B/c Denny is so reserved it was funny to see him blow up, but Mora's infamous high pitched "playoffs?" & then the double take & look just gets me every time.

That guy is pure comedy: "We just got our #$@ totally kicked in the 2nd half!" & then the emphatic "WE SUCK!" to end it all.

honorable mention: George brett & the pine tar incident. If there was every a case of losing your &*^#, that was it.

Carlos Zambrano indulges in one of the top meltdowns ever

In the true spirit of his bemused manager, Chicago's Carlos Zambrano(notes) had one of the finest meltdowns in major league history during Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Pirates.

Maybe it wasn't quite George Brett quality, but it was very special and up there with the rest of the all-time greats — Hal McRae's telephone throw, Lloyd McClendon's stolen base toss and anything from Lou Piniella's vast Hall of Fame arguing resume.

Here's VIDEO (http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=4756801), and here's a play-by-play of what happened, with updates throughout:

• With the Cubs leading the Pirates 2-1 in the seventh, Zambrano threw a wild pitch that got past catcher Geovany Soto(notes) and caused Pittsburgh's Nyjer Morgan(notes) to break for home. Zambrano covered the plate, but Morgan snuck his left hand in to tie the score and umpire Mark Carlson called him safe. It was a great call, actually, but Zambrano disagreed and went berserk.

Reporters are speculating that Zambrano could be suspended as many as 10 games for his wild 'n' crazy actions.

After some screaming and demonstrative hand gestures from Zambrano, Carlson turned his body into Zambrano, who then used his shoulder to give a little shove back and almost guarantee a suspension from the league office. With Piniella running from the dugout as fast as he could, Carlson threw Z out of the game.

And that's when the real fun started.

I'm a big fan of the Oklahoma State football coach's meltdown, as well as the coach who screamed "It's division one football!! It's the big twelve!! It ain't intramurals!! I forget his name... Hawkins?

I think Denny Gs outburst is my personal favorite. He was immortalized in NFL
annals for his performance, which appeared to be totally spontaneous. Priceless !

yeah for all the pub his "practice?!?" rant gets, the "WE SUCK!!" rant is my favorite..probably b/c we don't see it as often. Imagine being a player on that team & hearing your own coach saying that about you.........:embarrass.

I never thought Green's was hilarious or outrageous.

Mora is classic.

Jim/Chris Everrette thing is funny and all...that Rome just sits there..."Betcha I do...............Chris" .....but honestly, I have no idea what is going on there so the real point has flown over my head forever...

My favorite though is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGZUKHtW7vg

I love Mora. He always willing to speak his mind. I think he's been hilarious on NFLN. I really hope he keeps coming back too.
