interesting that vy is going to be playing. seems like on a wet field he could reinjure himself more easily than on a dry field.

oh well...here's to hoping LT goes off on the tians for 150+ rushing.

This is a winnable game for the Titans, but starting VY is asking for trouble. Time to see if he's "all that" or not. Nobody else in the NFL wanted to accept plantar fasciitis (sp?) as an excuse for Mario last year, so why should VY's groin/quad injury be a crutch?

Hate to say it, but I'm kinda pulling for the Titans just so the AFC South will have three teams out of four in the divisional round.

Why? The better our division represents itself in the playoffs, the more respect we *should* get for finishing 8-8.

texasguy346
01-06-2008, 06:10 PM
Chambers looks awful. On two plays in the endzone he hurt his team. One the first he failed to bail his QB out by knocking the ball away from Finnegan, and on the other he didn't go up for the ball at all & let Griffin knock it away from him. With Gates likely out for the game the Chargers are going to have a hard time scoring points if Chambers continues to play like he has in the first half. Hopefully LT will be able to get something going in the second half.

Well, they are missing Scaife and the top receiver in this game and they've got injuries along their front line. Mawae is out, etc.

But, yeah, if they had better receivers, they'd look a lot better. But is it a situation like Vick? The receivers always seemed to drop Vick's passes even when they were on target but those same receivers could catch Schaub's passes just fine.

I think in 3 years, "developing" like he has Vince Young will be out of football.

I'm sorry, he was magic against USC and he kicked the Texans butts at Reliant last year but apart from that I'm not seeing the guy so many people see (and who I expected to see to tell the truth). I'm seeing a guy who's either not getting the coaching he needs or who can't take the coaching he needs. Vince Young doesn't scare me. Not even a little bit. Jeff Fisher and his defense scare me.

I was working during the game today. However, when the game ended...I could hear the proverbial "SH*T!" ring out across the air here in Austin, Texas. It was a beautiful sound.

I don't care what excuses they make for him, Young is garbage. The new Christ at QB only managed 9 TDs and 17 INTs all season. Completing only 62% of his passes for 2546 yards. He also lost as many fumbles as rushing TDs he scored (3), while fumbling 10 times. I think it's fair to say that one of the biggest problems that the Titans have is at the QB position. They win in spite of this guy, not because. Young makes Collins look appetizing, which is pretty sad.

I look forward to the day that the media crowns him a bust and Austin shuts the hell up about the draft.

Yeah 2 seasons have passed and he hasn't improved IMO. I think they would have been better off with Collins as well. When he threw that INT I was like wow that was horrible. He is just all over the place and I think a lot of it is mental. I think the pressure is getting the best of him and as we saw with Carr, the outcome is not good. I am not comparing VY with Carr as far as skills, I am comparing the pressure of having to carry a team. I think VY has it worse, after what he did for Texas everyone expects the same for the Titans.

Without being jaded, and hating here are my takes

1) The Titans were supposed to be competing for the #1 pick this year not the playoffs, so props to them

2) VY did not have a good year

3) Tenn's D is tough but got worn down because of being on the field too much

4) S.D. isn't that good either but I think alot of the running problems were due to missing their safety valve and top 2nd weapon Gates

5) M. Turner is NOT better than L.T....give me a break

6) Next year is big for VY. He always had quieted doubters so we will see how much work he puts in this off-season. I don't think he was horrible yeasterday, they just have no weapons so the key is to be conservative, make no mistakes and have the D win it.

Just because the Titans have cap space does not mean they will use it. Last offseason they had a large amount of money to spend and did little with it. This season, at this point, they have @42 mil to spend but remember we are talking about Bottom Line Bud here. If he does like last offseason he will make good offers to players but those players will go elsewhere for great offers and the ICOU will be left with all kinds of unspent cap space.

Wasn't he leading the NFL for like 4 or 5 games his last season with us?

How may more years is he going to need?

Heck if I know. His rookie year is rookie of the year and this year he was horrible. I'm not sure how he will turn out but with your thinking Steve Young would never have made it. I'm just saying they will give him next year and surround him with more talent. Who knows. I'm not defending him.

As I said, yesterday he started the game nicely. As they got into more trouble he had to throw some more and they just don't have the weapons and he isn't made for that. I didn't think he lost it for them. They just gave him a very simple game plan and he didn't do much besides it.

He also led the NFL in qb rating at one point.

No.. First he was starter in the USFL, and then started 19 games (5 his first year and 14 his second) with Tampa Bay in his first two seasons in the NFL.

It wasn't until he went to SF where he was Montanas back-up but still started 3 games each of his first 3 seasons with the Niners.

....FWIW

16/29? I've certainly seen worse numbers from him.
4.7 YPA is horrendous. 53.5 passer rating.

If the Titans had Tony Gonzalez at TE, Andre Johnson as the #1 WR and Reggie Wayne as the #2 WR, I still don't think Vince would be much that much better as a QB. Sure, it would help, but I don't think Vince's performance sucked this season because he didn't have great talent at those positions. His performance sucked because he sucked

Its refreshing to see im not the only one that feels that VY sucks. Living in Austin this is what I hear. Texas is Cowboy country and people in Austin would rather watch VY instead of the Texans. I wonder what these fans would be saying if VY was a Redskin, or Eagle.

You'd be seeing #10 Redskin or Eagle jerseys, no doubt about it.

On a side note not that rep means anything but I just handed a bunch of you guys rep for entertaining me and joining me in the VY bash fest. Where were you guys when I needed you on the homer boards!!
