View Full Version : Carr's Message to the Fans

While i'm posting on this board I listen to 610. And I heard David Carr wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. He went on asking everyone not to let what he and the team are doing now get anyone down during the holiday. I admit, I have been one of his biggest detractors but I can appreciate him putting all of this criticism in the holiday perspective. Mr. Carr if you read this or anyone that knows him reads this let him know that the Bourda family would like to wish his family and the entire Texans organization a very merry Christmas. Thanks for reminding me to take off my fan goggles off for a second.

Good post. I am one of the last to get off the Carr bandwagon, but I like him as a person and wish him and the rest of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

At this point, I think it's better for Carr and for the Texans to go their separate ways at the end of the season, but I wish Carr the best and hope he enjoys some success in the NFL.

I was reflecting on this earlier in the day, and I thought about Jim Harbaugh, who was drafted by the Bears in the 1st round to be their QB. The fans turned on him, so the team let him go. He subsequently signed with the Colts and one season led them to the AFC Championship game, finishing 2nd in the MVP voting that season.

I thought perhaps Carr could have a similar experience somewhere else and hope that ends up being the case, in large part because I agree with Justice's observation that the organization failed Carr more than Carr failed the team--especially that joke of a former General Manager we used to have. Last year, Pro Football Weekly cited an unnamed NFL source as saying if he were David Carr, he'd sue Casserly for non-support.

Anyway, it was something for me to later see later in the afternoon that Harbaugh was hired today to be the new head coach at Stanford -- right after I thought of him for the first time in years in light of Carr's situation.

Merry XMAS to all!

No! I expect we will be way better than the Lions, in part due to improved play by the new starting QB, who will be helped by having a better offensive line and running game...

The Lions will continue to remain pitiful until they get rid of Millen, who I think is even worse as a GM than Casserly.

I've read here that people say that Fresno State never played anybody which is just ignorant. Outside of their WAC schedule they had to play some good teams and they were competitive. They didn't win much but it was fun to watch.

I personally witnessed David connect with Bernard Berrian more than a few times against what was the #7 team in the country named Oregon State under Dennis Erickson, who was an assistant of Jim Sweeney back up north.

They destroyed OSU 63-7 or something like that and I believe a very good Barry Alvarez Wisconsin team learned who Carr and Berrian were.

If I made the highlight reel as being the #1 "JACKED UP!!!" MNF halftime deal, I might have a few other things on my mind, like "Please be open before I get clobbered AGAIN!"

Anyway, Dave would be a good fit on a team that has a competent front office and a team that wants to and has the talent to win. I think Chicago would be a nice place for him to be.

Merry Christmas Dave, Melanie, and Austin!

Agreed. I'm a Carr fan also. I remember watching those games. However, the cadaver has been picked clean in here. If I read between the lines correctly in the interveiws...he's ready to move on also. Alot of folks got him burried in here but I believe he'll make a come back one day. I don't think he's a quiter at all. Any flaws in his game now....this franchise put them there. The way I look at it is this franchise took a great prospect and basically ruined him with lack of support. I don't even think the hometown guru can roll away the stone at this point. But wouldn't it be a hoot if Kubiak decides to bow his neck up this off season ? I personally think it would be a mistake. But it'd be fun in here wouldn't it ? Hollywood John would absolutly lose his mind, lol.

I agree, that Carr has been almost totally picked clean by the poor coaching and management. The Texans took "a diamond in the rough" (hey that's vinny's line) and grinded him down to less than what he had the potential to be for us.
I hope its not too late...if not in Houston..then somewhere else. I will always be a big Carr fan...but I'm a also a bigger Texans fan. So I may be a Carr homer, but I'm a bigger Texans homer. That's why I keep buying season tickets.

yeah that was a good post. To be honest, if David Carr is able to start for another team and have great success, I wont be bitter at all. I will actually route for him. He has thrown himself out there and taken beatings for this team. I admire his heart and willingness to get better. I just think that Carr's confidence in a Texans uni is shot. I think if you put him in the right situation, perhaps a downfield passing style offense like st. louis's or cincy's, then he will thrive. Believe me, I wont be bitter to see him go on and have crazy success. He has been nothing but classy with the houston fans, so the least we can do is wish him the best of luck wherever he goes, even if he beats us with a 40 yd TD bomb in overtime.

They took the "diamond" and let it get hit it by several different hammers year after year and expected it to turn into flawless gem. If Carr is gone next year I hope he does well. I don't think he will move his family. I bet he stays a Houstonian now.

Wild men win in the NFL. Wild, unsown oats single men who play the game with reckless abandon. McNair wants a squeaky clean board room running an organization that competes week end and week out with Banditos and Hell Angels. The Dallas Cowboys are the epitome of how you build locker room swagger. You don't do it with nice married men who roll in to Church early every Sunday just like you wouldn't fight a war with those folks. The Dallas Cowboys game against the Texans should have been all the message McNair needed. They came out hunting heads, remember? 3 face mask penalties in the first 10 minutes. They won by the way. Nice wins in the boardroom McNair. Nice don't win **** on Sundays. McNair, give up your vision of what a Christian locker room should be and let the men be men. And don't have them lead by milkshake breath. Get a guy who'll date a floozy or two. Get some stones and swagger.

kingh99
12-19-2006, 10:28 AM
McNair can't run a team like a team should be run. He's got to go or we will suck forever. He's not the guy to run this team. He's obviously too well endowed and secure with his manhood. We need a guy with a little pee pee like Jerry Jones or Mark Cuban. Someone who needs to project his manliness through his team. I am semi-serious here by the way.

