I only caught the end of the game. Can anyone tell me how Diles looked?

For a 7th round rookie, very well imo. I think the guy sticks and backs up in the middle, and mostly plays ST unless (knock on wood) you know who gets hurt.

It seems like Kubiak loves this guy. Hopefuly he can make a difference. Finding gems in later rounds is alwasy awesome

Kubiak said in his presser he had no idea how Ziles lasted until the 7th

I was extremely pleased with him. Only Jones had a better showing of our draft picks. He's aggressive, but not recklessly so, and seems to have no fear on ST.

I agree -

Keep him healthy and give him the right tools to grow his skills and he will make a name for himself in my opinion

Kiper was calling this a great pick for us because Kiper had him as a 5th rounder.

Kubiak and Smith are a huge improvement on C & C (I can't bring myself to say their names anymore)

I saw the game on TV, and I don't remember any particular play that stood out with Diles, but I have heard nothing but good things about him during TC. It looks like he will make the team and backup Ryans or Greenwood and play on ST. As of now, I think they will keep 6 LB's (Greenwood, Ryans, Anderson, Barber, Diles, and Clark, with Bray on the PS). JMHO! :texflag:

like the music factory they are named after they had a few lucky hits in the mid 90's and then were done.

From this point forward, Capers and Casserley will be known as the C&C Music factory. When you think of them, let a funeral dirge float into your mind, since thats what they did to our chances in the early seasons.

HOUSTON (AP) - Zac Diles wasn't expected to play a very big role in coach Gary Kubiak's plan for the Houston Texans this season. In fact, he wasn't supposed to play much of a role at all.

But the seventh-round pick has been so impressive in camp that Kubiak is beginning to change his mind.

‘‘He's pushing hard to get on the field awful quick, so we'll see,'' Kubiak said. ‘‘That's a big step to take, but if the kid keeps doing what he's doing, we're going to have to find a way to get him out there.''

The linebacker out of Kansas State has been getting some work in practice with the second team defense and his work ethic has all but assured him a spot on special teams coverage.

‘‘I'm working hard so I'm glad they are noticing it,'' he said. ‘‘I'm excited.''

Diles had 92 tackles including 3 1/2 sacks last season for the Wildcats. He had 50 tackles and two sacks as a junior.

The Texans aren't sure why Diles dropped to the seventh round, but general manager Rick Smith said at just 6-foot, many may have considered him undersized for a linebacker.

‘‘If you look at him physically, he's not a 6-foot-2, 245-pound gifted athlete that runs a 4.5 (40-yard dash),'' Smith said. ‘‘That's what you look for, so he's a little small that way, height wise, but he's an excellent football player. He's got good instincts, and he's just a good fit for us. He doesn't have the prototypical size and speed but he's got instincts, and he's got good enough athleticism and speed
