Man, how sweet it would be if the Pats lose their first playoff game after a perfect regular season.

A really impressive drive by the Jaguars there. Starting off on their own five yard line because of MJD's fumble and they go the distance to shift momentum and get right back in the game.

Well done Jags.

Moss is being blanketed. and you can't cover him anyways. Brady just wants to open up the field for the sure thing, the Jags secondary is too good.

Wow, Maroney's on a monster roll.

A big reason I HATE Belichick.

I spent my first-round fantasy pick (#11) on Maroney. The guy is immensely talented but he got shafted all freakin year by BB's pathological drive to rub the NFL's face in the dirt and prove a point that only Belichick can stop a Belichick-coached team.

Maroney's inexplicable disappearance from the Patriot offensive scheme was a big reason my team tanked. Watching him explode from week 13 on just pisses me off.

FYI if Brady doesn't throw another incompletion he will set a new NFL record for single game completion percentage (min 20 att). He's 25 for 27 (92.6%), eclipsing Vinny Testaverde's 91.3 % set against the Rams in '93.

I think this game illustrated a very important point.

The Jaguars were trying to play the Pats using the Richard Smith philosophy of just rushing four. And with that philosophy, if you don't get pressure with your front four, you have to pray for the other team to screw up. The Pat's don't screw up unless you make them screw up. That was the wrong gameplan on defense for this game.

That's why we've made backup QB's look like all-stars at times. Some backup QB's are backups because they don't make quick decisions but they can make slow ones. And if you don't force the issue, they can sit back there and not screw up.

This isn't exactly anything that everyone else hasn't already said (esp. eloquent TC) but I just wanted to point out that this is an excellent illustration of why we need to be more aggressive. We're not going to beat good teams by waiting for them to screw up on offense.

I'm sure Belichick is rubbing his evil hands together and grinning that evil pained grin of his thinking about how he screwed over your fantasy football team.

Luckily, I had Maroney and Westbrook as my running backs with Adrian Peterson as my backup. I dropped Maroney and picked up Jamal Lewis.

(Actually, my league allowed 4 RB's, and I carried Ahman Green for a good part of the season, too.)

kastofsna
01-13-2008, 02:20 AM
if you are serious about fantasy football you're a loser.

and Belichik didn't use Maroney much because he knew that he could easily fool people into thinking their running game is a weakness. unstoppable offense.

Not trying to be rude here, but that's a lame reason to hate Belichick. Disliking the guy because the offense he uses screwed over your fantasy football team seems silly

I was saying the same thing to my buddies last night. You have to pressure the guy somehow. If rushing four is working well then its great. If not, they will just run the ball at you and complete short passes and march down the field.

You do have to be careful in that if you blitz to often and its picked up they will just find the single coverage and air the ball down the field. They are just a bad ass team and can beat you multiple ways.
