Denver packages it's 1st RD (#21) and 2nd RD (#53?) with Jake Plummer for the Texans #8. What do you think? Who is buying? Who is selling? I think I am selling this.

Sounds like one heck of a deal that you guys would clearly be the winners of.

My football senses are telling me that if we trade with Denver, Shanahan will be crazy enough to want Babin or Peek.

How about David Carr and #8 (1st round) for Oaklands #1.

Pure rumor and speculation, something I read on another message board.

Rick Smith would do it in a heart beat.
You'll then have four picks in the first two rounds.
Sounds like N.E. from a few years ago.

:pigfly:
It would take Carr, our 2007 1st (8 overall), and our 2008 1st AT THE VERY LEAST to move up. Who would you even take at #1 overall?

Id go ahead and take that offer from denver...We'd save money by gettin a #21 in the first rd and then we could get a safety with that choice or a DT...We'd have a better quarterback and get another 2nd rd pick which we could spend on what we need ~

Buy.

We lose the chance at AD (no guarantee that he would fall to #8, or that someone would not trade up ahead of #8 to nab him), but we gain:
o an improvement at QB situation -- Plummer fights Carr for the starting job.
o financial flexibility. a #21 costs less than a #8 (sorry for stating the obvious)
o more picks. We need em, as we have many holes to fill.
o good value

Regarding good value, the NFL draft value chart has the #8 pick at 1400 pts, #21 at 800, and #53 at 370. The two picks, 21 and 53, combined value is 1170. We also get Plummer, which says he is worth 230 pts, equivalent to a round 3 pick.

Maybe Leon Hall falls to #21, or we just take BPA balanced against all of positional deficits/needs. Then, we can still look to an OT/S at #39/40 (can't remember which right now), plus the chance to add at #53.

I like it. Buy. Won't happen. But buy the hypothetical.

I don't know..... Gaines Adams?? Amobi??

Peterson won't be there. Especially if something like this goes down before the draft, everyone will know to trade above the #8 pick if Peterson makes it past Cleveland.

Do you honestly want to be put in that situation again?
In this situation....YES!!! Then we could draft Jemarcus Russell and end all these Carr threads. Or, maybe we could trade back down some and get even MORE draft picks.

Have not heard that, but I would snap it up if I'm Rick Smith! Then try to trade Carr for a 3rd rounder.

Wouldn't work and the reason is two words "Salary Cap" It would leave us no money for any FA and we have to many holes to fill.

Not only will he get them, he will turn them into a better player
