View Full Version : How to Spot a Texan Bandwaggoner

Well, now that we're going to have an actual bandwaggon we need a guide on spotting a bandwaggoner...

If they do not know about David Carr - 25 points
If they do not know about Domanick Davis - 12 points
If they do not know about Sharper/Glenn - 11 points
If they do not know about Boselli - 7 points
If they do not know who scored the first TD - 6 points
If they do not know about '19-10' - 14 points
If they do not know about Capers - 10 points
If they do not know about Casserly - 8 points
If they do not know about Gaffney - 9 points
If they cannot hold an intelligent conversation about the Texans - 40 points
Can't name each season's record - 1 point per season.
If they're younger than 10 - take off 3 points.

Add them up and see what you get.
51+ points - definite bandwaggoner
36-50 points - most likely a bandwaggoner
16-35 points - followed the team at a distance
2-15 points - has a bad memory
0-1 point(s) - One of Us. :fans:

It’s all in your head. I’m a fan, er…bandwagoner, and I barely hold an intelligent conversation about anything. Especially this late on Sunday evening.

Pretty sure it was Miller. This is the closest I could find but I doubt Sherrod Gideon was playing with the first team.

I didn't really intend to challenge it or call you out, just thought it was funny that someone would bring up a question for spotting a bandwagoner and then admit to being unsure of the answer...

Think of the Monty Python bridge keeper and "African or European?" aka don't be an unsure bridge keeper or you might be launched into the abyss yourself.

I thought it was sound advice, not to mention a pretty cool metaphor.

I feel your pain...Right now I'm trying to delude myself into thinking the Titans don't actually exist and therefore illogical for them to be playoff-bound.

It's not working...keep getting flashes of this every time I close my eyes, accompanied by a sinister cackle that only the damned could possibly take solace in.

We need to modify a few of these.

If they still claim David Carr is a good quarterback.
If they still say we give up more sacks than any other team.
If they listen to Casserly for his draft insights.
If they think we didn't give Benny Joppru enough chances.
If they like the Texans... even if we didn't draft VY.
If the logo is the only reason they like the team.

Yeah.

And for putting you through the coma during 2-14 (and related atrocities).

I'd also like to add, anyone that subscribes to:

0-1 point(s) - One of Us. :fans:

1. Crappy QB, owns NFL records for most sacks in a season, and most consecutive completions in a game. Er... Was given a ridiculous contract considering he was hardly proven in Kubiak's system. Only had 3 300 yd games... (I think). Those are the only ones I can remember. :P EDIT: He was 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards among QBs in 2004. Had 1,000 total after his tenure here.

2. Pepsi Rookie of the Year 2003. Played 4 seasons with us, 1 he was on IR the whole season. The other 3 he averaged 1,000 yards a season. He blew his knee out and was never the same again. Our only 1,000 yard rusher in team history.

3. Both were released. :P Aaron Glenn - one of the 2 Texans first named to the probowl in 2002. I believe they were released because they were aging and money problems? I don't know, was too young to notice transactions for reasons. :P Was like 13.

4. 1st pick in expansion draft. Never played a down for us. Wore 71, and for some reason, people still wear his jersey.

5. Billy Miller. 19 yard TD pass.

6. High expectations for him. Had helped Pathers get to the playoffs when they were an expansion team. He was a bust coach. Always had a dumbfounded look on his face, reguardless of what was happening on the field.

7. Terrible GM of the Texans 2002-2006. Made many idiotic picks and trades. Most noteworthy is the P.Buc trade. Had a good 2006 draft. But the previous 4 were terrible. Scapegoat of many of the Texans problems prior to the Kubiak era. And rightfully so.

8. 2nd round pick of the Texans in 2002. Was a bust in Houston and ultimately was happy to go play "for a real franchise".

9. You tell me.

10. 4-12, 5-11, 2-14, 6-10, 8-8.

11. Age: 17. Not eligible for point deduction.

Did I win?!

I can tell ya answers to a few, but there are some I can't get indepth with. I used to have season tickets, then I joined the Navy so I'm here stationed in guam (on a submarine). Its been a hard for the last couple years to follow the Texans and see games cause they don't get broadcast hardly where I'm at.

