An accounting mistake that resulted in running back Brian Westbrook being paid his $3 million roster bonus twice could have salary cap ramifications for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Under the NFL's collective bargaining agreement with the players union, the league could penalize the Eagles for the double payment. The Inquirer reported that according to a team source, while the league has yet to penzalize the team, the Eagles remain concerned another team might challenge the NFL if it does not.

The Eagles have been forced to file a grievance against Westbrook becauase he has yet to repay the money. But according to a team source, Westbrook and his agent Fletcher Smith have acknowledged the error and intend to repay the money, the Inquirer reported.

Westbrook signed a five-year contract extension worth $24.9 million during the 2005 season.

Eagles should just let Westbrook keep the extra 3 M. for all he does for them.
