Looks like the giants may get this years first draft pick, its sad but here we go:

Brandon: Giants RB Jacobs out 3-5 weeks with sprained MCL

NFL.com Wire Reports

The NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss three to five weeks.

Jacobs suffered the injury in Sunday night's 45-35 loss to the Cowboys in Dallas. Before leaving the game, Jacobs had six carries for 26 yards.

Looks like Ward will be starting.

For eli its worse! :(

Eli Manning has separated shoulder, could miss significant playing time

NFL.com Wire Reports

NFL Network's Adam Schefter has confirmed that New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has a separated shoulder.

Schefter reports that Manning could realistically return for the Giants' Sept. 30 game against the Eagles.

The Giants, however, will not confirm the shoulder separation and are saying the quarterback suffered an AC joint contusion. Head coach Tom Coughlin said in his Monday press conference that Manning is day to day.

Manning landed awkwardly on his throwing shoulder late in the Giants' 45-35 loss to the Cowboys. After a 213-yard, four-touchdown game, Manning was replaced by Jared Lorenzen.

The Giants lost four key contributors to injury. Aside from Manning, they also lost star defensive end Osi Umenyiora, starting running back Brandon Jacobs and special teams standout Kevin Dockery. Nose tackle Barry Cofield also left the game in the third quarter, but returned.

Well this is horrible for the giants but great for their division.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports Giants DE Osi Umenyiora will miss two months with a knee injury.
The Giants have only called the injury "a knee," without labeling it a sprain or ligament tear, but Umenyiora is believed to have torn his MCL. The Giants went 2-4 with Osi out of the lineup in 2006. Michael Strahan will likely now start full time at left defensive end, with Justin Tuck kicking to the right side. Sep. 10 - 3:35 pm et

oh man, this is devastating for the Giants. Hope they recover back to full strength. Lorenzen just isn't going to get it done.

NYG have a lot of holes and needs. They should be in the bidding for McFadden with this news. That would be a scary sight to have McFadden and Jacobs on the field together.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Eli Manning has a bruised right shoulder and it is uncertain whether the New York Giants quarterback will play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday...

Manning and Coughlin denied an ESPN report that the quarterback had a separated shoulder and would be out four weeks.

"I don't know where that report came from and I don't know where the information supposedly came from," Coughlin said, adding that if Manning can't play this week "it will be another week."

Jared Lorenzen, who finished up in the Giants' final series, will start if Manning can't go Sunday.

Eli is cleared to play!:

Manning
Dr. James Andrews confirmed the Giants' initial diagnosis of Eli Manning's shoulder injury as a sprained A-C joint.
Andrews said that as long as Manning can tolerate the pain, he can play without fear of further injuring his shoulder. It's all up to Eli now. Watch to see if he practices this week. The Giants are confident that even if he misses Week 2, he will be ready for Week 3. Sep. 11 - 9:06 pm et

Ward is the man as of now:
Ward has a short file for a 27-year-old. He's only earned 37 touches as a pro before this season, including zero in an injury-marred 2006 season. Here's what we know

1. He's the heavy favorite to start for the Giants for the next 3-5 weeks while Brandon Jacobs overcomes a sprained MCL.

2. The Giants have held on to Ward since 2004 despite an assortment of injuries and competitors for a reserve running back job. Former GM Ernie Accorsi loved him. They would have to in order to be so patient.

3. Ward looked exceedingly ready for a bigger role when he piled up 116 total yards on 17 touches against the Cowboys. He's no Brandon Jacobs, but Ward is also a power back at 228 pounds. His four receptions show some versatility. He's what Reuben Droughns was supposed to be.

4. Ward would have a far better chance for success if Eli Manning were healthy. The schedule over the next three weeks (Green Bay, Washington, Philadelphia) is fairly difficult and the Giants may struggle to move the ball.

Add it all up, and Ward is our favorite pickup of the week. He should be the primary back for at least three games, and that's worth using your first waiver pick.

Eli Manning takes snaps, hands off at Giants practice

"Eli Manning took some snaps, made a few handoffs and tossed lightly to test his bruised right shoulder on Wednesday."
"Manning did not practice and coach Tom Coughlin gave no indication whether he would play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers."
""If I were a betting man I would say he would play," Lorenzen said of Manning, who returned and threw a touchdown pass after he was hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 45-35 loss to Dallas. "He's a tough guy. He showed a lot of grit out there last week.""

The Giants should be ok since it doesn't appear that Eli's injury is as bad as originally thought. They also have a good back up RB.

There is a good chance that the Cowboys will get the first draft pick.

The Giants have had serious injury problems for a few seasons now. Last year was brutal. They were down to 3rd stringers in many key positions on both sides of the ball. It looks like that trend is going to continue this season. I don't know if it is just bum luck or an issue with conditioning. Whatever the case that organization needs to make some serious changes, starting with Coughlin.

Cowher? Schottenheimer?

Saban?

:jk:

I think Cowher would more like a lower profile place.... my thought is he's waiting for the Carolina Job to open. Seeing as how he lives there and wants to see his family more.

Schott i like as a person a lot...Just i haven't ever seen a Marty team do something in the playoffs. That concerns me. Marty ball is fine for the regular season but it just doesn't seem to translate in the postseason.

If the offense does well this year a guy like Sherman might be in the mix. I am sure Rex Ryan will get mentioned again along with Ron Rivera. Caldwell from the Colts might be mentioned as well. Or maybe a darkhorse will pop up over the year. I never thought Coughlin was the right guy from day one. I think management made a big mistake this year too in keeping a guy that IMO lost the locker room over the past two years.
