Or should I say Bias. How is it, that a player is not given the best player award at any positiion, but yet, he is able to walk away with the best player in the country award? How is it, that a team that when playing all ranked teams, got their clocked cleaned, still manages to maintain a high ranking and play in a BCS Bowl, where again, they will get their clock cleaned before millions to see. How is it, that it often goes so unnoticed? Not by me.
It was ridiculous that Brady Quinn took home the Maxwell Award. Is the kid a good player? Yes. Is he the best player on the field in the country? No. This player can be left solely to debate and will change upon which region of the country your in. Regardless, I thought the best player elavated his team to win past their goals, played above his competition in key games, and it was easily seen. Had it not been for NBC ("Notre Dame" "BS" "Corp") no one would even think about him. Did he outplay Troy Smith? No, not even last year in the bowl game where Notre Dame again got exposed. Did he outplay Darren McFadden during the season in stats and elavating his team? No. McFadden lead his team into the light, when everyone knew or thought they wouldn't be noticed in the SEC. Did he single handedly bring his team back against Michigan State and UCLA, or did the opposing coaches sit on a lead and wait for NBC to drool over the excitement of having this happen on their networks, NO. And there are many more players and games that the case can be made for. But to give him this award, so it is not a clean sweap, and allow Notre Dame to play in a BCS game so their not left out again of the National Spotlight, is pure nonsense. Once they get better players, beat the best teams, then raise them back up to National prominence, but until then, let other teams build their progams without being held down by the Notre Dame bias and phony allure. As a matter of fact, tell them to have some class and uphold the contracts they give to their coaches that succeed, just as the one is now. Oh wait, I guess he should be let go too!
With all that said, will Quinn go #1. Most likely. The nation falls in love with the announcers and their bias of a player and university also. He may have the protypical frame, the arm, the looks, and the Notre Dame "Charm" and backing, but No Joe Montana he is!.:phone:

Quinn will be a good pro, but they need to stop trying to promote Notre Dame when their not worthy. Heck, TExas played a better schedule and Colt McCoy had a better year than Quinn!

ah, Smith is over rated ? That is what happens every year. Golden Domers always have the lead.
Surprised to see Arron Ross walk out a winner.

Wouldn't it be a hoot...if the Hiesman committee actual pick the best college player...and McFaddin walked out of NY with the goods. Just saying.

Most of the guys who vote...don't watch all the games. Just like the acedemy awards now. Almost always a political thingy now. Not the best. I'm still scratching my head over Spurrier.

This Notre Dame favoritism is nothing new, I remember back before the BCS when Notre Dame would still get into big bowl games over teams that had better records then they did. I think it was attributed to the national audience and the number of viewers that ND pulled in rather then there record though.

I'm not surprised at all.

I knew Quinn was gonna win one of the two awards (O'Brien or Maxwell).

But I thought that he would win best QB & Smith would win best player.

Oh well. The Maxwell winner has won the Heisman in only 1 of the past 6 seasons so I dont think we have to worry about Quinn getting that one.

Quinn has all the makings to become the 2nd coming of Rick Mirer.

OK, let me set you all straight...ND DESERVES the BCS bowl game...they beat each of the military academies this season, what other top 10 team can say they had that tough of a schedule...So before you start complaining, research the facts... ND deserves it !!

While I generally dislike ND and most everyone from there is overrated to an extreme point. Watch for Ryan Harris on the national stage. OT for ND. Good ZBS prospect.
