I know it's a different sport, but people said the same thing about the Dallas Mavericks last year after they finally got over their "hump" of San Antonio. Oh, and Rex was supposed to choke yesterday, too.

Who is ready for a 2006 version of the Super Bowl shuffle? I am hoping Peyton comes out with this one, but I think Rex Grossman, along with Benson and Jones, are going to have a killer night on February 4th in hot Miami.

The Colts beat the Ravens in a defensive battle.

Peyton threw three INTs in that game(IIRC).... but they still won.

If we can beat the Colts, I have no doubt that the Bears can as well.......

But I'm rooting for the Colts in a blow-out.... the bears will give up on the run if the Colts get up by three scores in the first half.

I'm predicting a blow out...... Colts 65..... Bears 3..... Peyton is going after the most TDs thrown in a SuperBowl or something.

I think the Colts will run away with this one. However I think the Bears defense who likes to take the ball away alot will have a good day. I say 31-10 Colts that is if the defense plays well against PM. If it doesn't play well and PM gets into a groove then I say 48-21 Colts. The only way the Colts will loose is if they do not stop Jones. I am not too worried about Benson, he seems a bit preoccupied. They desprately need to stop tj early so they can get into his head. If the Bears do happen to win it will be a sqeaker, like 20-16 or something. If PM has a bad day look for a boring Super Bowl.

Blowout Colts 14+ before Prince takes the stage.

Colts get up and Grossman is forced to pass. I don't think he can handle it. Turnovers favour the Colts. Colts walk it in.

( The NFC is really weak. I mean REALLY weak )

IF Sorgi has to play.. I reneg.

Colts by 3 after Prince plays

I didn't realize your "D-Wade" had to come from one position. There's plenty of playmakers on the Bears that can step into that role, including Devin Hester, Thomas Jones, Cedric Benson, Bernard Berrian, Desmond Clark and even Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and Nathan Vasher on defense. If Rex Grossman were that important, they wouldn't have gotten past the Saints, much less blown them out.

Yes, and in the NFL you don't get to shoot 25 foul shots when you're entire offensive plan consists of charging headfirst into the defense to draw a foul. :)

Why's it gotta be like that??

When we were looking to trade up for a running back at the end of the first, I thought we were going after Addai.... I thought he fit our team better than the other backs.......

I think most people agree that the Colts should be favored, which I do agree with. From there, the majority begins to exagerate and act like the favored team has a "slam dunk", when in reality it will probably be close. Well, at least it should be, but you know how the Superbowl tends to have a lot of not-so-close games.

The Bears defense has been bad so far. They can't seem to stop the Colts on third down. The defense has earned their time on the field. The offense can't do anything because their defense is out there the whole game.

I can see what you are saying but the D has held the Colts to FGs to keep it within a TD the whole time. When the offense does get it on a turnover or a FG the offense fumbles the snaps ..twice..or goes three and out. They should have dominated the 1st half and kept giving it back. Grossman basically just sealed the game with a horrible throw.

A bad game that I really don't care about. Both teams in the 1st half couldn't take advantage of the other team playing horribly. I mean the Bears run back a kickoff and get a pick on Manning and still fail to take advantage. They had leads and kept giving it away on blown snaps, etc. I'm not meaning to beat a dead horse but watching the Bears scares me because people say you can win with a Grossman...Carr...and have a strong D. It is alot of pressure on a D when the offense is inept.

I know but it has to be said. That has been the argument of people around here...a guy who can get it done when needed a great D. However, if the D has to do everything and the top competition forces them to make plays it puts pressure on the offense who isn't used to making plays. I'm sure people will argue that they go to the SB but I will say it again..it is the exception, not the rule. You need balance and people who can get it done.

Well Addai and Rhodes got screwed big time. Hell the Defense could have gotten the MVP before Manning what a hose job.

Everyone saying Grossman looked like Carr but to be honest everyone watching the game here thought that the Colts looked just like Carr and the Texans. Not saying Carr is Manning but just the way the offense was running. Nothing down field so dink and dunk underneath with checking off to the backs or recievers down under. Course there line did a much more superb job of giving the running game a boost.

Zone you must have had one to many. Manning did not deserve the MVP and had a very shaky game. Yes he had some decent stats but he looked really shaky and crappy at times. To be honest I was hoping Big Url would pound him once or twice cause I was getting sick of looking at him whine and cry after everything.

He should be kissing his receivers and backs for reeling in some of those lame duck floaters he left out there and they had to pay the price of a nasty hit for it. Instead he was bitching at them. As stated before RB's and Defense won that game for them as Manning just took what he could dink & dunk.

I am no Chicago fan but Manning as good as he is most of the time seems to be a big a#$clown.

And Miami gets it again after the pouring rain today. Houston should have gotten the 2009 or 2010 Super Bowl, but Bob McNair pissed off too many small-market owners.

Crap.

A lesson for life learned today: Never underestimate the ability of Jesus to screw up a perfectly good money making gamble.

29-17 in the fourth... 4th down and inside the twenty with a minute left on the clock. One the best kickers in the game on your roster... what do you do?

RUN the BALL!!! WHAT!!! For What? To give them a chance?

Had he kicked it in that would have made it 32-17 and covered my 14+.

God, I hate Jesus.

Chicago had no timeouts, and they didn't want to give up a big blocked kick play. Better to set them up with that bad field position

I have also never seen empty seats like that in a Super Bowl.

Hard to have one too many when you're a teetotaler like me lol, may be it was you who was a little fuzzy? The only "whining and crying" I saw was when his receivers were dropping the balls he placed right on the numbers. I'd be crying too.

