The Dallas Cowboys have released 10-year veteran defensive back Marcus Coleman, who had rejoined the team earlier this week after serving a league-imposed four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL substance abuse policy.

Club officials indicated one reason for the release was that Coleman would have been guaranteed 75 percent of his salary if he was on the roster this week. The Cowboys might be interested in re-signing Coleman, 32, once the guarantee is voided, and if there is a need in the secondary.

Considering the state of our secondary, I almost wouldn't mind him coming back here.:hides:

I never thought I'd say that, but we could use some depth in the secondary.
