can someone tell me why we resigned van pelt? If it comes down to both schaub and rosenfels being hurt we can always activate porter from the practice squad. He looked like a servicable back up in preseason last year. Of course i dont know if van pelt is any good at all, we could be getting rid of porter.

It's not uncommon to go into training camp with excess qb's on the team to throw to all the receivers-a player familiar with the system is a plus. Eventually, like every other position, excess players are weeded out.

Career backup at WR that played for Gary in Denver. Lets hope he comes through.

He's a training camp arm. Someone to throw the ball to the receivers and give the other QB's a break. Plus he knows the system and might be able to help other guys with study. And if we get into a crunch with a bunch of injuries during the season, he'll be able to be brought in and won't be totally rusty and will have some sort of knowledge of the system.

Sage isn't going anywhere. Van Pelt is our 3rd string qb, nothing more.

I don't think we are until we see what Schaub or what someone else can do in a live game.

IMO....BVP is a camp arm and will probably not make the season, unless Porter stinks it up in NFLE, if that happens then he might be able to get the #3 spot.

That's assuming the Texans have a #3 spot. If they do, it may go to whoever has practice squad eligibility left.

I have no idea what most of you are talking about and I am not too sure that you do either. Van Pelt is the best QB that the Texans have. He is the next generation of NFL QBs. He is extremely mobile and has a great arm. I think if he is given the opportunity he will be the starter at some point this season. Mark my word, once you guys see him in action he will be your choice for #1 QB as well.

Honestly I don't think we will.

I honestly don't expect him to ever touch the field.

But if you're right, I'll gladly admit I was wrong.

Good news. I like Taylor. I think he's gonna be a stud in this league w/a few more games under his belt. The dude is FAST and POWERFUL with great burst from what i remember last year.

Bradlee has tons of leadership potential and knows the system. I enjoyed watching him play in Denver (pre-season mostly). He'll shake things up and could step in at a moments notice. By the way, not a lot of folks probably realize that the Texans have more active players (Anderson, Dreesen, Van Pelt, Wynn) on their roster from Colorado State University than any other university. Almost hate to point it out because it will undoubtedly spark more whining about how many players we have with Colorado/Denver/Green Bay ties.
