Looks like another great hit by a Texan DB where our guy still got the worst of it

Hervoyel

STEEL BLUE TEXANS

Hervoyel
11-21-2004, 10:09 PM
The Texans need to come back and get 7 or Favre is going to win this damned game. Either the offense gets it's collective stuff together or we can call it a night because 13 points is not going to get it done and frankly I think if they can't score again then they should lose this game.

Lets see Texans next 3 plays
run with DD
run with DD and pass with DD followed by a punt

MrLizardTX
11-21-2004, 10:10 PM
Now Palmer needs to turn our offense loose, no more three yards and a cloud of punts :ninja:

D-ReK
11-21-2004, 10:11 PM
well if it works.. you dont just quit calling it.. now.. if we call it AGAIN and lose that kind of yardage.. then yah, i may complain a little.. but we ran it until it didnt work anymore.. thats how you win games.

Agreed....

ball at the 36

TexanExile
11-21-2004, 10:12 PM
I'd like to see them give the ball to Gaffney on a forward freaking PASS, please....

MrLizardTX
11-21-2004, 10:13 PM
Carr needs to start spreading the ball around. He's completed passes to only three different receivers.

281
11-21-2004, 10:14 PM
Okay well catch it Dre...

TexanExile
11-21-2004, 10:14 PM
Dre drops an easy one. #1 WRs can't do that.

STEEL BLUE TEXANS
11-21-2004, 10:14 PM
handing the ball to DD is like taking a kneel

Hervoyel
11-21-2004, 10:15 PM
Oh wow, they faked the end around. Now it's all clear to me. That sneaky Chris Palmer was setting the Packers up for that 3 yard DD blast.

I'm speechless.

281
11-21-2004, 10:15 PM
It really is. I think Davis has only had one or two good runs all damn game.

This is exciting! i think we will come away with the W.

I think that the performance of the players (who are playing for these coaches) speaks for itself. This isn't a question of being pessimistic or hateful. This is a matter of recognizing that 13 points isn't going to beat the Packers. I am forced to wonder if the people watching this game have come to that conclusion before the Texans players or coaching staff.

While the kudos keep flowing from ESPN, I think they should note the job that the Pack's O-line is doing on 3rd down tonight. Nobody's getting close to Favre on 3rd down.

Hervoyel

13-13, we're right where we started with one minor exception. Momentum is wearing green and yellow right now. The Texans need another 7 badly.

A run perhaps?

Hervoyel
11-21-2004, 10:34 PM
Now this is getting really annoying. This is complete rubbish. Have the Texans ever, in their history audibled to anything but a run? Then they throw a pass to a guy who's barely past the line of scrimmage. The Texans do deserve to lose this game. No question in my mind about that. They've played a second half that could have easily fit into their games in Denver or Indy.

I don't care if they make it or not. I don't think it matters. Since halftime what have the Texans done on offense that would make anyone think they could win this game in overtime if they won the coin toss or not?

AND he made it so thankfully this garbage is over. I'm so mad at the Houston Texans right now. I can't believe they came out, at home, and played like that. 13 points. Nothing in the second half. NOTHING!

This isn't "ok". This isn't "they're improving". This isn't "yeah but at least we were in this one till the very last play". This is complete bull. This is a team that's obviously not right somewhere and I'm sick of watching it. Failure. It's becoming a trend and a habit. Screw this I'm going to bed.

we lose. pathetic showing in the 4th quarter

I was listening to the Westwood 1 broadcast and all they were talking about was the fact that the Texans played it too tight in the 4th quarter. Not one scream the conservative and Palmer stuff, but there is a point where your coaching staff has too recognize that the thing this team does best get the ball into the hands of the WRs. This was a should have a won.

we are a complete joke. Surely this is the last season for Capers.

Hervoyel
11-21-2004, 11:08 PM
Ok fine, I'm not going to bed. It would be futile anyway. What I always hear is Capers talking about winning the turnover battle (we did tonight) and some such baloney about how when we run the ball "x" number of times we win somesuch percentage of the time. I believe it's 30 times though I am not certain about that.

Tonight I guess we were 3 of Davis' little 3 yard shots away from a win because we only had 27 rushing attempts. Maybe if we'd had three more of them for what? about 9 yards that would have been the difference.

4-6 and a three game losing streak. Denver was bad. Indy was worse but those teams were clearly better than we were. Those teams are positively going to be in the playoffs at the end of the year. This Packers team was right there in the Texans sights. They were down and then our offense flat out just stopped. The defense wore out and I can understand that when your offense gives you nothing but that doesn't explain what's happening with Palmers offense.

Sure we can talk about how Palmer doesn't call audibles and Palmer doesn't fail to execute and those are good points. But Palmer coaches these guys and right now these guys are playing football like a bunch of bums.

the Texans played their best game since Jacksonville, the Packers are a playoff team as well give them some credit. And while your at it give the Texans some credit for playing inspired football. The defense played much better as a whole, both corners Dunta (nobody could have stopped that one touchdown) & Glenn came up big. McCree was solid & filled in nicely when Coleman got injured. The Big 3 tackles did not record a sack but had excellent pressure on Farve until the 4th quarter when they understandably wore down. My only gripe was that Babin & Peek where not sent after Farve enough (Babin could of had Farve once but over ran the play).

the blame for the offense clearly has to fall on David Carrs shoulders. The offensive line for the better part of the game did a nice job of protection, I liked when he rolled out, just wish he would have done it one more time. He is improving but still lacks composure in critical situations. Armstrong needs more touches & the TE position received one pass that was dropped. The running game seemed like it was more affective outside the tackles, never seen Wells or Hollings.

Overall I'd give the Defense a B+
Special teams B+ (missed one field goal)
Offense a C-

I watched that game and as a relatively new Texans fan, I was frustrated. When The Packers cut the lead to 3, the game was over. It seems like the D was kinda shellshocked the rest of the game, and the offense's playcalling was just dumb.

What I can't understand about the Texans is--why do they always go away from Johnson at the end of the game? Because he's covered? The fact is, Johnson is bigger, stronger, and faster than almost all of his defenders. I say throw him the ball and let him make plays. That's what Detroit did earlier this year with Roy Williams before his injury. He got the ball even in double coverages.

As a Panther fan since their beginnings 10 years ago, I well aware of Dom Capers' coaching. He only lasted 3 years in Carolina and was fired wrongly (in my opinion). Mr. McNair should do what he has to do to get Indy's or KC's offensive coordinator, IMO (or just the o-line coach). The Texans have such great capacity to open it up big time, they just don't. As far as Davis, I think he is an above average back--not in the leagues of Tomlinson, Green, Williams, James, or Alexander. I will say that he is having a better year than Portis, though.

Edge is supposedly ready to leave Indy, maybe fellow 'Cane Johnson can help out in talking him into coming here.

Lastly, I think the Texans need some 'hosses on the O-Line to make the holes that the backs in Denver and Kansas City give their backs. Maybe that's where the money should be spent and not on a new back. Then again, if we look at the Atlanta example, they kept the same defensive players but changed philosophies and the D is the main reason why that team is 8-2 now. With a line like Denver's, Davis could easily have 2,500 all-purpose yards a year.

Offense a C- C'mon you can't blame carr for that lose. If so your the only one that feels that way. He has been one of the only bright spots this year. you got to remember that this is the texans 3rd year. there are alot of young players. Its a team that loses a game not 1 player. Right?

I thought it was an entertaining game. I am not happy the Texans lost, but the opposition had Brett Favre at the helm. This is two weeks in a row that we have faced QB's with some real fire power. I can only hope that we are able to pull off a win against the Titans.
