I hate to interrupt all the deep football talk going on in here but did anyone else hear the blurb on 26 just now about Payne checking himself into the hospital tonight? I caught it just as I was coming in the door and didn't get all the details.

I saw a clip of him on TV yesterday signing autographs at a hospital, I hope that's what this is.

texanfan on the Houston Pro Football (http://houstonprofootball.com/) site posted that Payne checked himself into the hospital for some sort of staph infection. Link (http://www.houstonprofootball.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3478)

Marc Vandermeer also talked about this briefly this morning so I guess I'm not going crazy after all. It was WB 39 and not Fox 26 that reported this last night so take it for what it's worth. <pun alert> The Texans have had a rash of skin infections in the locker room the past two seasons. Maybe they need to steam clean the place. Supposedly Capers will make a statement about it this afternoon.

He spent the night in the hospital last night according to Mark Berman. Didn't practice today but said he should be good to go on Sunday. Something about an elbow "infection" -- then he used the term bursitis.

There goes the dirty locker room theory!
