David Carr is coming off a benching against a 2-5 Titans team.
Injuries are plaguing our Offensive Line
Salaam isn't good even when healthy
A healthy Wiegart isn't much better
Strahan and the rest of their DL are monsters
The Giant secondary and LB corps are also good
Every team has trouble with the noise in Giant Stadium
Run game has only come to life in the past two weeks

This spells disaster for Carr, and even if he doesn't play a terrible game, this board is going to ridicule him. Lets please remember that there will be a lot of factors that go into this game, and everyone remember carr's good season. I hope Kubiak coaches the team well this week and gets them ready to play.

PS: Did anyone notice that it actually did spell disaster? That was tough :)

Yeah, you'll have people complaining that you didn't crap a golden egg if you crapped a silver one. Whining will never change among fickle fans.
I don't expect us to win this game. (I can always hope, though!) New York is one of the best balanced teams in the NFL today. I am looking for improvements in pass protection (badly needed) and a better ground game. and maybe our CBs trying to intercept a few balls.

Thus you have set your expectations super low. I think he might come out firing and surprise you. We may not win, but who knows, maybe this benching will be helpful.

hm.........

First, the Giants offense isn't that great. They've got TikiBarber & Plaxico... but that's about it. If we allow them to an early lead, it'll be a long day trying to stop Tiki. So this game is on our defense more than any game we've played yet.

Stop Tiki.

Defensively, they haven't been lighting up the league in sacks, or against the run. We should be able to keep Strahan & co. off David. & We'll probably get another 100 yard rushing game. If we get the lead, look for a lot of running. If we fall behind, even by 3 points, forget about running the ball.

IMHO, we should stay committed to the run through the first three Qtrs, if we aren't down by more than 14 points.... Kubiak hasn't shown that fortitude. If we are down by 14 or more going into the 4th...... yeah, it's time to air it out. but before then, we need to keep our offense on the field, and theirs off. Even if that means 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Again, not because they are that good offensively, but because they are a big play streaky offense..... if you ever let them get started, they are hard to stop, so we have to keep the ball out of their hands, so they have less opportunity to get started.

lol........ I didn't say we were going to win.

I'm saying their little 4 game win streak was against Washington(2-5), Atlanta(5-2, but they played poorly against the Giants), Dallas(4-3, also played poorly, remember Bledsoe??), & TampaBay(2-5)...

Osi Umenyiora won't be playing, Strahan has one sack against Washington, and 2 against Bledsoe.... none were very impressive.

They give up 96 rushing yards a game, just like Jacksonville.

Offensively, Tiki has been solid, Plax has been making one big play after another, and Eli isn't the model of consistency, and he's been sacked 15 times this year. So it's not like their OL is all that.

We're not supposed to win this game. Nobody gives us even a fighting chance. We are not even underdogs in this one, because underdogs are usually given a chance at 'any given Sunday'.

That being said, what do we have to lose by going all out? Maybe this team rallies and finds something deep within itself. Maybe they circle the wagons and play like a team instead of a group of individual players.

It is highly unlikely that we win this game...but the Giants are still human, capable of failure and overlooking us, so you never know. I'd like to think our team has a heart, somewhere deep below the suffering that constant losing brings...and maybe, just maybe, Kubiak can inspire these guys to rise above themselves and do what everyone says is impossible.

It sure would make Monday a lot nicer around here. :howdy:

B.S. That's just what they expect us to do...
what they won't expect in about a million years is for us to go 4 wide and no huddle right off the bat.
What they hell... we do pretty good on our scripted plays, and if we're successful, the running game should open up nicely.

Tiki Barber's wife was the catalyst behind the Giants star's decision to hang up his helmet. A longtime friend of Barber says she made him afraid he'd suffer a catastrophic injury that would turn him into a lousy dad.

And Manning? and Jacobs?

It's not a popular opinion, but I think Shockey is overrated..... Toomer is the constant guy that keeps the chains moving, but Plax is the dynamic reciever that makes those big plays possible. Take away Plax, and Shockey would probably be their leading reciever.

Eli........ very inconsistant....... I'd like to see how he'd do if Tiki wasn't on that team.

Brandon Jacobs...... you're right, I forgot about him. I'd love to have a back like that on this team.

You posted several times in this regard.

You can discount players all you want, but the Giants have a good offense and they play well together. They are inconsistent at times, but they can probably light up just about any team on any Sunday.

I am not a big fan of Eli, but that throw in Dallas to Burress from his own 45 down the middle of the field for a TD was pretty amazing. Eli is a good QB and makes some big plays. More or less Eli's issue right now is a little more consistency, but you could say the same thing about their offense too. Which maybe is your point? If so, it seems like you were going a little overboard, kind of like how you were talking about how the Texans can win and someone put a picture of the Kool-Aid icon as a reply to your post.

It's real simple, if the Giants stick to business on Sunday, they will probably run it up against the Texans. It will get ugly early is my call.

Funny how Atlanta and Dallas (both at home) just happened to have bad games against the Giants...and how the Gmen sacked Vick/Bledsoe/Romo a total of 13 times. Yeah, must really have been off days.

Tampa bay had also just beat Cincinatti and Philadelphia before the Giants.

But...anything can happen, I think the Giants fans here have given you the keys to the game. It's up to your offense - get Lundy running, then Carr has to hit us deep...if he's not already on the ground.

