on another board and Miami is looking to trade with me for David Carr....what player interests you guys the most on this list along with pick #71 for David Carr

"Players I'd be willing to give with a 3rd rounder for David Carr (pick one):

RB Ricky Williams
TE Randy McMichael
WR Marty Booker
CB Will Allen
DE Kevin Carter
DT Keith Traylor
QB Joey Harrington
RB Sammy Morris
DT Jeff Zgonina

Just let me know which one you want plus the #71 pick for Carr."

The draft is starting after the combine and there is no trading once drafting begins...

randy mcmichael or kevin carter or will allen are the only ones that interest me...in that order

I would ask for Rickey William, a 3rd and a 5th.

Dunta_23

Its only a 4 round mock....so the 5th would be useless.

Will Allen meets our biggest need.

Who are you planning to start if you trade Carr??

Are you assuming that we pick up Plummer or are you starting the Miami reject Rosenfels??

Pettie needs to go back to nickle or FS...Will Allen. If there isn't a day two pick invloved...Texan's aren't going to trade, take a cap hit for nothing...gotta be a pick involved.

Does it matter?

I really don't think it would be hard to find a career backup somewhere who can get us more than about 140 net passing yards per game, an average of 1/2 of a TD per game, and almost 1 interception per game. That's the production that we got from Carr over the last half of the season. The easy part of the season.

I think we could definitely get more than that with Sage. I think we could probably get that with Van Pelt, Quinton Porter, or even Owen Daniels, fer cryin out loud.

Hell, don't cry about it. Prove him wrong. He's giving you fact.

It was the weaker half of our schedule.
The running game picked up
The Defense picked up
The passing game disappeared

What has David done in the last 8 games to make you think he should be the starting QB for the Houston Texans in '07??

What has he done through out the whole year??

Or should we just take your word, that he is our best option at QB, because I'm not seeing anyting to make me believe he is.

Do we need a new starting Left Tackle?? sure we do. Even though Ephraim Salaam shut out Dwight Freeney twice, Jason Taylor, & Demarcus Ware, he had problems going against yabooty(the guy from tennessee).

A new running back?? Sure do... the guy we had could barely rush for 3.6-3.8 ypc behind a poor offensive line when he was suffering from turf toe, and closer to 5 ypc when he was healed up behind an equally poor playing offensive line.

Need help on Defense?? Yes we do....... Faggins, Sanders, Dunta....... none of them seem special to me. CC Brown.... a personal favorite, but Glenn's a better tackler.....

Let's try to fix as many areas as we can, while we can, and not all but one, to see how it would look with better talent around it.

You don't need to see Ephraim Salaam on a better team to know we need to address that position.

You don't need to see Ron Dayne on a better team before you can identify a need for an upgrade.

You don't need to see Shantee Orr or Lewis Sanders or CC Brown on a better team before recognize the need to explore other options.

We need to explore alternative options at QB.

Peterson won't be there at 8, Rikki Williams is better than any running back you'll find in the 3rd or 4th round.

Now you can use your draft picks on Levi Brown in the first, Drew Stanton in the second, & the best Center you can find in the third. a 4th round DT/DE, a 5th on a LB, a 6th on a LB, and a 7th on corner.

No what he's doing is interjecting tallent into a team that doesn't have tallent on the roster to support it's QB. It'd be one thing....if we did have legitmate starters on the roster on the o-line, if the Texans had by bassed skill guys gone out in the draft and taken the lines first set the young QB up for sucsess, but they didn't do that. They set him up to fail. And you guys after that fact...trying to support your DC hate/VY love by saying see there the stats prove it...David Carr suxs...all that makes you is stupid, not a stinking genious.

Is there any reason for this post? Back away from whatever drug paraphernalia you're using.

You're going to jump on me for voicing my opinion when someone else brought up DC? Why don't you jump on KiwiTexanFan for bringing up the QB situation? Or is it only OK to bring up DC in a Draft discussion if I don't bring up an opinion that is apparently different from yours? Is it only OK to bring up stats when they support your opinion?

Please. Tell me your rules for posting on this MB. I could use the chuckle.

hmm... If there was a QB out there, that could perform behind our offensive line, would you want to get that guy in here?? If there was such a guy?? Don't tell me there isn't, because that isn't what I'm asking right now. IF there was a guy that could perform behind our line, would you want that guy playing for us, or would you rather we stick David back there again??

There's an old saying in the computor world, garbage in...garbage out...and that is what you're doing with these stats. There is a reason DC is a train wrecked mess. And it ain't DC. No, what we've had for the first four years, is a bunch of rejects, projects and broke backed old guys with little left in the tanks. And that's just the o-line.

