What is the Texans' community thoughts on Drew Stanton coming here in the 3rd round or later. He does have some physical skill, but could never get those MSU teams over the hump in the Big 10? Just want your opinions

He won't last past the early 2nd round... So if the Texans want him, they'll have to take him in the 2nd if he's still available...

I'd rather have him or Edwards or Beck than Tater tot, troy Smith. Looks like they're wooing Kolb though. I could live with a forth round QB prospect to groom. Spending a day one pick on a clip board carrier has no appeal to me at all.

He was in a worse position than Carr. He's mobile and his mechanics can be custom tuned by Kubiak. He isn't nearly ready to play yet, he'll need to sit at least a year and maybe get limited snaps late in games that have already been decided.

whoever the young qb might be...stanton or kolb...i just hope they'd be ready in two years when Carr's contract is up. Step on in and play when our line is finally 'fixed'.

Physically speaking, Drew Stanton has everything you could ask for. Mobility, above average arm strength, good accuracy. I follow Michigan State and he was the only reason they won sometimes. He has all the heart in the world and he would flourish under Kubiak.

you wanta touch the hot potato yuh :stirpot:

first, why go to Michigan when you have what you need in your own backyard?

second, while Stanton shows the ability to make reads & go through his progressions, has David Carr ever had that luxury?

third rd.? will not be available.

fourth, does he show the leadership to elevate his team to overachieve?

if the Texans are forced to draft a QB this year its Kevin Kolb. as I suggested in a trade down from the 1st rd. (along w/Carr) the Texans aquire an additional 2nd & 3rd pick.

Oakland or Minnesota. remember David Carr is a capable franchise QB, just not with the team that drafted him 1st overall in the 2002. with all the punishment taken hes proven durable & a model citezen (ok scratch the raiders) hello Minnesota :doot:

I am not impressed with Stanton. Sure he has the physical tools, but he did not lead his team anywhere under a supposed offensive genius in John Smith. Not to mention the competition level in the Big 10 has been over rated the past two years.

I don't think he goes until the 3rd.

Watching him on some of the drills on ESPN, he seemed to have a pretty good arm. John Beck and Trent Edwards are other potential sleepers.