Well those whose opinions count agree with me and Manning got the award and the Caddy. :marionaner:

Nope gotta disagree on where the superbowl should be held.

New Orleans every year mandatory :marionaner: :drunk:

Face it most people in the biz thought Houston was a very dull place to have the Superbowl. Yea great facilities but nothing else. Same as said about Detroit, Jacksonville and a few other places. Games were just given because they agreed to build new stadiums.

Wasn't on McNair its just that Houston isn't regarded highly as party city USA.

He got it because he is Peyton Manning and nothing more.

Kinda funny how it was said before the start of the game that all the colts had to do was win the game and Manning would be named the MVP.

HMMMMM

It didn't matter how his game went if they won he was the MVP and you are correct it was regardless of how myself or anyone else thought.

Thats funny because Houston was praised on how well the parties were. Houston was a much better location than Detroit or Jacksonville. The Main Event Downtown was packed with people. It was a wide Bourbon Street. People came here and said, "Houston knows how to party!" Most people in the media said Houston had the best Super Bowl bid, just McNair was accused of taking money from small-market owners, so they didn't vote for him. A New Orleans, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, and San Diego rotation would be nice.

Well if those people were the Chronicle and John Mclain then I guess so.

I have heard from many media types on different shows and read many newspaper and magazine articles claiming just the opposite. But they to could be biased in favor of their cities. Would not be hard to believe.

Downtown Houston is a far cry from and will never in its best days be Bourbon Street and New Orleans. A nice wannabe but that's about it. I was there not even close.

A rotation of a few cities could be nice. But the problem is everytime someone builds a new stadium its almost a given that the deal includes a superbowl so it really nots the rotation thing for a loop.

It's not about numbers, it's about results and who had the biggest part in engineering the win. Take any other single player off the field and Colts still win, take Manning out, not so much. If anyone deserves MVP Manning does.

yea right...he play shaky as hell, he only got it because he is Manning. Rhodes played better and had a larger impact, but because all u hear about is Manning he got MVP, just look the Pro Bowl - Ryans was great this year (and DRoY) but get screwed because not many people heard about him.

the NFL media and fans showed how they value the stars; not by who plays the best but those with the biggest name...the sports media is a joke

With a lot of folks crying about the rain during the game, have we forgotten that this is football and playing in the elements is allowed?

I'm glad we have a retractable roof over Reliant Stadium, but football in rain, snow, etc. is just part of the way the game has always been.

last night's game was a pretty telling example to the league being so against having the Super Bowl in a northern city. yeah yeah elements are a part of the game, so what? it's a much better product and much more entertaining when the weather is good, simple as that. dungy even said after the game that neither team was able to do what they were capable of doing because of the rain. i'm all for domes.

I'm glad the Colts won, because we beat them last and it's gonna look that much better when we punch them in the mouth again next year! :marionaner:

Manning does deserve a SB win, but he didn't deserve that MVP. Rhodes is a good choice. Although they lost, and I know the losing team never has the MVP, I think Vasher should get it. He did well and fought it all the way, considering the passing game he had to go up against.

Mostly, I'd like to see that girl in the "marketing department" get it. :ok:

I have no problem with cold, snow, wind etc. but I've just never liked watching football in the pouring rain. I want to see the teams play against each other I don't like seeing them have to fight a slippery field and a slippery ball and poor visibility. It's just not fun to watch. As a fan I want to see the skills of both teams displayed to fullest extent and that's just not possible in a non-stop downpour.

I don't think it affected the outcome of the game because if anyone should be better at playing on grass in bad weather it should have been the Bears. Personally I feel that the score would have been something more like 45-14 Colts without the rain. Funny how so many want to pick on Manning when he won and Grossmans dismal performance gets to skate.

i'm glad Manning won the MVP just so people could say he didn't deserve it. ahhh.

All the talk for the last two weeks has been about Manning..... & what this game would mean to him if he won.

He was not the mechanical..... perfect Manning we are used to seeing(he hasn't been all year)... he played as well as many a QB has in the SuperBowl, but not up to his own standard(I think)..

But if I were handing out MVPs yesterday, I'd give the first one to Dominic Rhodes..... I thought Antoine Bethea & Cato June stepped up and had a really good game... & then Manning.

But..... it's not a big deal, I'm not going to cry about it. Manning is still the best QB in the league. & is now a lock for the HOF.

That's true and he could've easily had a much better game, but it just didn't happen. Probably more luck of the draw than anything else.

And the stench of puke and piss like you have on Bourbon Street is a good thing??

Plus I never want to see a dome game for a SB. It is like watching a boring Madden game in a Home Depot store with the lights, etc. If there is a must place it is San Diego. Miami is usually good but even with the rain I liked it. It id football.

Phil Simms actually said something worth listening to when he suggested that Rhodes & Addai should be Co-MVP's. & how about that hometown kid with over 140 yds of Total offense......................take that Reggie.

Mr. B

Yea San Diego would be nice in the rotation.

As for the Puke and Piss Stench on Bourbon Street that just kinda lets you know you are really there. Could definatly be better without it but its been like that for years and the City does nothing about it.

I actually used to frequent Bourbon Street many, many years ago and back then it didn't have the stench everyone dislikes so much. Course different times and different type of people on Bourbon Street back then.

I really wish and was hoping after Katrina that New Orleans would just scrap the dome and instead of constantly dumping in fix it up money build a new stadium with possibly a retractable roof or something of the sort.

But Benson doubtfully will not chip in any cash and the state really can't afford it right now even though it would be a premeir money maker for the city for a long time.
