Not bad replacements for Jameel and Chris Taylor.

Reads they are looking for a speed guy. When Griffin came elligable, I was hoping the texans would use a day two pick on him.

Isn't PatricK Pass a FB.

Does that mean that with Cook on PUP and Abate new to the role they are getting a backup for Leach because they don't expect Abate to cut it??

Griffin would be an interesting acquisition, do we have any real speed backs??

Two backs sign

The Texans signed two running backs Sunday veteran Patrick Pass (New England) and rookie Darius Walker (Notre Dame).

Pass earned three Super Bowl rings as a backup with the Patriots. Walker signed with the Texans as a free agent but was waived before camp.

The Texans signed Pass over Quentin Griffin.

"Pass can play more than one position, including fullback," coach Gary Kubiak said.Link (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/5010055.html)

If it's the same Patrick Pass, FB or whatever, he ran a very fast forty when he came out. I think and stand to be corrected that the Bills took the guy day two about six years ago. I thought QG would of complimented DD/DW as a third down guy and take some of the wear and tear off of him. I think he could still be that guy here. But, the reason he got into the dog house IIRC was fumbling and couldn't stay healthy. Where have I heard that befor ? He's due some good luck that's for sure. So Mathis tweaked the hammie again to day ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Pass

"Patrick Pass (born December 31, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American football fullback who is currently a free agent and most recently played with the New England Patriots of the National Football League, but is considered more of a pass-catching fullback than a conventional blocking fullback. "

I think I have him confused with someone else the bill took during that time frame.

I saw a highlight compilation of Griffin on YouTube...

he's really quick but he's not blazing fast. He got caught from behind more than someone with his supposed speed should. And these highlights were from college. If they caught him, pro DBs surely will.

Plus he looks too small to be an effective blocker in the backfield.

For our offense, Pass is probably the wiser selection.

The radio said this morning that Pass was signed on, along with the ND kid, Walker we dropped before...I didn't hear Griffin....I just saw someone posted this above...sorry.

Pass is a special teams/3rd down beast if nothing else.

I remember watching Griffin play a game for the Broncos a few years back. It was the only time I saw him and he ran for 100+ yards and looked pretty good. The thing I remember most though is that he fumbled the ball near the end of the game within field goal range. It cost them the game...

Seems like it was a low scoring game and it (I think) was against the Jags.
Glad to see that Walker is getting another chance.

Griffin may well be a good pick up as well having played in the Broncos system before. I saw a bit of him this season in NFL Europe and he looked pretty good in the action he saw. A good pick up I reckon for some Camp Fodder to give the others a rest.

Pass would be a good short yardage RB and a recieving FB out of the backfield.

Im glad to see Walker back although Griffen would have been a nice addition with his versitality to catch and run and could be a good 3rd down back.
