The minicamp schedule has been released and we are only one of two teams (Denver being the other) that does not have their's scheduled this month... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/10161134

Does anyone know why exactly???

My theory is that the Texans brass plans on changing up the roster quite a bit more and doesn't want any of their players missing out. I would expect to see several more FA's that were cut by their previous team and possibly several cuts from our roster. I can't remember a more interesting offseason.

I think a big reason for it being in June is to make it closer to training camp so the rookies and new FA's will still have everything fresh in their mind when training camp starts.

The rookies will be in on May 16 (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=3338), according to Kubiak.

(on watching the University of Texas and Kasey Studdard play during the season)
“Well they have so many players so in going through the draft process, you’re watching (Justin) Blaylock, you’re watching Kasey, and you’re watching their defensive players. You watch so much Big 12 football throughout the draft you can’t help but watch their players a great day, and he definitely stands out. The way he plays the game, he’s very tough, he had an excellent workout in Indianapolis. Just knowing the kid and what he’s made of and what he stands for makes you feel very good about what you’re going to get come May 16 (first day of OTA’s) when he walks in here.”

Thank you...I started a thread asking this question of when the rookie mini-camp was. No one knew, I suppose...

Yeah, Kubes said in his post draft wrap up that it would be May 16th.

I think OTA's start on May 16th, but the actual mini-camp is in June sometime. I beleive it is mostly semantics as to the difference, other than that I think the OTA's are optional, and the mini-camp is mandatory.

Is there a schedule for OTAs ? I dunno, but I'm thinking we had atleast one session already, but then there was no further info. Are these OTA workouts unscheduled and players participate in informal workouts in a group or on a individual basis ? I do believe its done with no supervison, i.e., no Coachs are present ?

So do we start the same time as Denver...is this another thing Kubes is taking from Denver or what?

I wanted to see our rookies in action. I'll just wait a bit longer.
