Arizona at San Francisco is the opening weekend Monday Night Game? What the heck??

Well, this is certainly more difficult than last year opening the game at Cleveland. No surprise here though, we saw this coming for a while. The Thursday night opener is now always a home game for the defending champs, and the only games that made sense were either us or New England. From what I've seen, they didn't want to waste the obviously large ratings draw for the Pats game that early in the season and will probably save that game for November or December.

Also, I bet our "less than stellar" history played a part in wanting to strike while the iron's hot as it pertains to national interest in our team. As they would look at it, "If it's the first game of the year, we haven't had a chance to suck yet." :)

Yeah, not so great. But they're billing the Cincy-Baltimore game as the real draw. IIRC, last year the second game was not so great either as it was Oakland and San Diego (although SD turned out to be really good, before the season there wasn't _that_ much talk about them).

what's wrong with arizona/san fran? matt leinart is going to be a big draw, and the niners are looking to make a playoff run. good for both teams.

god, packers and lions again??

chicago vs. san diego is a helluva opening game, though.

FYI - The NFL Network will have a schedule unvieling on April 5th. Not sure what time though.

I don't get why the Cowboys and Lions have to play every Thanksgiving. Some traditions shouldn't stick around. Especially with the Lions. At least the Cowboys have been winning lately.

There are not that many West Coast teams to pick from for a late start in the rest of the country. Oakland, SF, SD, Seattle, Arizona just off the top of my head.

I guess since Favre won't retire we get to see him every Thanksgiving until he does.