You go with whatever makes you feel good.

I'll repeat..... I didn't say we would win the game.

I'm just saying it won't be as one-sided as our fans think it will be. Just like the first half of the Dallas game(against us). Who'd have thought that we'd be up 6-3?? Heck, Dallas was one of the highest scoring offenses at that time, JJ led the league in YPG..

But our Defense(which isn't that good) handled JJ pretty well in the first half. & Bledsoe's fumbling&bumbling cripled them more than our secondary did. & our secondary sucks. Bledsoe didn't all of a sudden start making bad throws, he didn't all of a sudden have a hard time finding where the ball needed to go.

They just weren't as good as their record/stats showed.

The Giants has got a very talented team. But...... they have their problems. It wasn't me complaining about the offense, and not getting Shockey the ball enough, that was Shockey. It's not me that has the Giants trailing going into the 4th Qtr... that's the Giants.

You aren't firing on all cylinders.... a good game against us(and our so-so mediocre defense) would help the Giants smooth out their offense before they go see Chicago, but we have to let them.

You go with whatever makes you feel good.

BEING 4-0 SINCE OUR BYE WEEK AGAINST GOOD FOOTBALL TEAMS, BEING 5-2, BEING 3-0 AND IN FIRST PLACE IN OUR DIVISION ALL MAKES ME FEEL GOOD.

I'll repeat..... I didn't say we would win the game.

SMART MOVE.

I'm just saying it won't be as one-sided as our fans think it will be. Just like the first half of the Dallas game(against us). Who'd have thought that we'd be up 6-3?? Heck, Dallas was one of the highest scoring offenses at that time, JJ led the league in YPG..

I AGREE, THIS SHOULDN'T BE A BLOWOUT. THE GIANTS SLOW DOWN A BIT AND HEAD TO THE GROUND IF THEY'RE WINNING, AND HAVEN'T SHOWN AN ABILITY/WILLINGNESS TO BLOW ANYBODY OUT. THAT PLUS, I DO HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THE TEXANS QB (SORRY TO HEAR SO MANY DETRACTORS IN HOU, MAYBE DESERVED). IF LUNDY CAN PERFORM ANYTHING LIKE LAST WEEK AND CARR STAYS AFOOT, YOU'LL HAVE A SHOT!

But our Defense(which isn't that good) handled JJ pretty well in the first half. & Bledsoe's fumbling&bumbling cripled them more than our secondary did. & our secondary sucks. AGAIN, THE TEAM HAS A VERY DEMANDING COACH. WHEN THINGS GO WELL, HE'S A SUPERSTAR, WHEN THINGS GO POORLY HE'S AN EASY TARGET FOR MILLIONAIRE PLAYERS WHO THINK THEY SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE MOVIE STARS NOT BLUE COLLAR WORKERS.

It's not me that has the Giants trailing going into the 4th Qtr... that's the Giants.

THE GIANTS HAVEN'T BEEN IN THAT SITUATION SINCE THE DEFENSE WAS REVAMPED DURING THE BYE WEEK. WE PLAYED THE MOST DIFFICULT SCHEDULE IN THE NFL AND ARE LEADING OUR DIVISION AFTER HAVING WON FOUR STRAIGHT.

You aren't firing on all cylinders.... a good game against us(and our so-so mediocre defense) would help the Giants smooth out their offense before they go see Chicago, but we have to let them.

I AGREE THAT THE GIANTS HAVEN'T PUT IT ALL TOGETHER YET, BUT SINCE THE BYE WEEK WHEN OUR DEFENSE REORGANIZED, WE'VE BEEN HARD TO BEAT. OUR OFFENSE HAS SHOWN THE ABILITY TO THROW AND RUN ON ANYBODY, AND ALSO HOW TO WIN WHEN ONE PART OF THE GAME IS NOT OVERWHELMING.

AGAIN, MUCH RESPECT TO THE TEXANS, I HOPE THEY GET THE GOOD TEAM THEY DESERVE ASAP. GOOD TALKING FOOTBALL WITH YOU.

Eli is great at times but too inconsistent at this point (I wonder how he would be playing without Tiki back there).

Shockey was a great rookie but seems to get a little bit worse every year he plays.

Tiki is... Tiki. Stud.

WRs have speed. Burress doesnt run good routes but when you have a 100 inch vertical you dont really have to.

Defense is hoss. Good secondary. Great pass rush.

If we cant run the ball for at least 125 yds then we lose. I would love to see this but I'm not gonna gey my hopes up.

To me the deck is stacked against the Texans and Carr . So using a quote ( from I'm not sure which coach said this ) , sports does'nt build character it reveals it .

I want to see some fight in this team ... I want to see players step up under adverse conditions . I want to see a QB make smart plays to keep the chains moving . I want to see the defense play well against a contender . I want to see if the team responds in a positive manor in the middle of Carrgate ... If it does'nt he's toast .

We had a communication problem. Last year we had an experienced
CB Alexander, who played for our DC, both from the Steeler system of Defense.

Our front seven defensive calls are done by MLB Pierce.

Our defensive backfield did not include Alexander this year and started out this year with three new free agent veteran starters who never played together previously.

Since the bye Will Demps, who came from the Ravens, calls the backfield defensive plays, which has improved significantly since.