Chester Pitts managed to start on our Line regardless who was brought in to make that decision, THat's got to say something about that bit of talent. & why does he have to be a first or second round pick?? Weary was the 66th pick of t he draft, that's just two picks out of the second........ is that close enough??
Then Charlie Casserly(who has had success before coming to Texas), Dom Capers(who has had success before coming to Texas), Dan Reeves(who has built championsip teams before coming to Texas), Mike Sherman(who has had success before coming to Texas) & Gary Kubiak(who has had success before coming to Texas) all said the Talent on our offensive line was good enough to win. Replacing only a Center(with a ProBowler), and our Left Tackle with a third round pick.
But no matter what...... they always come up short.

Get into the so called head coach and offensive coordinators ? You guys hated DC the momment this organazation drafted him.

Bull

By passing Vincent just sent some over the cliff. He should of shown more ? good greif. You've mark yourselves out of hand with your posts. You're football ignorant...nothing more.

hmm.........

In his 3rd year, J.P. Losman performed better than David Carr, despite being sacked more often. With comparable(IMHO less) talent around him.

In '06 Michael Vick's numbers are comparable to Carr's..... same kinda talent.. we have no problem saying Michael Vick sucks.

Rothlisberger..... sacked 46 times..... 3500 yards, 18 tDs, 23 INts.... are they blaming the team, or are they saying Ben needs to play better??

Marc Bulger..... sacked 49 times, but he's going to the proBowl. But that's probably because of Tory Holt.

Charlie Frye... 44 sacks....... Tell me what you think about him.

Jon Kitna....... 68 sacks..... 4300 yards... 21 TDs, 22 Ints.. would you consider that better??

Dallas gave up 37 sacks, only 6 less than we did on the year. but they were doing better than us, even when Bledsoe was the most sacked QB of the season. Romo getting sacked 21 times in ten games...... But he's going to the ProBowl.

whether you like it or not, those are the guys who performed in similar situations to Carr. But for some reason, Carr is the only one who's faults are not his own.

I am sick of it. Just because we're not posting about it doesn't mean we're happy about it. But no... we payed a guy $8 million not knowing if he was worth it or not. I'm sorry, that would be wrong. We awarded him an $8 mil bonus, plus a $5.25 million salary. $13.25 million that's $13,250,000.00 for one year(if we cut him).

There's no way that can come across, as not stupid.
The first thing?? Where have you been?? this has been building for 5 years. People criticizing the play of David Carr have been ostracized by the Cali Mafia, and the Texans Homers for the past 4 years.

GP's responce:

Oh, stop crying about all the "different factions" of Carr supporters.

I think 98% of us (minus Kaiser Toro, Hook 'Em, SWTBound, and Vinny) have gone back and forth as to what we think of Carr. You, especially, said you (a) had Carr's back...and then after the draft you (b) criticized him all day long, every day and then you (c) said OK, OK I agree he should be given a shot, and now you are (d) back on the "Look at all the franchise QBs we passed on" boo-hoo-hoo stuff. I've been there, too, and it's a place we all live at from time to time. I have gone back and forth on DC a lot, as well.

Let's be fair; however, and understand that it's human nature to wish for someone to rise up and do well--We all, with the exception of a few here, felt that David might have a chance at redemption this past season. There's no shame in that, is there? If DC is a decent guy (as it appears he is) shouldn't the main emphasis of all this talk be about how we hope he can do well somewhere else? But instead, in our selfishness, we only care about ridding the team of someone. And some may argue that DC was selfish for taking thoe bonus money, fo rnot re-working the contract etc., but we are all feeding the beast of entertainment by watching the NFL and actively propping it up. We're all involved in this bloody mess together, IMO.

So let's stop acting like DC (or any other Texans player for that matter) is just some cog in the wheel of our sports fantasy lives...let's understand that he was given a shot this season, it didn't really work out, and the Texans organization tried to do what it felt was the best thing to do. But because it DIDN'T work out doesn't mean it was stupid.

It was as stupid as guessing either heads or tails on a coin flip.

DC will land in Minnesota or Tampa Bay. And then we'll all have to find a new Texans player to become the goat of this franchise. It's human nature. Plummer would do no better or worse, IMO, than DC. Jeff Garcia would also not do as well here. It's been said, and it's true: We don't have enough talent in all areas to really be a great team right now.

20 years went by before Chicago landed back into the Super Bowl. And we're griping about our condition in only 5 seasons worth of Texans football. We would need to go 15 more years to truly understand what it's like to be a suffering fan for an NFL team.Yikes.

Go Texans!

We'll get it right eventually.

They started this draft before they were supposed to(after the combine), so the trade with the Dolphins is out of the question....This is how it is shaping up so far.

