Why do you think Ginn will go to Minnesota? I do not think he will go that high myself, but interested to hear your logic behind the Norsemen taking him.

I don't think Houston passes on Russell, even with Peterson there.

I assume the Adams pick means Kerney is leaving.

I still think Ginn to Minn is too much Troy Williamson deja vu. I also think Minnesota would short circuit the Tarvaris experiment immediately if Russell were available, although they did give up two 3rds to get him.

they need serious help at WR. troy williamson hasn't been cutting it, but aside from him, you have Travis Taylor and Billy McMullen. ginn is certainly a top 10 pick at this point. i think most scouts agree on that.

I don't like Ginn as a prospect, he has a world of speed, but his route running needs work. I think he's going to be the 3rd receiver taken.

not really. ridiculous potential, very young, extremely dominant in the Senior Bowl, and Gruden is already speaking like he has a mancrush on him. exactly like he did with Cadilliac Williams.

russell isn't this amazing can't-miss prospect that minnesota or houston would HAVE to take. especially minnesota, who's already invested plenty into Jackson. they're not giving up on him yet. especially for russell, who doesn't fit childress' offense at all. quinn? maybe....maybe.

your top 20 looks solid (I thought I had Amobi rated high @ #6)

both Pittcock & Tyler fall to 2nd

Dwayne Jarrett should be higher at least #19 to Chow/VY @ Tennessee

New England have their pick of CB's here why not take the highest rated and then take Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee w/28th pick?

why is Revis still on the board this low in the draft?

27. New Orleans - Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas good pick

28. New England - Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno State very unimpressed with him, could become a FS instead of cb. where I like Brandon Meriweather better.

29. Baltimore - Joe Staley, T, Central Michigan good pick

30. San Diego - Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolian good pick

31. Chicago - Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State good pick

Daymeion Hughes, CB, Cal should be long gone

well if routes are his only problem, then that's no reason at all why he should drop in the draft. very raw, a coach's son, probably the fastest football player in the world, homerun threat everytime he touches the ball on special teams, etc.
Bowe will be a Titan... book it.
it definitely makes sense. jarrett also seems like a big possibility. but they really want ginn, because they need speed. too bad ginn will be long gone by then. maybe they can look at higgins in the 2nd instead.

pittcock and tyler are certainly both first rounders. tyler is the only true NT in this draft rated near the first round, and that'll be huge in his favor.

yeah, i think we see with matt leinart that norm chow's effect on the draft isn't really that much. if they think bowe is a better receiver, why take jarrett?

meachem is really good. and they know they can get mccauley later. mccauley is almost a guarantee to go to the jets or patriots due to the pat hill ties.

revis is there because that's the way it sometimes is.

hughes is almost a 2nd rounder now. he's a zone guy, period. he needs to be in a Cover 2 to succeed. that's why the colts will take him. or bears. or bucs early in the 2nd.

Okay, I want to fire away here.

JaMarrcus Russel at #9? Are you hoping Miami gets him after you called him a bust? He won't get past Cleveland at #3 and definately not by Tampa Bay at #4, who you have them taking Okeye which leaves me scrathing my head.

Ginn to Minnesota? I agree with you when you make the statement that Minnesota needs a WR, but, can you call Ginn a WR right now? I mean, he has tremendous potential, but they need a serious answer at WR and Ginn is not a solid WR. A playmaker? Definatley. A WR? We will have to wait and see. After the Troy Williamson experiment, I doubt they would take a shot on Ginn Jr., but you never know.

Dwayne Bowe over Dwayne Jarret? Maybe so, but I thought that was a little superising, along with the first CB to be picked as late as 20.

A few guys I thought went supringly high besides Okeye were Posluszny, Pittcock, Meachem, Beason, Houston, Staley, and McCauley who I have heard is dropping fast and has been very disappointing this week at the Senior Bowl.

