View Full Version : Ice Bowl II Gameday:Giants vs Packers

Forecasts are calling for thermometer readings around 3 degrees for the 5:30 p.m. CST kickoff; yep, a night game in January on the Green Bay tundra. If the wind kicks up, temperatures certainly will dive below zero, and head toward the NFL records.

The coldest game in NFL history was not the 1967 NFL title game at Lambeau Field when the Packers beat Dallas 21-17 in the Ice Bowl. It was minus 13 that day and the wind chill factor was estimated at minus 48.

what a day to play a little football.

I probably jinxed them but Green bay wins this on 24-14

Buuuurrrrr. It's already too cold as it is now in Texas, can't imagine being that cold. Of course I'll be looking for that uber fan or two that aren't wearing shirts. Those dudes are hardcore if you ask me.

Or reallllll drunk and wanna get on TV? :)

What wimps though, really, its just a little bit chilly. Try watching David Carr at QB for 5 years, now THAT is uncomfortable! :thumbup

I bet they start getting really cold when they stop serving beer at the end of the 3rd qtr. That's when reality sets in and possibly hypothermia as well.

beer=Liquid Insulation
instead of using r-value of r-13 to r-19 to r-25 etc on the insulation scale ...the Beer scale using ACL(Alcohol concentration Limit) of .06 ,acl-.O8, to acl of 1.0 etc etc :shots: :beerfunnel: :drunk:

Most of you weren't even a gleam in your daddy's eye, but I remember that game like it was yesterday. I remember the chair I was sitting in, the TV I was watching, in the house I was living in. When Bart Starr sneaked into the endzone behind Jerry Kramer's block on Jethro Pugh with just 13 seconds left, I jumped out of that chair yelling "YEAHHHHHHHH!" the loudest I could possibly yell it. I remember my father yelling back at me from the kitchen, "Will you settle down in there?"

It's one of those games you remember the rest of your life.

the Giants have been looking awful good lately ?
I jumped on the Giants & 7 last week, and the wife & I watched the
game in the "Piano Bar" lounge at Harrah's while the Giants eked out a win
on the road in Irving.

Actually yes! It beats seeing Reggie Bush or another player who has yet to step up and lead his team to the Big gamr do another commercial! I am not an Eli fan and did not like his draft day antics, but the guy stood up to all the critics and lead his team to the SB and an NFL record 1o straight road wins. He manned up when called upon so I will give him his props and even suffer through his commercials!

I'll give them that completely. It is who is hot at the end of the year. I have always said that despite the stats that I think some teams who are fighting for their lives starting early on at the end of the season have an advantage. Despite beating my Boys I'll have to hope for an undefeated season and the end to the old Miami mafia of whining.

My dislike of Eli Manning stems from his draft and all the "Not going to sign if you draft me" B.S. that he and his camp flung around.

I'm also not excited about Eli being in the remaining 25% of TV commercials that don't already feature Peyton and/or Reggie. I'm already drowning in Peyton Manning commercials on game day.

In short I hope the Giants are destroyed in the Super Bowl. I literally want to see them driven out of our collective memory of the game.

I don't have an agenda behind this question, but what about them Elway did the same thing?

Hervoyel

I don't have an agenda behind this question, but what about them Elway did the same thing?

I know and I was never a big fan of John Elway. Unlike Eli however he had the option of playing baseball if he didn't like the situation he was drafted into in the NFL. He wasn't doing the "I'll take my ball and go home" bit, he was saying "I can play another game" and that was essentially true.

I think the NFL is "what it is" today because the system is the best in sports. It works and yes, the worst team gets the first pick in the following years draft. It's an excellent method of trying to maintain competitive balance. The kind of crap that Eli and Archie pulled undermines that in my opinion.

I have been saying the same exact thing about Eli and Elway. I still dislike Elway to this day for not going to Indy. The draft works. Now if we can just get a rookie salary cap established so people like Reggie Bush and Alex Smith and countless others don't make a killing without ever doing anything in the nfl.
