They've backed themselves into a corner. They have to take one early in the draft now (first day). I hope they can pick up a guy who can start, because Kevin Walter is not a #2 receiver. He was barely a #3 receiver last year (not impressed with that signing so far). I'm sure they have something planned, though. Surely they wouldn't let Moulds go without having plans to replace him.

And, to reiterate, I hope their plan isn't to run Kevin Walter out as the other starting receiver.

I think it'd be cool if Mathis' hands turned into glue.

You could have Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, and Cris Carter as your WRs; wont do you any good if there isn't anyone to throw them the ball.

I thought AJ caught 103 passes last year. Somebody threw him that ball. :bubble:

Kubiak likes Walter as a #2 receiver. We'll see if he sticks to that sentiment when the season starts.

Move Daniels to WR where he should have been in the first place.

a big factor in letting go of moulds was because he has lost a step, and putting in a TE at WR wouldn't help too much. daniels has good speed for a TE, but if you think that translates into playing WR, then you got issues.

One of the top receivers is going to drop in to the second round. I would not be opposed to taking Sidney Rice with our second pick if he drops, but not Jarret.

They have a plan, and it's too bad we have no idea what it is.

Maybe it's Carr trade and get a RB, then WR on day 1 and then OL or DL on day 2.

After all, Carr could get a 3rd or 4th...and they seem to want a decent WR. But, he just has to beable to catch and draw double teams off AJ. So, a 3 rd WR pick as a #2 isn't too far fetched.

Jerivicious(sp) wasn't real fast, but he did the job. So, maybe thats the idea. A reciver that will catch the ball and help save AJ from being doubled. After all we know TE is a bigger part of the O than last year showed.

You have 1 great WR(AJ) then a dependable(not a 4.4 guy) at #2 and use Walter as #3-4. Then use the TE and get a good back.

mike walker in the 4th round

Central Florida

6'2 210 lbs

4.35 40yd

Pros- good production in college, sure hands, runs good routes, has a big frame

Cons- doesnt play up to timed speed, isnt very elusive after the catch, had an ACL injury 2 years ago, level of competition wasnt great.

his YPC went down significantly after his injury, which may mean he hasnt fully recovered or that he's lost some of his agility. however, for a 4th rounder, he would be a nice pickup. good character and makeup and goes over the middle.

he's more of a number 2 receiver at this point, but he has very good size, speed, and hands, which means he has some pretty good upside.

Their you go, a legit #2 WR in the 4th rd. Leaving us with 3 picks for RB, QB and OL/DL in the 1st 3.

Don't forget Kubes learned from Shanny...and he has a way of making not so big time guys legit starters.

I think I'll put Kubiak's opion above that of texanfan! I think Walter can step it up and become a solid #2 and appariantly so does Kubiak. Let's not forget that maybe he could have made more of an impression if he had a decent QB to throw him the ball! If yall remember he did make quite a few clutch catches for 1st downs.

well with donte stallworth not getting much attention he might be had for cheap...in detriot mike williams might be cut soon...and then you have the draft...our GM rick smith often talks about ted ginn jr. during a lot of interviews so read into that if you want...but you got guys like courtney taylor, joel filani, dallas baker, steven smith, etc who could be available in round 4

My guess would be that the Texans will sign some boring, flawed veteran who won't preclude them from drafting a WR, but may keep them from "needing" to draft one early. I will let some of you play the name game.

Training camp could be interesting. Walter was signed last year to be our #2 guy then Molds came along and Walter faded into the back ground. I fully expect him to come into training camp and battle Mathis for the second spot. As far as our #4 goes didn't we draft someone named Anderson in the 7th that everyone was so high on? He spent the year on the practice squad so I see him coming into training camp to get the #4 spot.

I don't think we are all that bad at receiver.

I remember everyone being excited when we signed Walter but then we got a little side tracked. If Kubes didn't feel he could play then we probably would have went after someone early on.

When he played for Eastern Michigan he recorded 93 receptions, 1390 yard and 9 TD over 12 game period. He didn't do much with Cinci but looked who was playing ahead of him.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Jacoby Jones from Lane College. He could be alot like Marques Colston in NO. He is also a pretty good return man. I know he played small college football, but he is worth a look late in the draft.

And where do you get this???

Remember Walter was signed last year to be the #2 until Moulds came into the mix. And I cannot blame the Texans to take that opportunnity to bring Moulds in much more experience.

But, how can you say he is not a #2 and barely a #3 WR? because he did not get the ball much? That is a VERY VERY WEAK analysis. and I SO HOPE it is their plan to run out there with Kevin starting across from AJ...

Walter as a legit bigtime #2 WR is a joke. He is a decent slot/3rd down receiver who can move the chains, but he isn't going to scare anyone nor draw coverage away from AJ. If Walter is our #2 this yr, expect lowered production from the passing game if that is even possible. I just think Kubes said it as a CYA kind of thing unless he has been smoking something.

Donte Stallworth is the name that comes most to my mind. If healthy, he is a very solid #2. The problem is can he stay healthy? And didn't he flirt with substance abuse? Bryant is the 2nd name that comes to mind. Another legit #2 who is a total head case. Even if either were to be signed, we need some kind of ins, as both have major question marks, and Walter isn't it.

Now if the can come to a aggrement that he wont get his mney if he gets in trouble then I dont mind him but I look for the texans to look in the draft for a lagit #2 reciever. this class is pretty deep as far as recievers go.IMO. Actually the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade like Carr for Moss. You might disagree, but everything looks more and more like they are trying to make Carr want to leave. Carr may have his own agenda and I can't blame him. That would make Oakland unattractive to Carr I would presume, but I think you are looking at a Carr for a top WR somewhere type of trade.

As far as Stallworth goes it is reported that he is in the NFL's substance abuse program.

I'd like to see us move David Anderson up on the depth chart to 3rd. He caught every ball thrown in his direction last year.
Even nfldraftscout.com said he ad the best hands in last years draft. A solid posession reciever. Just because a guy is picked in the 7th doesn't mean he can't be a contributer. Just ask the Saint's about Colston

Im sure we will draft a WR somewhere in the draft, however, i think Kubes wants to involve David Anderson a bit more, seeing how he changed his number to 89 for 14, in my opinion shows he's here to stay, i know i know its dumb to go by the jersey number.

i was really impressed by DA last year, with that one and only reception he had for i think 17 or 27 yds. He's also a good special teamer like Mathis. im sure hes goin to be a big part of the offense next year. THAT IS IF WE SPREAD THE BALL AROUND!

Lacks speed??? From what i have heard from many fans that are at the games is that Walter had separation from DBs and Ss but Carr was so focused on "1 option" and then run or throw it away. Kevin runs 4.4 speed how is that lacking speed??? and he is 6'3-6'4 big strong and disciplined...

I cannot wait until he goes into camp this year and competes for the #2 spot and starts opposite side of AJ and together they make each other better...
