I don't even know where to start with this guy. He's all over every play. Tackles, forcing fumbles, recovering fumbles, I mean, wow.

It's amazing how well he understands the game. I wish the other players could learn by osmosis.

I totally agree with the OP, How this guy could slip to the second round is beyond me. If Meco dosen't make it to the prowbowl there is something wrong with people. And just to think its only his rookie year, how good he is going to get is beyond scary. Meco=:superman:

I'm stoked about our future with Demeco Ryans. This dude is going to be a player that other teams will fear. Next year's defense could be one of those that carry the rest of the team with a good draft and maybe a FA or two. It wouldn't be the first time an offensive-minded HC won with a solid defense.

I'm hearing it, I'm hearing it... All we need to do is add in a strong running back (Michael Bush, Cedric Benson), then get some O-Line fixes, and we will be set...almost.

And he'll do it with class. One of the things I liked reading about Demeco when he came out of Alabama wasn't that he led the SEC in tackles or any of that. What I liked is that he was an Academic All-American. I remember reading an article about how his mom made him do his work, since she worked so hard for him. Demeco is a first-rate citizen and it's awesome that he's a Houston Texan! :yahoo:

Last year's draft, 32 teams had chance to draft Ryans specially in the mid to later 1st rd. teams but somehow he sliped to 2nd rd. All I can think from this unbelievable slip is DeMeco meant to be TEXAN and nothingelse. So for that I will do this too :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

One of the most impressive things DeMeco did Sunday IMO was on the Raiders last drive. After the interception, with plenty of blockers and running room, Ryans just took a slide. Game over. No chance for a fumble or fluke play. He knew how much time was on the clock and took a sure "W" vs. trying to take it to the house for six.

I noticed that also. Ryans was everywhere on Sunday and it's not just because of his speed; it's because he's a heckuva smart football player. He's like Savior Faire...he's everywhere.

He's easily the best player on our defense and maybe the best linebacker in the league - as a rookie. The sky's the limit for him.

DeMeco is a heckuva' nice guy, too. I met him at the Texans "All Access" last Spring, and he was clearly happy to be there and enjoying all the fan support sent his way. I was happy we were fortunate enough (and smart enough) to get him with the second pick, and his excellence on the field is beyond anything we could have hoped for. Once this team becomes successful (next year!), expect to see DeMeco's smile selling all kinds of products.

He's our Jedi, a new hope, restoring peace and wins in the Texans galaxy. :texflag:

Just like Ray Lewis is the face of the Ravens and Brian Urlacher is the face of the excellent Bears defense we have our defensive identity to build around in Ryans. Ryans will probably be moved all over the field in different packages as they learn to use his all around skills in next years defense. I think we are just looking at the tip of the iceberg with this guy.

As an FYI. Demeco had 8 tackles and 6 assists yesterday, moving him into 1st place in the NFL for total tackles with 127 total tackles, 104 of which are solos compared to just 74 for Zach. No one has over 90 solos but him. Ryans has definitely flown the one finger salute to everyone who said he was too small or couldn't play MLB. If only we had Vince Woolfork in front of him.

The Texans FO deserves big kudos for this "kid" (as Kubiak says). They'll probably have a hard time matching the production of this draft class.

Demeco came on a blitz to the outside....VY's right side and VY stepped up and ran it. He really wasn't in a good position to stop VY or he would have.
