Just curious on this..
Palmer is the OC for the Cowboys and Palmer took a lot of heat here in Houston.
Cowboys put up 40+ points up on the Titans today

I think there was a thread on "Fire Palmer" every week..

Did Capers hinder this team with his philosophy?
(not knocking the good defense and run the ball, it is just we weren't flexible (aka put square peg in round hole)

Chris Palmer likes to throw downfield. It is hard to throw downfield consistently when your offensive line is poop, you have a baby QB and baby receivers.

Also, Capers is not so much a downfield guy.

And well, they were playing a Titans team that is to put in the kindest way, a bit transitional in a dysfunctional Raiders sorta way.

I do not miss Mr. Palmer, but I will say that he wasn't a good fit with Mr. Capers.

Caper trying to micromanage Palmer, IMO, led to many of our losses. I don't know why Capers was so involved with the offense when the defense was his specialty. I'm not much of a Palmer fan, but our offense would have been in much better shape if he had been left alone.

Capers scrapping Palmer's playbook right before the first game of the 2005 season was just bizarre.

Every team has to throw the ball downfield at least once or twice a game. An offense has to make a defense believe that they could go for broke at any minute. Because the Texans almost never threw downfield, defenses had a smaller area of the field to plan for.

Palmer is the QB coach in Dallas...not the OC.

I stand corrected, I thought he took over Paytons job.

The knock on Palmer was that he was gret with developed QBs. Hence Bledsoe, and not with new guys, hence Carr

While technically true the distinction is deceiving. Palmer is the head offensive guy 2nd to Parcells even though he does not have the OC title--no one has the OC title. This is a Dom Capers kind of situation where he isn't the DC in title but is in fact.