Overall, I though you put together a very decent Mock Draft.

i'm not a russell fan at all. i'm sure cleveland would take quinn for the simple fact that there's a connection there between weiss and crennell. plus, quinn's a better prospect. i don't think randy mueller (miami's GM) would pass on russell if he is there; he's spoken in the past that he loves drafting QB's, and actually favors drafting a QB every year.

bowe is a better prospect than jarrett, PLUS he's been the best offensive player at the senior bowl, easily. not much of a surprise, and i don't get why people are so perplexed by jarrett's draft position.

pittcock and tyler are certainly both first rounders. tyler is the only true NT in this draft rated near the first round, and that'll be huge in his favor. Sorry but despite limited positional prospects I don't think you take them this significantly over better players. classic example of addressing need over value, why not use FA or later picks instead of your 1st rounder

yeah, i think we see with matt leinart that norm chow's effect on the draft isn't really that much. if they think bowe is a better receiver, why take jarrett? Bud Adams

meachem is really good. and they know they can get mccauley later. mccauley is almost a guarantee to go to the jets or patriots due to the pat hill ties. I have no problem with taking meachem as stated but if you have your choice of CB's (playing along with your order) is McCauley really better than Revis, Hughes & Houston or are you saying he is just a better fit?

revis is there because that's the way it sometimes is. so be with that

hughes is almost a 2nd rounder now. he's a zone guy, period. he needs to be in a Cover 2 to succeed. that's why the colts will take him. or bears. or bucs early in the 2nd. I was very impressed with him during this week, I thought he already was on the cusp of being a 1st rounder & saw nothing to suggest he would slip because of his performance.

added comments in bold. overall a really good mock.

People are making too much of the Chow-Jarrett connection. If they wanted Jarrett, they'd be better off re-signing Bennett. They're both relatively slow, tall receivers that aren't very physical and elevate well. Bowe's the better fit and a nice prospect in his own right, offering more speed than Jarrett and more bulk than anybody.

Nice mock, and thanks for posting it.

Where do you see Carriker(Nebraska DE)? He's had a great Senior Bowl so far. Would he be there in the second for the Texans?

I'd rather see us pick up a defensive lineman, but this guy has looked strong so far.

i have the steelers taking him, as talk in mobile is they are in love with him. and why shouldn't they be? he's the next Dan Hampton. huge, long arms, powerful, great burst, great in the run game and a beast on the edge rushing the passer. he's the best DE in this draft in my opinion.

i find it funny that nelson seems to be projected in mid 1st now and some still want us to get him at 8. seems like we could trade down and get him or lynch if peterson or branch arent there. thoughts? is landry really 7 picks higher than nelson?

kastofsna
01-26-2007, 08:59 PM
right now nelson is being hurt by the fact that he's not playing. landry is at the senior bowl right now and he's impressing people. it's as simple as that.

do you think it will even out? isnt that what's happening with okoye and branch?
if the team can get a DB signed in FA who do you think could be the BPA for them in rd 2?

kastofsna
01-26-2007, 09:17 PM
okoye and branch are different though. branch grades out more at NT while okoye is a pretty damn good 3-tech DT in the mold of warren sapp. teams like miami would love branch but really wouldn't have a use for okoye. but with landry and nelson, they're both free safeties, and they're both playmakers.

if the texans get a DB in free agency, then i'm guessing you'll keep looking defense in the 2nd round. more d-line help would be nice. someone to demeco ryans' weakside maybe.

Nice Mock draft. If AP not there at #8 I think we trade down and get M. Lynch and an extra draft pick. IMO Lynch is a better fit for our system then AP. But everybody remember that this is a mock and what happens in FA will affect the draft.

Interesting Mock Kastofsna. Now tell me again, what does your handle mean ?
But it shows the strongest part of this Draft by listing half of the top half dozen as DLineman, though I dunno if Okoye goes as high as #4 ? He definitely impressed at the senior bowl and I sure like him, but he did have some problems getting off the blocks this week in practice according to some reports.
And Russell lasting to #9 ? Get real !

I've seen Kastronostra's post all over the internet on the draft. He studies this stuff all year long. Not just the winter leading up to the draft. I don't agree with everthing he posts. Anything that has to do with Florida teams I lock it away as prety hard core stuff.

However, will say, I've seen more signifcant information from him in the last three weeks, than I have from you in the last two years. Be nice to see something other than a two sentce critsism from you. Or a pragraph defending the Titans when someone else knocks them. You know something with more than just...JMHO. Just saying there. Might to have to research a bit. Put a little work in. Study another team. How about one fresh thread from you there tack ?
