Gary Kubiak proved one thing last season at the draft, he knows what he is doing.

Williams - will be a monster for years
Ryans - could make the pro bowl his rookie season
Winston - is coming around nicely
Spenser - was the starting left tackle before being taken out by Dayne
Daniels - is everything we hoped to get out of the TE
Lundi - has shown flashes of being an everyday back

Another draft class like this one, and the Texans won't be talking just playoffs, they'll be talking contention.

I've never seen a better draft class. If anyone has, burst my bubble and tell me one.

Kubiak will be talking about this one like his first Christmas in about ten years. Because it was so good. Let's hope it's not even his best.

yup this draft will probably define the franchise for years to come. though i can already see the threads filled with complaining coming next year when we go back to having just a 'normal' draft

I disagree.

Still think there are plenty of holes on our team where we lack talent. I also think with another good draft we can fill those holes in a year or two. As of right now I see a need for upgrade at S, CB, OLB, OG, K, P, C, WR - and maybe QB depending how Carr continues to progress under Kubiak. Theres alot to be fixed with this team, but I like how quickly its getting done.

WR Wide receiver? I don't see where that needs an upgrade, especially since we should have Mathis back as our resident project and return man in 2007.

1974 Pittsburgh Steelers drafted 4 Hall of Famers in their first five picks

1 1 21 21 Lynn Swann WR USC
2 2 20 46 Jack Lambert LB Kent State
3 4 4 82 John Stallworth WR Alabama A&M
4 4 22 100 Jimmy Allen DB UCLA
5 5 21 125 Mike Webster C Wisconsin

In 1974 the Pittsburgh Steelers hit the motherload when they selected four future Hall of Fame players: wide receiver Lynn Swan in round 1, linebacker Jack Lambert in round 2, wide receiver John Stallworth in round 4 and center Mike Webster in round 5. No other draft has produced more than two Hall of Famers. If they had only selected one more, they might have "Won One for the Thumb."

Teams have selected two Hall of Famers in a single draft a dozen times. Perhaps the best draft among those occurred in 1965 when the Chicago Bears seleted linebacker Dick Butkus and halfback Gale Sayers with the 3rd and 4th picks in the first round. Unlike, the Steelers, however, the Bears would never capitalize on their good fortune and never made the playoffs with those two greats.

It's not yet determined that our draft isn't better. We're about 15 years away from knowing if they'll be in the HOF.

Not a single football fan on the planet would say that the Texans '06 draft may be the greatest draft ever in the history of the NFL. Get back to me when you are in your 30's

I think he is meaning depth at WR, which with any team is always a need a spot for concern. After AJ, Moulds and Daniels there is not much of any pass catching threat there.

Do you mean best ever in history of the NFL or best ever in our teams history?

I will agree the best in our team history.

I believe it was Vinny who said this would be a good draft if they all end up starting. With exception of the WR, we got them starting.

Do not get your hopes up for another draft like that one. For one that was one of the best draft classes in years and next year will not be as good. We might pull a few good ones out of it but I do not think they will be drafting to fill in as full time starters for next year. I am more interested in seeing what they do with pulling in some FA and not Plummer. But yea this was a great draft for us all of them doing great. You know some times you sit back and say this guy sux why did we draft him and not once have I said anything like that about any of them.

Just my opinion, but I think most teams are happy to get two starters out of a draft and maybe three depth types most years. If we do that, I'm "OK" with it. Last years draft was an annomily IMO, but I sure wouldn't turn down another one.

I agree with this. I can't look at anyone of them and say man why did we draft him. Not even the WR we drafted because he looks like he could be solid on returns.

Although I know the draft class next year won't be so great, I do know Kubiak drafts for what fits the system and we have a new GM that will listen to Kube.