I'm with the Texans through thick and thin. BTW, everytime we gone out to sea, I wear my Texans Cap everyday underway

corytx8, 1st thanks for your service to me and our country and God speed on your way home to your family and friends! Give a "shout out" from your Texans to your crewmates and wishing you and them a Happy New Year!
I live in Nashville (born and raised in Houston) and here in the "land of the Phillistine's", I get more abuse for my Texans Pride! I went to the game against the flaming meatballs at LP Field and absorbed their abuse but, call me a homer/loser/dreamer, I'm a Texan! I compare Bud Adams with Al Quieda and the local inbred hillbilly's seem offended!? Don't know why? Geeze, almost got in a confrontation at a store last night, when a "meatball" fan yucked it up about them making the playoff's and I told him I pray they lose!

Can I answer the qustions on this quiz? No, not all. Does it make me a "bandwagon fan"? If, the definition rely's on this, call me a bandwaggoner! But, in enemy territory, I fly my Texan flag!

God Bless son! Hurry home...

What sucks is that yesterday was another "sell out"! The tickets are bought, but are completely WASTED by the purchasers, so instead of letting regular fans use them to FILL UP THE FREAKIN' STADIUM, whoever/whatever just lets them go to the trash and we end up with a 70% capacity home closer.

I wish ACTUAL ATTENDENCE numbers were released instead of the Texans FO bragging about continuous sellouts. But I think that's all they really care about, so obviously they celebrate the worthlessness of it all instead of promoting a PACKED STADIUM.

The main problem is that stub hub and other ticket brokers get there slimy little hands on all these tickets and then inflate the price a 100%.

I have no problem sitting in the 635 section. Those are pretty decent seats. I think face value is a $65 ticket. A bit pricey IMO. Then stub hub buys them all and charges $120.00 a ticket and will sell you a parking pass for $50.00.

I am not paying that. Stub Hub can keep there damn ticket and the Texans will continue to have half empty stadiums until they do something about it.

yeah, that's part of the problem.

But I found 600 section seats for around $37/each on StubHub, which is just $2 per ticket more than face value. Of course they add on a handling fee, but I've found some decent deals.

Obviously, the opponent makes a big difference. I bought my mom and her bf two 500 tickets in our section for the Titans game, and those were $45 face value, but we paid around $120+ for each of them. That was hard to swallow, but it was for my mom's b-day, and since she'd never been to Reliant (swore she'd never go), I thought it was money well spent for a fun day for her.

Other anti-bandwagon credit for these:

Who got steamrolled by Shockey in that first preseason game? (yeah that was easy Kevin Williams 23).

Triple bonus points for naming the Texans player who sustained the severe neck injury in that game (Leomont Evans). I sent him a Get Well card and he actually sent me a hand written thank you note. I'll never for get that. I think it may have been his last (and first) time to play in an NFL game.

C'mon people, it's Billy Miller for both. That's like a core knowledge requirement for Texans Fan 101.

Take comfort in the Titans going to the playoffs, the only way they will go any further will be because of Kerry Collins. After all they are only playoff bound because of Kerry Collins not VY! It was sad to see the annoucers last night trying to see the injury sustained, but they couldn't. It was the same phantom pain that appeared before he was to face the Texans in Reliant this year. He knew he couldn't repeat his hometown heroics so he pulled up lame before the game. He would have gotten owned by Mario like Reggie Bush did this year. And just last night - he knew he couldn't win against the 2nd string Colts - so he pulled the losers limp syndrome. Lucky for him Collins took the reigns.

"Homefield advantage" my ass. What a bunch of moronic slogans.

Is this different than any other of the stadiums?

Here's an easy and simple way to find out if you are a true Texans fan. You'll know if you're a true fan by the way you feel from watching this.

Nauseous. A good comeback for us, wishing for slippery grass below Rob's feet, and seeing the stadium empty prematurely - per the norm.

Better yet, answer this question. Did you see it as it happened or in the highlights. I felt sick to my stomach and proud at the same time. When I watched as it happened.

I will put it this way... The bill of my cap was touching the netting as Bironas' game winning field goal went through... :gun:

Are Houston football fans different than football fans in other cities?

I don't see many folks jumping on the 'bandwagon' of a team that has never had a winning record in it's history.

If you're still with this team after 6 years of futility and a 32-64 record, then you're a fan. :texflag:

They will. We will be the "dark horse" playoff pick at the beginning of next season...(pending a good offseason as expected). Then bandwaggoners will come!

And I was right next to Bill's Bill.

Honestly though, ONLY because the future in-laws were there. Otherwise, I may have left :(
