Circumstances being that we were playing one of the toughest schedules in the league with one of the highest total players on IR in the league.

Not every first year coach is going to luck out and make the playoffs his first year, but its nice to know that our coach can make us competitive to the point where we were in position to win 10 games this year going down to the final play given the circumstances.

Our players are going to have a year in the system under their belts, Mario is going to be healthy, and we will have another draft/free agency to upgrade the roster. We have a very good shot of being one of the suprise teams next season like the Saints and Jets were this season :yahoo:

I really hope so. I thought that about this year and had some smart***** arguments with people telling them so, going on about all the new DL & OL people we had obtained in the off-season . Didn't help my credibility any :secret:

agreed. simply going from 2-14 to 6-10 is a great improvement. going from 0-6 in the division to 3-3 is huge. making those improvements with a rookie head coach is impressive. combined with having 17 players on IR (18 if you count wong), and one of the most difficult schedules ... we had a very solid season and something positive to build on.

kubiak's going to have a season under his belt, it's unlikely our schedule could get any tougher, and a good chance that we'll be better off next year in the injury department. even after just ending a losing season, it's easy to be excited about next year.

We ended the season very nicely. Beating a team we weren't supposed to beat and then following it up by beating a team we should've beaten. When was the last time we did that? haha

I don't think Kubes gets enough credit for what he did this year. I believe except for a few games we were very competitive in many we played. We probably had the least experienced team on the field and still had a decent turn out. I think this team played hard going down the stretch and fought hard.

I think this team can be very scary next year. I think this Defense will surprise alot of people next year and win us some games. Plus we will need a very productive running game to take the pressure off our QB situation what ever that may be. I think if we get Alex Gibbs and sure up D alittle we could be a surprise team maybe WC material.

I loved that too!

6-10 that coulda been 9-7. (Tenn, Buff, NYG)

For a franchise that was made out to be the worst franchise in the history of man by every publication out there after the draft and passing up on Bush and Young, 6-10 from 2-14 is pretty darn good.

Not far away from being a playoff wildcard team with some smart free agent signings, having a solid draft by bringing in some game changers and hiring Alex Gibbs to come in and coach Oline.

As long as we don't stand pat on some critical issues, we could make a huge jump next year ala 2006Jets and 2006Saints...lets just hope we dont pull a 2005Texans :redtowel:

Where could I find a list of our players on IR and our final SOS ranking?

edit--
Found the SOS rankings:
1. Tennessee (8-8) 0.142
2. Buffalo (7-9) 0.114
3. Miami (6-10) 0.103
4. Houston (6-10) 0.081
5. Cleveland (4-12) 0.061

Can't seem to find the final IR list though.

Yeah I mentioned Alex Gibbs in another thread I think that would be the best move this team could make.

6-10 this season has left me pretty optimistic for 2007, all things considered.

We did two things in the last two weeks that we've never done: beat the Colts and won our last game of the season. Plus we ended on a two game winning streak, which hasn't happened since the 2004 season.

As coachdent mentioned, we were only a few plays going our way from being an 8-8 or 9-7 team this year, so it's not that far off to believe that we can get healthy, upgrade our talent, and go for our first winning season in 2007.

I think I actually feel better after this season than I did after the 7-9 season. I think we have the foundation for a dominant defense, which is never a bad thing. Our offense has some major issues, mainly the offensive line and the QB decision, but I truly believe Kubiak will have it under control.

I just wish the 2007 season wasn't a loooooooooooong 9 months away!!
