I dunno, but for my money this is the marquee matchup of this Bowl season.
They just kicked off with Michigan having to punt.
Lot of big names here. One down note, as they just reported the Michigan
LT Long, a junior, says he will stay in school for the 2007 season.

Long will be a RT in the NFL....

I bet both defenses are expecting Vince Young to pop out sometime in the 4th quarter.

I'm glad Vince is on my team now, but damn it was fun watching him dominate in college. This game is bor-ing....

If anyone wants to know who I want to draft in 2 years, just watch this game...

The QB from Michigan is just a jr and will probably play another year and then come out, but I have him marked as our future...

That is the reason I say keep Carr for another year...

Branch's recovery was BS. He was pushed off the ball and out of the play. The LB knocked the ball out and he just happened to be standing there to fall on it.

I had to get that out because some moron who didn't watch the game will see that stat and assume he actually did something. He is getting owned at the POA.

Also, Dan Mozes was dominated at the POA as well today.

Eh.

I like Hart more. Good blocker as well. Long could turn out to be a McNeil type prospect. He is in a scheme similar to ours and has done well. He may be just athletic enough to anchor a LT spot in the pros, so don't cast him for RT only just yet, especially since he is still going to develop for another year.

He was pretty far out of the play but he was in the wrong place at the right time.

he did not happen to be just standing there to fall on it, he was down on the ground & had to dog paddle, army style, like there was barb wire to crawl under. lol not sure if this is an actual drill they practice but very impressive never the less.

sorry but this moran is watching :) got my eye on the prize :trophy:

He is getting owned at the POA.

another inaccuracy. Alan Branch is owning the interior of the USC line :shades:

He was standing with his hands on his hips when he saw the ball hit the ground. He basicly tripped over himself trying to fall on the ball when no one else was close. It is a drill that is practiced, but that is not how it happened.

I think the Michigan MLB is a player. Instincts off the cart. However, I don't see many "prizes" on Michigan. Maybe Hart.

No he's not. He is getting washed out by an undersized C in Kailh. He is being turned and pushed back consistantly. He has been a very small factor. He did move well laterally for his size in the 1st quarter to make a nice tackle, but has done pretty much nothing since. Kailh should be moving up boards, branch should be falling.

Yes, he has looked better. Lawrence Jackson has been pretty dominant. Jake Long should deff. go back to school and I don't want anyone from Michigan's secondary. Too much cushion, not enough speed, Buchanon would run circles around their tackling.

WOW ! Didn't expect that kind of winning margin by either team.
Jarrets a fool if he doesn't come out now IMO.
To a lesser degree for sure, but stll like VYs performance in the RB last year.
How can he improve on what he did tonight ?

Yeah. He got burned by a poession WR and couldn't tackle to save his life. (He did have one diving, desperation, shoe string take down early). The entire secondary got lit up big and exposed. Woodly and the MLB are players but Branch, Henne, and Hall were outplayed and shown up. Looks like YTF was right again.

Leon Hall huh? Mr. jarrett/Smith ate his lunch today. Classic case of a guy who had a dominating front 3/4 that helped to mask his cover skills. Whomever he was holding, they ate his lunch & didn't leave him a crumb:

Jarrett: 203 yds, 2 TDS
Smith: 108 yds, 1 TD

After watching that game, i want no parts of the Michigan secondary.

So how did you like my boy Ryan Kalil?

I wouldn't call him your boy, I've been pimping him too.

He is a good ZBS prospect with his size, but he pretty much owned the interior Michigan Dline. He pretty much tore Branch up on two 4th and 1's where they went straight QB sneaks behind him. He is my top rated C right now.

Mozes got owned at the POA today and was stood up easily. I see little difference between him and what Hodgen brings.

Kailh is where my money is at.

It seemed to me more like the Michigan safties were owned by Jarrett. It looked like Hall was covering Steve Smith most of the game. They should have put Hall on Jarrett the entire game, but Carrol's staff outcoached Carr's.