1. Jamarcus Russell
2. Calvin Johnson
3. Adrian Peterson
4. Gaines Adams
5. Joe Thomas

So only the Vikings left before I pick....I know not many of you guys are Brady Quinn fans, but is he a good pick at #8 IF Minny doesnt take him....

I like all these guys, no particular order...

Laron Landry
Alan Branch
Brady Quinn
Reggie Nelson

First of all... which moniker are you talking about?? which moniker fits..... what are you saying???

Then what have I been wrong about?? when have I ever said David will be gone?? I've been saying everyone is getting their hopes up too high, only to be let down, when David is starting for the Texans in '07.

I said I think David sucks, he has played poorly, we shouldn't have extended him. But he'll be back.

I've said I don't want Jake on this team, but I think he'll be an improvement over Carr, & replacing David with Jake will equal a winning season(maybe I didn't say it, but I've been inferring pretty hard). I've said I can see Kubiak selling to McNair, that we'd have a very good chance of getting to the playoffs with Jake. A good chance at 9-7 with Sage, and a decent shot at 8-8 with David. I'm saying I think Kubiak can make that argument believable to McNair, not that I believe it, if I did, I wouldn't have a problem with Jake coming to Houston.

I've done nothing but give my opinion, about what I think.... I can't be wrong, because that is how I feel, that is what I believe.

We won't know if I'm wrong about David starting, until the season starts, or David is traded...... whichever comes first.

I look forward to researing your pryor posts from the last three years...I pretty sure you've been a sheeps in wolves clothing for the better part of that time. I'll spend the time on it after the combine. I've been watching your BS for quite a while. Just because I didn't respond to it doesn't mean I missed it.

if you've been watching my BS for three years, then would I have really been a wolf in sheep's clothing, or was I just a wolf you chose not to respond to??

The worst you are going to find, is that I was behind Carr since I didn't see anything better. Then I saw something better, & I said so. I'm back to not seeing anything much better... and I'm for keeping David on this team. But I don't want him to be the Starter come week 1.

Search around the '06 preseason, & you'll find me stating my opinion that David doesn't give us the best chance to win, but will start regardless. Shouldn't, but will.

To be clear, I'm talking about the many times you've throw stuff up on this board without backing it up with research or facts. just your humble opinion. Which are mostly wrong out of hand. I look forward to the resaerch. After the combine. How much garbage can one guy post and still have the bravado to keep posting on the board ? We're fixin to find out.

then I'll see you after the combine.

Pick Satele. He might go in the late 2nd Rd in the actual draft. IMO best Center on the board.

From this list, I'd go with the Samson Satele, Drew Stanton, Doug Datish in that order.

Satele is right up there with Kalil in terms of technique and upside. I'd go with him. Blalock might be around in the 3rd...MIGHT. it'd be a tough decision between he and Satele.

I've thought about Blablock as a guard to take Chester Pitts' spot, then move him to LT, but I don't know how open Kubiak is to that idea.

McKinney is our best Center so far, Flannagan is our newest... but he's old. I would really like to see a Center who could at least compete for the job, and possibly start(because I have a feeling Kubiak is going to carry 7 or 8 OLmen on game day). Someone who should definitely be ready by 2008, with little to no drop-off from whatever we get in 2007.

Blalock should be long gone before the 3rd Rd.

I would love to see the Texans draft 3 consecutive OLinemen. Perhaps, they can trade down and still get Levi Brown and an extra pick, maybe 3rd Rd, then pick Satele in the 2nd Rd and a G in the 3rd Rd.

Why don't people like Drew Hodgdon? He seems pretty capable when he does play.

Not really.... he was lost on pass pro, couldn't hold a block, and couldn't move people in run blocking.

I thought I liked him in '05, and was itching to see him in '06, but the only difference between him & Flanagan was that the defensive player didn't even slow down to get through Flanagan. for Hogdon, they at least needed an extra half a second to get to the QB.

We need a center.

on another board and Miami is looking to trade with me for David Carr....what player interests you guys the most on this list along with pick #71 for David Carr

"Players I'd be willing to give with a 3rd rounder for David Carr (pick one):

RB Ricky Williams
TE Randy McMichael
WR Marty Booker
CB Will Allen
DE Kevin Carter
DT Keith Traylor
QB Joey Harrington
RB Sammy Morris
DT Jeff Zgonina

Just let me know which one you want plus the #71 pick for Carr."

The draft is starting after the combine and there is no trading once drafting begins...

Had a question....

How did you ended up with Adrian Peterson when I thought he was gone with the 3rd pick??

Also, who did you ended up picking in the third and fourth round?

By the way, good pick-ups in the draft so far.

3. Jason Hill, WR

Second Draft.
1. Brady Quinn, QB
2. Chris Houston, CB
3. Eric Wright, CB

There were no 4th rounds in either draft

Those are some pretty good pickups...especially the first one.