Good night, John-Boy.

I never paid much attention to his personal life other than "family" and his "faith" are the most important things in his life. However, I DO know he and his wife graduated Stockdale HS in Bakersfield, CA.

I saw a comment where someone said he'll never move his family if he goes to another team. True, they won't go back to Bakersfield while he's in the NFL, but I guarantee his family will move with him as they are a very close family. He was thinking he'd be a career QB in Houston and it's obvious he's on his way out.

The reason he has class and conducts himself well is because his family is very supportive and that along with his faith keeps him strong. You're not going to see him in the police blotter no matter what. He is mature beyond his words.

I've been curious to see what Houston fans are like and I see many are positive and then there are some immature posters here. Then again, this is a fan site and that's just how it is.

Nice to hear this coming from a poster who has earned tenure on this MB. I don't always agree with you or others, but I take it in stride and realize we are all venting.

But the same usual posters eventually appear in every thread like a bully at a play ground simply looking to pick a fight or chase everyone away. Thank you for this post and I hope that the majority of the people on this board will try to unite for the last 2 games and simply support our team 100%.

lod01, Wonger, you guys have just turned into nothing but trolls on this board with your "broken record" posts full of hate. You're right that the Texans need to change quarterbacks but that's not even the point anymore. You can't let a simple thread like this about keeping things in perspective slide by without interjecting this ****. You need to step back and find some of that perspective yourselves because who do you think wants to talk to someone who's most insightful comment amounts to "Carr sucks! Worst QB Ever!". What is that mess? Eagles trolls add more to the discussion in here than you guys do with that kind of trash.

This board is on a slow slide into the toilet and it's posts like the ones in this thread from you two that are the reason for it.

Well done Herv.

Amen! Vitriolic spewing doesn't do anything to further or enlighten discussion. I have learned a lot on this board, but lately too much :stirpot: with absolutely no logical reasoning. That helps no one and hurts many. Not a good thing.

He's tough and he never *ever* complains...I admit his performance has been shady, but I have never questioned his character or his desire to win.

I still believe that if anyone can fix Carr, it is Kubes.

Carr made me a lot of money this weekend and for that I and my wife are very thankful. Hedging the heart makes sense when you have this malady.

Something I'd like to add about "Carr Hating"....

Everytime I watch the Texans, I root for Carr to do well...I root for him to prove me and the whole city wrong, and make us eat crow....I hope for Carr to become a perennial pro-bowler....Do I think he will do all these things ? Honestly...No....But I sure as heck hope he does.....

I'm not sure how you are a fan of a team, and hope a guy does poorly....Most of us come on here and vent heavily on Monday and Tuesday....Most of the guys still jumping on Carr big time on Wednesday, are just doing it for sport.....I'm probably one of the bigger Carr detractors here, but He is the QB of our team and if he plays poorly how do you expect us to win ? We may all have differnt reasons for his poor play, but if you don't want to see the guy get better, then I'm not sure you really want to see the Texans get better.....Rooting for us to start a better QB makes sense to me.....rooting for our staring QB to play poorly is just crazy....JMO

I didn't want to start another Carr thread in order to display this article by McLain. It would just get turned around just like every other Carr thread.

Anyways, I'm far from a Carr fans these days but after reading this article you just have to feel kind of sorry for the guy. I still think he needs to go elsewhere (which he probably won't) to start over again. I think the previous regime ruined him as soon as he was sent onto the field in the Dallas game.

Yet you chose to post it in this thread. There were dozens of other active threads to choose from but you chose this one.
Who are you kidding?

Even though i don't really agree with him being our QB at the moment i have always liked this guys character and the way he carries himself i will be sad to see him go but i think he is currently shell shocked and a new start will be the best thing for him " WISH YOU THA BEST DC"

I also have to hand it to Carr, he still took some pretty hard hits this season and still managed to stay healthy this season...I'm beginning to think the guys immune to any hit they throw at him...lol...I'm sure he knows the worlds against him right now, but he has still gone out on that field, and plays, Gets knocked around like a rag doll, and hasn't demanded a trade or even talk of one..You have to give the guy some credit...What if we had a kick a** O-line, would we even be seeing these Carr bashers??? I'm as frustrated as the next, but as long as he plays for the Texans i'll still support him..

dude, it wasn't easy but after all its Christmas. Time to put aside our differences and come together for our love of our own higher power, our world, and love of our fellow man (no manlove jokes please)

Everyone knows ad nauseum my feelings on Carr's ability to play QB, but at least Carr isn't afraid to use the world Christmas. In this day of political correctness and sensitivity towards everyone's traditions but our own, it is nice to see someone say the word 'Christmas' and not merely 'Happy Holidays'.....if you come to my Christmas party and say anything other than Merry Christmas you better be Jewish and an observant one at that :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS

p.s. someone buy my tickets on the PSL forum. that would mean extra $ for my 4year old daughter's visit from Santa.