I thought Long did pretty well too, and they run a zone scheme there. The interior, right side, and backs & tight ends were not good for most of the game. Too bad he said he is going back to school though. Long looked better to me than Baker today, but USC looked much better than Michigan as a whole. I could be happy with either on the Texans, that is assuming they change their minds and come out and that the Texans don't get a shot at Adrain Peterson.

Long outplayed Baker.
Kailh outplayed Branch.
Smith outplayed Hall.
Jarrett outplayed Hall.

Hall was matched up on Jarrett on at least one TD and at other times during the game. I have it TiVo'ed so I'll watch it more, but Hall got owned all day.

I agree about Branch. He looked OK early, but didn't really show much after that.

On the TD Jarrett had against Hall, I think Hall had the inside/underneath route and was expecting safety help over the top-help which was late. Still I can see where a #1 corner should do better. Hall did run Smith down from behind on one play where he was not covering him.

Again the Michigan safties looked Texan-like today. The corners did not look great either, but part of that I think was a lack of pressure on Booty. Shoot, the Michigan defense looked Texan-like at times due to lack of pass rush and pressure on Booty. That is one thing the Texans MUST improve on next year if they want to take that next step. I can see that Hall might take a hit after this game (and the OSU game), but I think he could still help this team. It all depends on who is available of course.

Agreed, I still think Leon Hall is a good prospect. It was mainly their other CB getting burned all game and giving up the majority of the big plays. Hall still has good physical tools and mechanics, having zero pass rush made their secondary look bad today, as it does to most any team. I think Michigan's S Willis Barringer has the physical tools to be decent, I think he's better than CC Brown anyways, would maybe look at him in the 5th round or below. I like David Harris a lot, he won't have overly impressive measurables but he reads plays really well and is quick to the ball and tackles well, reminds me a lot of DeMeco Ryans only he weighs 250 something pounds. I am not very fond of Alan Branch and don't overly like Woodley for our team. Burgess is mainly effective as a pass rusher but didn't get much done on that front today. Breaston is a decent speed WR. Kalil looked ok but I wasn't watching him much of the time so I can't overly comment, he didn't make any big mistakes. Dwayne Jarrett obviously had an impressive game, cemented a 1st round grade if there was ever any doubt, assuming he decides to come out. Lawrence Jackson looked pretty solid, would not mind looking at him or Baraka Atkins from Miamia in the mid rounds. I thought Dallas Sartz also had a pretty good game, not sure what he's done the rest of the year but he looked pretty solid today.

I'll agree Branch, Hall, Woodley even Long where dissapointing. they all hurt themselves with Branch probably returning along with Long to Michigan. Hall is now probably a middle first rd. pick, I like Woodley but not for the Texans running the 4-3.

Who really impressed me that I did not think of as highly before was Booty. he seemed alot quicker in his 7 step drops, excellent accuracy made a strong case for next years draft.

Final note: I'm glad now that OSU is playing FU for the National Championship clearly Michigan had their chance, USC as well, & blew it. somehow the BCS got it right again, simply amazing :pigfly:

:

Unless he improves alot he is no Matt Lienert or Vince. He benefits from the talent around him.

Every big play Jarrett made I looked for the numbers. It was 14 (Trent) almost all the time, 19 (Barringer) on occasion and I didn't see #29 (Hall) once - apart from the save-the-touchdown dive after Jarrett burned BOTH 14 and 19.

I generally consider it a GOOD sign when you don't see a CB's number much.

Once the Fiesta stuff got going, though, I let the DVR take care of most of the 4th.

On the TD by Jarrett where the late hit penalty in the endzone was called, #29 (Hall) was the one who was initially burned. Smith who #29 (Hall) was covering most of the game still put up 100 yards.

Agreed, guy gets triple teamed that tells me everything I need to know about the guy. Don't know if the Texians take the guy or not. He's not a pass rushing deamond. But he does suck up blockers like Jupitor sucks up astriods.
Just what the doctor ordered with Weaver- Mario , Babins or Peek at the wings.
Going to be a hoot on first and ten whatching the gaurds try to block him on running plays one on one.
