Chiefs and Giants at 8-6 and the Vikings and Jets at 7-7) having a non-losing record. 6 of their 14 opponents had 9 or more losses including our own 1-13 Houston Oilers.
The Dolphins drew the Browns in the first round and at the time, were the 3rd lowest scoring team in the AFC.
They went on to a big Super Bowl win of 14-7.
I don't know guys and gals...I guess that maybe I'm just tired of seeing Shula and the rest of those guys ramble on and on about how great their accomplishment was...when it seems to me that they faced NOBODY!
Thanks for letting me rant a little bit.

Thoughts anyone?
