Nice 3 & out for the SD defense. Looks like both teams are having issues with the wind.

Bernie Kosar, I mean Phillip Rivers needs to play well. Charger D may be good enough to give them a shot.

Great play by Jammer.
So far we got a ball game, though NE is extra tough in the 2ned half.
Wind seems to be bothering Brady more than Rivers.

I think so. I mean the guy led the league in rushing has set records in TDs over the past few years and is a devestating pass catcher. He also throws TDs. I think there is a big difference and overall mixing it up always helps. I doubt NE plays the same defense when LT is in. Opens things up.

Plus he is one of the best in history in finding the goalline in close.

A "leg-whip" isn't any more legal by a defender than it is for an Offensive player. Vrabel clearly kicked (& connected) at Rivers, that's what affected the ball trajectory & caused the pick. Watch the replay / DVR, etc. - Vrabel didn't get him with his hands, he got him w/ his LEGS.

Notice I said in the rushing dept., because I think Turner is close to LT as a
pure running back. Now I'd be the last to say he has LTs versatility.

nunusguy
01-20-2008, 04:25 PM
Pats use there first-rounder on Mankins a few years ago. Of course it was
the last pick of the first, so virtually a second-rounder, but just shows they
will use a top pick on a player they rate really high and are commited to
even though few teams would dream of using such a high pick on a mere guard.

Bolts too good for NE to steamroll...reminds me of when the Oilers were the best team in the NFL except for the Hall of Fame Steeler dynasty team that stood in the way. In those years the real Super Bowl was the AFC Championship game.

WesmanTexanfan

That last 2nd & 7, NE got away w/ neutral zone infraction / offsides. A 3rd & 2 would've been a LOT more interesting.

I bring these little bits up because these sliight "shading" of calls / non-calls are the stuff that make me hate officiating at times.

I wouldn't say that. The Cowboy/Steeler Super Bowls were tops and some of the best games ever. Espcially the 35-31 Jackie Smith drop game. I think the Cowboys had one of their best teams ever.

As far as this game. The Charger defense is playing great but the team needed the last TD at 3rd and 1. That was too good a drive to end with a FG.

I know but in that decade Dallas and the Steelers, along with Miami were fierce. That's when I first became a football fan as a kid and either Dallas or the Steelers could beat most teams in any decade. They were both loaded with top players.

I really was hoping this went to the wire but you are going to get burned putting up FGS.

HoustonFrog

Really weak to punt there. I think at the 35 you have to start looking at your possessions. A drive here would put the game away.

interesting, I don't recall seeing an "action" figure in sports done like this, usually it is standing or doing something else
