1) Adrian Peterson is turning out to be a stud RB. You always wonder if the success a RB has in college will translate to the NFL. Sometimes it doesn't (see Blair Thomas, Cedric Benson). Sometimes it does, though, and you have to think the Minnesota is excited about the play that they're getting out of Peterson.
2) Speaking of other folks that look to be "for real," I think that you have to mention Jason Campbell in that discussion. Looks like he might have finally settled the 'Skins QB situation for the long term. He may not be an elite QB, but he doesn't appear to be the type who's going to lose games for you with boneheaded decisions.
3) If I bench a player in fantasy football that player automatically responds with a fantastic performance. Every freakin' time. This week, Thomas Jones and Wes Welker were on the pine for me. Jones ran for 100+ yards and Welker has already scored twice. Oh, and I started Warner who immediately goes out with a bad elbow. Someone else on the board said that they were the Charlie Casserly of fantasy football. Well, I guess that makes me Matt Millen.
4) If I'm Jacksonville, I'm calling the David Garrard experiment a success. I'm thinking that they're not missing Gary Coleman at all. I missed him today. Sure did.
5) Dear Ronnie Brown - I'm sorry that you are playing for a really bad Miami team. If you want to come play for not as bad Houston Team, feel free to give me a shout. Love, Rick Smith
6) Good Lord. What happened to the Rams? They went from a dynamic, explosive offense to a big turd. When you're starting Gus Frerotte and Travis Minor, you know you're toast. By the way, Frerotte completed almost 70% of his passes. Of course, 5 of those completions went to the guys in the wrong jerseys.
7) Brian Billick is an offensive genius in Minnesota. He goes to Baltimore and 8 years later they still don't have an offense. Marvin Lewis helps craft a dominating defense in Baltimore. He goes to Cincinatti and nearly 5 years later they still don't have a defense. No real point here other than perhaps the Brian Billick coaching tree is a bit dysfunctional.
8) Testaverde is 20/33 for 206 and a touch. Uhhhhh, didn't they just sign this guy? I guess if you've been in the league since the jurassic period you can handle anything.
9) Is it just me, or does our O-line look like they lack a mean streak? I know that the skill set is there and they have a lot of experience but they just seem to get pushed around a lot. Schaub is making them look better than they really are, methinks, in the passing game. So said, I think they have been exposed as a very poor run blocking unit. I'm hoping that we might see something to shake things up because the Tight 'Uns d-line is pretty darn physical. I'd hate to see us get punched in the mouth two straight weeks.
10) This has been a crappy weekend for football. First, LSU loses and then the Texans get punked out big time by the Jags. All I can say now is "Go Pats, beat those Cowgirls. Go 'hawks. Keep the Taints winless!"
