Let's get our first winning season Texans! :fans:

Well, technically, it won’t be a winning season but rather a non-losing season. But that still works for me. Here’s to 8-8!

And that's main thing, not being losers anymore. From this season forward, I don't want any more losing seasons. I know injuries are part of the game, but if we didn't have any injuries to our starters this season, I have a feeling we'd already have our 8 wins and not be here wishing for our eighth.

While the injuries have been bad, if we don't protect the football better then mediocre is the best we can hope for.
I really hope the guys come out fired up today and give us all a good feeling heading into the offseason.
Go Texans!

We had better beat the Jags now that they are not playing Taylor, Jones-Drew, most of their defensive starters and are playing Gray over Garrard. This "should be" a done deal...

Wow. What a bonehead play by that jacksonville guy. Good for us. :whip:
Pitts is our best lineman. Everyone makes mistakes, he doesn't make a habit of it.
If Pitts is our best lineman, than our o-line may perhaps be the worst in history. How many times have we heard "False Start, #69" since his time here? How many times has he been ran over for a ridiculous looking sack? I will give him this, he's better than Salaam. Unfortunately, that's like saying "well, he's better than Carr".
If anyone has stepped up to be our best starting lineman, it would be Brisiel. He or Winston. The right side of our line is actually above-average. Unfortunately, Flanagan, Pitts, and Salaam are all weak enough for both sides of the line.
PS. Woot! Good special teams, let's make something of it.

A good job by Dayne and Leach. However, it goes back to the o-line. If you have Tivo, go back and watch the CBS replay of the TD. You'll notice that right side of the line opened up a fairly large, workable hole. As the left side was getting mowed over. Just something to note.

Our line was the worst in history.
How many times have we heard "False Start, #69" since his time here?
Not so much lately, he has really grown as a player.
If anyone has stepped up to be our best starting lineman, it would be Brisiel. He or Winston.
Winston false starts more than Pitts easy. Brisel has played well since he's come into the starting line.

Well, when you run to the left and the left offensive line gets burnt so badly...it's hard to drive forward, regardless of how big you are. Watch Dayne run right, watch Dayne score a TD (first scoring drive).

In retrospect, our offense needs to pick it up in the 2nd half. We got one TD by a good drive, one by a gimme, and another they had nothing to do with.

can anyone tell me why AD isn't the number two receiver instead of 83?
Simple. Because 83 is the better receiver. Gets open more, runs better routes, and never drops the football.

the whole team needs to pick it up. the defense is getting outplayed by the second string q and running backs.

I think Davis just sealed Mathis' fate, Davis can return but he also can catch a ball.

and he blocks really well for a reciever. I consider him our version of Wes Welker.

Maybe it is because they wear the same number.

Pretty much. Andre` Davis has ended Mathis's career as a Texan. I just wish there was some team silly enough to give up a draft pick for him :(
Also, as much as we all love Davis, I think Walters finds himself open a lot more, and is pretty sure handed as well as being a great blocker.
The defense needs to get on the ball quickly or this is going to be ugly in the second half.

I agree. If Davis is resigned and with JJ in the mix, we have at least one position on the team that can be ignored during the off season.

gets open more and runs better routes? i don't know about that. i believe the only reason he is starting is because he has the bigger contract. Davis is a playmaker and should be on the field.
as evidenced by his second kickoff return he just had.

Well ...
A while back I made a post comparing the Patriots Recievers to ours.
Randy Moss/ Andre Johnson = The Star
Wes Welker/ Kevin Walter = Utility Man
Donte Stallworth/ Andre Davis = Deep Threat
Ben Watson/ Owen Daniels = Receiving TE.
The things the Pats have that we don't (On offense):
Recieving Running Back = Kevin Faulk
HB/FB Hybrid = Heath Evans
4th Reciever = Jabar Gaffney
Things we have that the Pats do not have (On offense):
Punishing blocking FB = Vonta Leach
WR with great Potential = Jacoby Jones
Our players are all younger.
Why is the defensive line getting so dominated today? Are they just throwing out a million guys at Williams and the rest of the line is just not dominating any 1 on 1's?
I have been drinking a little so I haven't really seen what was really going on.

okay, i'm not watching this game so i didn't see the AD return, but considering that the texans have been getting consistent big returns on kickoffs the last three years with different returners (even dexter wynn had some big returns), shouldn't we give most of the credit to joe marciano's coaching of that unit and the solid play of guys like faggins, cook, and clark?
that's not to take away too much from AD. it's pretty damn hard to break one for a touchdown, much less two, but i think major props are in order for marciano and the rest of the unit above all.

Marciano is one of the best ST coaches in the NFL. So of course he gets credit especially when you consider that we've returned twice as many kickoffs for TD's today than the Bucs have returned in their franchise's history.

No, he's got too much money, and too many previous outstanding performances from earlier in his career to get completely jettisoned after 1 year.
He will fight for his spot on the roster I imagine though. I think that his real danger is he might become 2nd string or be below somebody on the depth chart.

I agree with this. If this carries to next year, I see no reason to get a new RB. Build that secondary and o-line. We need those more than we need a RB.

Our RB situation is serviceable for an 8-8 team. With a good O line they'll be somewhat better. In the long run, we need a good RB. But the O line and the defensive backs need to come first.

Dayne will not last forever (unfortunately), but I've seen enough from Walker and Taylor to give them a chance to carry the load next year as we build our very weak spots. Hell, if Walker keeps playing the way he is...he could be that good RB of our future. He's got some pretty strong skills.

if taylor comes back healthy after only playing one year and walker after the same, we could do some damage if we improve the line. wouldn't that fit into kubiak's philosphy of system running backs?
