okay folks, let's see if we can get enough participation for this.

basically, we need 31 participants. each member will select a team to draft for. we will use the current draft order and actually start a draft, starting with the Oakland Raiders, all the way to the San Diego Chargers. the Seahawks don't have a first round pick, so we'll exclude them for now. if everything goes through as planned, maybe we can go to the 2nd round, why not? we could probably do this several times leading up to the draft, too. it'll be FUN! :snobord:

since it'll take some time to get everyone to pick their team, and at the risk of some people just not being around for when their team picks, i'll give each pick a 12-hour window. after that, i'll just make the pick, and if i'm not around....uh...someone else will. okay, so here's the teams. naturally, i'm picking the dolphins

1. Oakland - Heywood - JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU
2. Detroit - mexican_texan - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
3. Cleveland - beerlover - Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
4. Tampa Bay - Honoring Earl 34 - Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin
5. Arizona - Hoth-Boy - Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
6. Washington - Battle Red Flash - Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
7. Minnesota - htownfoozball - Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC
8. Houston - xtruroyaltyx - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
9. Miami - kastofsna - Ted Ginn, Jr, WR, Ohio State
10. Atlanta - Texian - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
11. San Francisco - jjcorvallis - LaRon Landry, S, LSU
12. Buffalo - threetoedpete - Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
13. St. Louis - Bubbajwp - Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss
14. Carolina - LORK 88 - Paul Posluzny, LB, PSU
15. Pittsburgh - HomeBred_Texan - Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal
16. Green Bay - TexanFan881 - Michael Bush, RB, Louisville
17. Jacksonville - TEXANS84 - Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh
18. Cincinnati - Texan in Japan
19. Tennessee - Wharton
20. New York Giants - K.D.
21. Denver - Battle Red Bull

28. New England - WildBlackBear32
29. Indianapolis - DenverBorn
30. Baltimore - STEEL BLUE TEXANS

well there's no guarantee how long it'll take. maybe you should take a team that picks lower.

Since it may be a hard sell to someone, I'll take Tennesse this round.

If we do multiple 1st round drafts, I'd like to switch each draft.

At the very least, it'll give me an opportunity to size up the competition.

I think we should make a rule though. When you pick, you must explain why you think your team should take a particular player. The explanation doesn't have to be big, just informative.

For instance, Lets say the first pick is Adrian Peterson, reason, Raider's were the 4th worst running offense in 2006, Peterson is the best running back in the draft.

Just keep it simple.

thanks, but we'll take OL in round 2 and perhaps 3 as well. our RBs are way above-average. we need OL, QB and a WR.

I disagree Tampa can neither run or pass and Thomas an OT was clearly the best player on the board . Tampa also has two 2nd round picks ... you don't pass on a stud for need .

You pair Thomas with Davin Joseph and you have a start for a good young line .

i've been thinkin, maybe we shouldn't go beyond 1 round, the enthusiasm dies down, plus the general knowledge of players definitely narrows. we'll just start over and pick teams over. maybe next time we can just replace the first patriots pick with the seahawks so it's fair.

that'd be a pretty foolish investment. they'd have the highest paid QB in the league and quinn will get around 50 million. you're looking at 150 million at the QB position. they can get schaub's replacement later on. or in free agency. either way, they can save a TON of money.

It's not about him being a good receiver or not. The Lions have used there first pick to select a WR too many times in recent history. They need gamebreakers at other positions. roth is a 2-gap DE. he's there to plug up the weak side and put pressure on the QB occasionally. he's too slow to be an OLB. he's also played DT in nickel/dime situations.

doesn't really matter how much you've followed roth if you don't understand how his abilities translate to the NFL. i've followed him too, and i had him as a first round prospect in '05. but certainly not at OLB.

Yes, the 12 hour thing is toast somehow. I would have liked your pick better for the Texans.

There was a lot of banging on the wagon master to get it moving along. The posts are in there. Be nice to hang the first round up by Sunday night.

It was not made out of spite . Simply a function of the highest value pick for the spot. We waited on you longer than the others. So now we'll have to wait untill the snake wakes up again. It'll start moving again. There's no hurry is there ? Only so many DC threads you can start. Or stand to read.

OK, I just saw that and didn't bother to read thru all the 12 pages of posts to find that exact one, after the first couple pages I gave up, my apologies, although I wouldn't like Reggie Nelson there either. That is a retarded pick for us.

P.S. Why the hell would Pittsburgh take Marshawn Lynch in the 1st round with Willie Parker on the roster?

Since you are such the expert and all...

Who would you pick ?

And I realize that you just left that little nasty comment because you felt foolish....

Quinn is a retarded pick for us. I don't like Nelson at this point but at least that pick has some semblance of intelligence to it, maybe I'll like him better if he has an outstanding workout compared to Landry and Griffin but I like the way both of them play better.

Among the players available on this mock Leon Hall would be my pick, LaRon Landry a close 2nd.

Uh, because now they have a dynamic duo? They need to take the pressure off of Big Ben, but needed a CB, and those were taken up real quick...

Besides, it was my pick and I think it was a good one, thank you very much...

Willie Parker had almost 1500 yards and 13 TDs this year, they aren't going to use a 1st round pick to add another player to that. If they do get a RB somewhere, they'd get a bigger back later to have a change of pace/short yardage back that complements Parker, so if they were to take a RB they'd probably go for Michael Bush there, but bottom line a team that finished 8-8 and that has a RB that puts up 1500 yards and 13 TDs is not going to take a RB in the 1st round, but as you said you were the temporary GM of the Steelers. If only we could get you hired there in real life...

I agreed with the pick...thought it was a good one. When they won the superbowl Parker was the change of pace back...seems like they play better when they have a talented change of pace guy.

He has 12 hours. The idea is that people dont live in front of their computers and have a lives to live. Thus the 12 hour limit to make a pick. If you want it to be faster, make your own mock.

sorry, didnt mean to snap at you, I am just frustrated that people are seemingly unwilling to give people the 12 hour window. We all agreed to abide by that rule. If teh rule was it was a live draft and you had 10 mins, thats one thing, but we all knew what we were going in for.

Well I'm pretty sure Kasta picked for at least 4 different people last night. The Quinn selection was definitely not made by Xtruloyaltyx and this thing is a joke anyway. No sense in getting all riled up about it.

I think with the 32nd pick the Chargers just might take Ray Rice....hint, hint...

The last pick, by Texans84, says "13 hours ago". Time to move on. No offense but if you live in Japan and can't get on the board over the weekend, don't sign up for the draft. Can we go ahead and give someone else his pick?

Thank you... They lost the bus and now I gave them a taxi... I don't know what the big deal is, it made more sence to take him than for the Texans to take brady quinn, IMHO... :hides:
