I thought I would start this thread in advance for the players that are signed after the draft.

Here is hoping Battle and Rhema McKnight are players the Texans sign.

Was going to add Nedu Ndukwe but damn it Cinci took him.

I am hoping the Texans sign Jared Zabransky, QB - Boise State.

I wonder if this administration will keep with policy of not announcing those until the ink is totally dry on the contract. In the past, they have been very slow, like a week about UDFA acquisitions.

My list would be (out of the small schoolers):
RB D.D. Terry of Sam Houston State
QB Justin Rascati out of James Madison
QB Cullen Finnerty of Grand Valley State
DT Walter Thomas

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Texans try to sign Jared Zabransky to the training camp roster and see if they like him enough to keep him as a #3 QB.

We didn't draft a RB so I expect we'll sign one if we can, Darius Walker, Courtney Lewis, and even Selvin Young and Ramonce Taylor could be options there.

I expect we'll bring in another WR or two, Rhema McKnight would be a nice signing, maybe Brandon Myles.

I don't know that they'd sign any OLinemen, but adding more depth for training camp couldn't hurt, and with a couple guys like Dan Mozes, Doug Datish, Tim Duckworth, Tala Esera, and Julius Wilson available I wouldn't be surprised to see us grab one or more of them.

Jay Moore from Nebraska went undrafted and would be a pretty solid signing, not sure how much I like any other DEs available but we could definitely use more competition there for training camp. There are also a few DTs available that would be nice like Jeremy Clark and Quintin Echols.

I expect we'll add a LB or two before camp, I like Rory Johnson, Earl Everett, or Tony Taylor, I'm a little surprised none of them got drafted. Juwan Simpson is also available, and some people considered him a possible late 1st day pick.

We could see more depth at DB as well. Kenny Scott and Reggie Lewis are both solid CBs and Brandon Mitchell, Craig Dahl, and Zach Catanese are pretty solid S prospects.

Jackie Battle RB, Houston--His pro day was off the charts for a random guy and I'm surprised someone didn't spend a late pick on him.

I just thought of something. If the Texans bring in DT Walter Thomas, and he turns out to be as good as some people think he can be, we will have one hell of a defensive front line. At 6'-4" and 374 lbs, 4.9 sec forty, and being able to do a handstand, front flip, and back flip, Thomas could be the ultimate sleeper for us.

Yes and no. I believe he was accused of conspiring to a robbery, but nothing official happened. I am not sure though. Does'nt someone on the board know this guy? For some reason, I thought someone did.

http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ/MGArticle/WSJ_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1149189903619

Abbate is the Deacons' strongest player. Many would say he's also their most formidable, if not the most fearsome.

Abbate led the team in tackles in each of his first two seasons while playing through a spate of injuries - separated shoulder, broken ribs, a sprained medial-collateral ligament, a pulled hamstring and a gash on the bridge of his nose that was re-opened every time he played last season.

The rest of Abbate's reputation has been built in the weight room, where he has lifted 460 pounds in the bench press, 462 in the front squat, 392 in the power clean, 362 in the squat clean and 345 in the clean and jerk - all team bests.

Yeah..no doubt. That was truly a touching story and you can't help but pull for the guy. Hopefully he can make the squad later this spring/summer and have a chance to contribute to this team. I don't follow college ball so I have no idea who these guys are, much less anyone who was drafted this weeked (and I mean I don't know who anyone is from any team).

For the OP, word is that New Orleans has signed WR Rhema McKnight from Notre Dame. I'm actually kinda surprised he chose to come here since I think it will be tough for him to make the roster. He'll have to beat out some decent backups and special teamers to have a chance.

Seems like over the years the Texans got burned by the fake a lot. Pump fakes killed us. Drove me nuts.

WoW!

Compares To: Terdell Sands, Oakland -- Actually, Thomas is a mixture of Ted Washington, for size and ability to occupy multiple blocker; Sands, for his explosion and long reach; and Marcus Stroud, for his ability to shoot the gaps and wreak havoc in the backfield … Don't be surprised if Jacksonville takes this player to develop behind Stroud and John Henderson, who could be perfect mentors to unearth his hidden talent … This might be the best "unknown" player in the 2007 draft.

RB Selvin Young, Texas (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/young_selvin)
DT Walter Thomas, last played for NW Mississippi Community College (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/thomas_walter)
CB Anthony Airline, Baylor (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/arline_anthony)
CB Travarous Bain, Hampton (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/bain_travarous)
SS Craig Dahl, North Dakota State (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/dahl_craig) (if he bulks up he could play OLB)...he is a true football player

that's all I can think of for right now.

from my original list, only these two remain unsigned from what I can tell:

DT Walter Thomas, last played for NW Mississippi Community College (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/thomas_walter)

It was just interesting and never gave it much thought but I thought I heard on NFL Network tonight they briefly had mentioned two unsigned draft players that had become starters and/or stars, Johnny Unitas and Tony Romo. It would be curious to know after the NFL draft is over and players are passed how many successful udFA's in NFL history achieved such status.

Wasn't Jake Delhomme undrafted as well?

Mitchell has nice size at 6'3" and good speed. Saw that he can play multiple positions. Was a 5th year senior on Ohio State.

Mitchell is one of those guys who has either maxed out or has more room to his ceiling. At worst he might be a special teamer at best he's going to be an average FS.

Ornea Jones has a chance to be the gunner we all hoped that Kendrik Starling was going to be.

I ain't got nothing on the TE.

Lucas is a OC, who looks like he fell during the draft. Tavo Tupola player OT in college, but will probably be a G in the NFL (if he makes it), Terry Richardson is a possesion type receiver; who along with Jones could challenge for a spot on special teams. DE Victor DeGrate played OLB for 2 years ot OSU, before moving to DE. He's a speed rusher, who 6'3" 253 might be moved to Sam or jsut used as a speed rusher (4.77 40 at the combine).

I foresee a lot of turnover on the practice squad this year.

Finding info on the rest is proving to be a challenge.

Wilbur had 4.5 speed coming out of high school and played FS and WR. Sometimes it's good to have a punter with mobility in case you have a bad snap or want to fake a punt.

Selvin Young signed with the Broncos

DT Walter Thomas signed with the Saints, so all of the players from my wish list are gone.

Play nice guys.

I haven't even had a chance to read the thread yet.

OK. I've caught up with my deleting. I'm going to unlock the thread now. Let's keep the name calling to a minimum - actually to zero.

Now I'm done with my reading! I'm moving the post because of its transformation to a league wide discussion.

Hang on tight. It's really not that bad.

Tavo Tupola sounds Samoan so his 18 bench presses is a little disappointing.

Ah well, it's a dream that will never be realized.
