Anyone giving Baltimore a snowball's chance in hell?

I'm not.

However, I'm interested to see if Troy Smith gets any reps this game.

Boller is playing well, but he is taking a beating back there. If he was as durable as Schaub, he would be out of the game already. They'd better protect him better or we may just see Troy Smith.

In my pickem league the line was NE by 20.5.
So my choices were:
1. take NE(ie i believe they will win by at least 20.5)
2. take Balti(ie believe Baltimore wins or loses by less then 20.5).

I took The Ravens.

that holding call was 100% legit. poor play by a backup safety. easy as that.

as for the 'boggle' out of bounds, he had the ball with 2 hands on it. it was a damn good catch and he got both feet in while the ball was undercontrol by 2 hands. Clutch play.

They lost the game on Brady's scramble on 4th and 6. Ray was watching Brady's eyes and Brady looked to Ray's right and Ray bought the fake, cheated to his right and Brady scrambled for a first down to his left. Brady schooled Ray when it counted. That is Ray's responsibility and Brady took advantage of him. Old school style. Once that play happened I knew there was no way Brady was going to lose the game.

Billick and Ryan's ill-timed timeout didn't help things either. Billick is like kryptonite to winning football games. His teams are inventing new ways to lose and blow games....been going on for a few years now. That guy is still gravy training off that Super Bowl but I think the well is gonna dry up this offseason.

Great game from beginning to end. every possession was crucial and contested. the hitting was top notch and all 3 aspects of each team were important in deciding the game.

OT - McNair should try and take a run at one of the Ryan boys as DC this offseason. You would have to make them Defensive Head Coach or Assistant Head Coach or something, but I think it could be a nice marriage. We need an attacking defensive mindset and some enthusiasm, passion, and fire.

Refs? Why didn't they call the pass interference on Mason when he tackled Samuel at the end on the hail mary then. That WR could have slipped through them like a greased pig. Hell, if the Ravens don't implode with penalties at the end that could have easily been a touchdown.

They should have let Scott beat the crap out of the coaching staff for calling that timeout.

At the beginning of the season we were seeing that timeout from the sideline work in favor of the team calling it. I've seen quite a few recently were it is starting to backfire.

Oh My God.

Didn't say the TD wasn't legit. That is one call I think they got right. I said they were greasy. The only call i had a big problem with was the Moss PI call. If the defender is planted you can't just run them over and have PI called on the defense. That was b.s. I didn't like the defensive holding call either in that situation. Seemed like a bailout for them.

Overall though the Ravens killed themselves and the Pats just got greasy lucky....which I hate. The timeout was bad, the fumble after the int was bad and the Pats O-lineman saved their perfect record by messing up.

I got in on the last quarter of the game. It was lost by the coaches. I've never seen so many bone head calls. Especially late in the game. Then, of course, frustration sets in and players start making poor decisions....like throwing the flag into the stands. By that time, it was too late.

ray is an emotional guy. he really is the 'Godfather' of The U's NFL alumni so I was not surprised to see him rally around ST's death and maybe even use it for motivation. its a millionaire's boys club in the NFL. these guys are close and have a lot of emotional ties. I am going to give Ray the benefit of the doubt and say those tears were legit (especially considering the wind...that can tear you up by itseslf) too bad it couldn't help him stop Brady scrambling on 4th and 6.....

does anyone else think that Ray is gonna make a helluva coach if he so chooses. not head coach right off the back but that guy is already at co-ordinator level with his knowledge. his checkered past in Atlanta on Super Bowl week is a black eye that will never go away but you just can't question his love for the game and competition.

Correct, but the ref has to watch the LOS, not the sideline. He isn't capable of knowing if the HC issued the timeout or not.

Correct, but the ref has to watch the LOS, not the sideline. He isn't capable of knowing if the HC issued the timeout or not.

actually coordinators are allowed to call timeouts. only a few coaches let their coordinators do so and only in the case of emergency or critical situation. Ryan obviously thought it was important. Also you can hear the whistle blow before the snap and it probably contributed to the Pats not busting off on the snap.

Most teams the only person on the team that is allowed to call a timeout is the coach but if a coordinator calls for one erroneously, they will get it anyway. its not like the head coach can tell a ref 'oh ok, only take a timeout if I say so'. the refs have no choice, its a rule. if someone calls for one, you give it to 'em.
